Glancing behind them as well, Aves sighed and stuffed her things back into her backpack. If they had to abandon the car, she didn't want to lose her journal.
"It's almost night out," Aves said. "We can drive until it's dark and then I can make us disappear."
"Absolutely not!" Aunt Daisy said immediately.
"What's the point in being this way if I can't even use it to protect myself? You guys only came because of me. Let me help."
"No. We stick to the plan. We go to the hotel. We find the group we heard about."
"Uh-huh," Connor nodded. "That's assuming that car isn't a problem."
He pointed to another car that had crept up beside him, four grown men looking at them from behind rather obvious sunglasses. Aunt Daisy cursed under her breath, Connor quietly got his gun ready, and Aves tightened her seat belt.
