The apartment they gave Aves was cute. It only had one bedroom, too, so there were no roommates to worry about. For the first day or two, she'd just lived in it as-is, but now that she was coming to terms with the fact that she'd be staying for a while, it was time to get it set up the way she wanted it. Opening the door and all the windows to air it out, she put on some music and got to work. She didn't bother turning on any of the lights because she didn't need them, but because of the time of day, bright light streamed in through the windows. Figuring she was alone, and having gotten one receptive reaction so far, she shaded her eyes to a solid black. It was just more comfortable that way. Even in public, she tended to wear shadows like contacts. Light sensitivity was just part of the package for her.
She took the time to deep clean the apartment, which took the better part of the day, even with a little help from a figurine or two. Dissipating her current helpers, she took a moment to look around the living room and decide what she wanted to do with it. The rooms were fine as they were, of course, but she wanted to put her own little mark on the place to make it feel more like she was living there on purpose. Deciding to start with the couch, she constructed two figurines, and mentally directed the figurines to do the lifting. There was no point in wasting effort, right? Anyone watching would have seen two wispy little shadows start growing and darkening until they were man-shaped before working together to lift the couch. The sudden thought struck her that she hadn't checked to see if anyone had been watching, and she glanced at the door only to see a man there with longish hair staring in at her. Lifting her hand in a half-hearted wave, she smiled sheepishly at him, wondering how long he'd been standing there. "Hey," she called out over the music.
