She couldn't remember ever seeing the show. "Was that a 90's show? It kinda sounds like one." She and her brother had never watched much tv growing up, but when Netflix became a thing, they'd made up for the lost time whenever they could.
The thought of talking to a scientist was somewhat terrifying, considering her family had always feared she or her aunt would be caught by the government and subjected to terrible things at the hands of scientists. She didn't want to offend him, though, not when they were getting along so well. Plus, if the woman was chill with the alien clan, she would probably be safe, right? She settled for a non-committal, "Maybe." She hoped she sounded calmer than she felt, taking a sip of water to wash down the lump in her throat. It wasn't that she hadn't faced an imminent threat before, but she was pretty sure she'd never willingly walked into one. She reminded herself that Jean had cleared the place. Everything would be fine. Pushing it aside, she continued to listen.
She sympathized with his story. "My parents wanted to pull me out of school. My aunt convinced them she could help me before summer break was over. First thing she did was figured out my trigger and taught me how to not use my abilities. But she was always made me feel happy about who and what I am while teaching me caution." It was a tough balance, but it worked.
