"It's been okay," she answered, settling onto the couch the same way she had the day before, and tucking her shoes under the table again. "A bit slow. I keep expecting something to happen, but from what I gather, it's time to let my guard down a bit." She shrugged. It would take her a while to get used to the new place, which came with its own unique culture. Jean had assured her it was safe here, but after spending so many years looking over her shoulder, it would take time for her to really relax, especially in a crowd. A closed room with just one other person, though, she could handle. Hence the shoe removal.
