James hated to think that Audrey was in such a horrible place and being treated like that. He didn't see her as evil, ungrateful, or spoiled. He saw her beauty that was more than on the surface. Her ease at being there for those she cared about, her smile when he said a corny joke. There was nothing true about what she said people thought about her back in her world. He kissed her back. Holding the kiss for a moment before finally pulling away. It wasn't only the kiss but he pulled away from their embrace.
He fumbled around in his pockets and as he prayed to himself that he had it on him. Then a reach into his jacket pocket and a wave of relief. He looked back at her a moment as he went down to one knee. Taking the ring box out of his pocket as he did. A goofy smile on his face as he looked up at the girl that for some reason loved him back.
"Audrey.." he started. Telling himself in his head he was an avenger and he could do this. "When you were gone it was like part of me was taken from this place too. You make me happy and that there's nothing I can't do with just a look from you. I know we can't control what the gem does but we can control what we do while we're here together." He opened the ring box, "It might not be forever. Still I want to make the most of our time here with you as my family, my wife, the love of my life in all universes." There was a deep breath, "Will you marry me?"
