After sorting Ellis out and making sure she was situated, Tess turned off the light and gently closed the door to the guest bedroom. Tess could certainly understand why Ellis wanted to drink herself into oblivion, but that didn't make the conversation any less exhausting. With a heavy sigh, she plodded into the living room and flopped face first onto the sofa.
Hearing Tess come in, Ginny threw an open bathrobe over the tee and cutoff sweatpants she'd worn to bed, and padded out into the living room. "You know... if you were anyone else? I'd ask if you were out of your damn mind. But knowing what I know about you? This is maybe the sweetest, most endearing thing I've ever seen you do." Ginny chuckled, bending down to kiss the back of Tess' head.
Tess let out a cute little rumbling sound, then rolled over onto her back to look up at Ginny. "Maybe a little outta my mind," she murmured, inching her thumb and forefinger in front of her face. Still, in her heart she knew that she'd done the right thing. "Stay up with me a bit?" She asked, keeping her voice soft.
"Of course!" Ginny said with a grin, lifting Tess' legs so that she could sit down, then draped the woman's legs over her lap. "Anything you wanna talk about, sweetie?"
"Nothing beyond the obvious." Tess gazed at Ginny silently for a moment, thanking her lucky stars that they'd found each other. Imagine that. It took them moving to an alternate universe to finally meet, when they could just as easily met back home. Maybe it was fate. "I don't know if our new house guest will stay more than a night," she paused and nibbled on her bottom lip. "But this'll probably happen more than once. At least until she finds her feet."
"Well... as long as she doesn't get too abusive or out of control, she's welcome to stay as long as need be." Ginny sighed, fingers trailing along Tess' legs. "Goddess only knows if you'd be here with me today if Rachelle, Morgan, and Neely hadn't done the same for you..."
Tess snorted. "They were a persistent bunch." She fell silent for a moment; thoughtful. "Believe it or not I was an annoyingly positive person before all that. I mean, bad stuff happened before, but I always tried to see the positive side to things."
"I think I prefer jaded-yet-hopeful Tess." Ginny grinned, sliding her hand under the blonde's shirt, to scratch her fingernails lightly along her stomach. "The version of you I fell in love with."
Tess's eyes fluttered closed and she purred. "It's funny how our experiences shape who we become." She opened her eyes and smiled softly, reaching over to scratch her nails along Ginny's forearm. "I don't think I would change a thing; knowing what I know now. Knowing that I'm exactly where I'm meant to be and exactly who'm meant to be with."
"Exactly. Everything you went through... all the abuse and bad relationships I went through... end of the day, all those things conspired to bring us together. So I wouldn't change a single thing." Ginny looked at Tess - so tough, yet also so beautiful and kind... and she had to chuckle. "So how many times did our drunken new friend hit on you?"
"...Enough to get really irritating really fast," Tess admitted. She couldn't hide anything from Ginny even if she wanted to. "She's in a bad place, love." She shrugged and smirked. "I did promise her a good smack if she ever hit on you though, so... there's a thing."
Ginny looked down at what she was wearing. The t-shirt was baggy but did show off a bit of cleavage. "Guessing I should try to conceal The Girls a little more then..."
"Don't even for a second. This is your home." Tess removed Ginny's hand from under her shirt, if only so she could reposition and straddle her lap. "She'll just have to learn of things called 'boundaries' and 'appropriate vs. inappropriate behavior', is all."
"You're an amazing woman, Tess." Ginny said with a smile, hands resting at the small of Tess' back. "You really are. You have such a kind, caring heart. It's a little awe-inspiring, to be honest."
Tess joined her hands behind Ginny's neck, lightly caressing her skin with her fingertips. "I don't know about 'awe-inspiring', but most anything I ever did in life was out of a want to help others." She fell silent for a moment, frowning thoughtfully. She'd been a hunter in her past life. "It's funny. Back home I would've been happy to use my fists, but here?" She shifted slightly on Ginny's lap. "Here, I don't even feel the need to. Whatever anger was there..." She shrugged, falling silent again. She wasn't sure that she was making sense. "But helping Ellis just now, it just... I don't know." She chuckled. "It felt right."
"Just like how, to me? Loving you just feels right. And did from the first time we talked here." Well, wasn't Ginny just a lovebug today? "You looked at me... and you didn't see a rockstar. You didn't see a 'feminist icon', as the magazines called me. You didn't see a woman with ridiculously bad body image issues. You just saw me. And in that moment, my heart became yours."
Tess let out a shaky breath. "How are you so perfect?" She murmured. She kissed one cheek, then the other. "I love you with everything in me."
"Years of intense training." Ginny answered with a faux-serious expression, before smiling at Tess adoringly. "And being loved by you is the greatest thing I've ever felt, baby. Ever."
I'm gonna marry you one day Tess decided then and there. She returned Ginny's smile and leaned in to give her a brief and tender kiss on the lips. "C'mon. Let's go to bed."
