Who: Wichita & Dr. Carly McDonald
What: The start of something
When: Sunday evening; April 11
Where: The End Zone in Freedomtown
Warnings: language
It was a slow Sunday night with a baseball game on one TV and a hockey game on another. There were no teams playing that anyone really cared about, but having sports on kept the patrons happy. Wichita happened to be at the bar when she saw a familiar-looking blonde walk through the front door. She called back Dr. McDonald's order, as well as putting in an order for herself, planning to take a break once their food was ready. Once the order was in, she started to make Carly's drink, having it ready by the time she made it to the bar.
Carly wasn't typically a sports-bar kind of person, but The End Zone was open late, which made it easier for her to plan drinks or dinner after a late night of work. Plus, the atmosphere there was busy and hectic. Which made it easier for her to not focus on the thoughts that typically swirled around in her head.
She smiled when she saw Wichita at the bar, having grown fond of the girl during all the times she'd come into the bar. Walking over, she took a seat and gave a self-deprecating chuckle. "I guess my predictable self doesn't even need to look at the menu, huh?"
"Only if you were looking to throw me a curveball and make me change our dinner order," Wichita chuckled as she leaned over the bar a bit. "Which... I don't see you doing," she shrugged. "Anything interesting come into XMH lately?"
"Yeah... I guess I am a creature of habit." Carly admitted with a cute little blush. "And honestly? I haven't had much of anything interesting recently. I took some time off to deal with some personal stuff, and since I've been back, I think they're kinda getting me slowly back into the swing of things."
Wichita nodded, "yeah, I get that. Plus, we're sort of between things as far as planet-wide excitement goes."
Carly nodded, giving the redhead a small, appreciative once-over. "Honestly? I'm glad they're doing it. I'm trying to fix myself... but I still feel so lonely, so empty... last thing I need is to start crying or something in the middle of surgery." She gave a friendly smile. "You look really pretty today, by the way."
"I know how you feel," Wichita smiled. "If I had a job as important as yours, I would have taken more time off when my lovely wizard boy went away. I found my own way of dealing with that, though."
"I envy that strength," Carly said, admitting her own seeming weakness. "I wish I could just... heal. Move on. Just... every guy I even find halfway attractive ends up making me miss Noah all over again. I'm just starting to wonder if maybe I'm meant to just be alone, you know? Until we can find each other in the next life."
Wichita shrugged, "hardly, beautiful. Right now, I've just got me a means to an end. He's pretty. He's great in the sack. But at the end of the day?" she shrugged, "there's nothing there."
Carly's eyes went wide there, as she realized something. "....oh lord. I haven't... you know... once since Noah left."
"Because you haven't figured out how to separate sex and love?" Wichita raised an eyebrow. "I mean, it only fills one void, but it's a great distraction."
"I don't just mean with other people," Carly said, not crude enough to just blurt out the words I haven't had an orgasm. "I let myself become an entirely non-sexual being..."
"Well, we can't have that," Wichita shook her head as their food was set in front of them. "You are far too hot to not let go and enjoy yourself."
"Hot? Nooo..." Carly laughed, blushing. She knew she was pretty... but she never thought of herself as sexy, or hot, or anything like that. "Besides... I don't like doing it to myself. And like I said, I just can't... let a man touch me. I can't."
"Not everyone does. I've never even bothered doing it myself. I was just lucky to get Billy to cross my path so quickly," Wichita shrugged.
"I literally never talk about this kinda stuff with anyone." Carly realized, blinking a few times. "I'm not entirely sure why I feel so comfortable with you. Aside from you being my favorite part of coming here, that is."
Wichita grinned as she came around the bar and sat down next to Carly. "I have one of those types of personalities that brings it out of people."
"You really do!" The doctor said with a cutely excited voice. "I love getting to chat with you when I come here. I only wish one of the people that hit on me could be as easy to get on with as you!"
"Sometimes... skipping that part is easier," Wichita shrugged, smirking. "I would like to spend some more time with you, though."
"I'd love that! I don't have many friends I feel as open with as you." She said, that smile showing why she was so damned easy to fall for.
"Good, because as fun as Billy can be in the bedroom... we're not really compatible otherwise. So I've decided that it's time that I start moving on," Wichita shrug. "So why not explore hanging out with a girl."
Typically, Carly had one beer with her food. Just to give herself a teensy little buzz (girl was not a drinker), but this time, since she drank it a lot faster, it made her a little less inhibited than she normally would be. "Hee. You gotta ignore me if I grin at you a lot... you've been my girl crush since I started coming here. "
"And I'll let you see me naked if it keeps you coming back," Wichita giggled. "Because truth be told? You caught my eye the first time you came in, as well."
Carly's eyes went wide again. Seemed to happen a lot around Wichita, hm? "I... you... I mean... are you hitting on me?"
"Yes and no," Wichita let out a laugh. "That term seems a little on the sleazy side. I may want to take you into the office and see if I can make you scream, but I respect the hell out of you."
"You.... wow." Carly (adorably) fanned herself as she giggled. "I've never gotten all swoony over a girl before... or anyone really, recently. But yeah... kinda doin' it now..."
"But hey..." Wichita took Carly's hand and linked their fingers before bringing their hands up to her mouth and placing a soft kiss on each of Carly's fingers. "There's no rush here. I think that we can be something."
A few tears welled up in Carly's eyes there. It wasn't so much the gesture itself (others had certainly tried), but the way it made her feel. This was legitimately the first time since she met Noah that someone tried to woo her... and succeeded. It meant she was capable of feeling again... she just never thought it might be with a woman. "Never knew you had this in you..." She giggled, sniffling. "Always took you as just the lovable wise-ass...."
"I was a product of my lifestyle and the circumstances surrounding it in my world," Wichita shrugged with a smirk. "Had I been there any longer, I probably wouldn't have become the balanced chick I am today, but here I am."
"You have no idea how you've made my night." Carly chuckled, a little blush coming over her again. "I haven't genuinely smiled this much in so long now..."
"I know how that is," Wichita nodded. "I didn't go into this night planning on trying to start a new relationship, but here we are."
"A new..." Carly blinked in surprise, smiling bashfully. "You're... really that into me?" It was the furthest thing from her mind before tonight... but she found herself oddly intrigued by this.
Wichita laughed, "well, it's like I said, it's not like I want to just bang your brains out. I already have that, but it's run its course."
"So... you wanna go out sometime?" Carly asked, mind blown that she was even saying those words aloud. "Although... I can't say that second part doesn't have some appeal as well..."
"How about..." Wichita tapped her chin. "We say 'yes' to both things?"
WHOA. Carly had somehow gone from not even thinking about sex for the last year, to contemplating an actual hookup. With a woman, no less. There was a part of her that wanted to blame the alcohol, use it as an excuse to do anything she wanted. But she wasn't going to lie to herself. She wanted this. And while it opened a whole new box of things she needed to figure out about herself... that was for another day. Right now, it was high time she did something for herself.
"I... very much like that idea."
Wichita grinned, "now that we've established this, I feel like I need to get one thing out of the way right off of the bat. Do you want slash need me to end things with Billy right away?"
"I wouldn't ask you to do that..." Carly said, shaking her head. "Not if we're just getting to know each other. If it doesn't work out, I'd rather you at least have that to fall back on."
Wichita nodded, "I just wanted to know if it would make you feel better if I ran to him and tell him that I've met someone else. I'm sure it won't matter to him either way."
"Nope. Let's just... take things as they come." Carly suggested, still more than a little afraid to give her heart away again. "Whatever happens.... happens."
"That's the best thing for both of us, honestly," Wichita nodded. "We've both been through some pretty heavy shit."
"Full disclosure here..." Carly laughed nervously, dragging her fingers through her long hair. "This is all.. super new to me. So you might have to kinda hold my hand through parts."
Wichita smirked, tilting her head, "who says that I'm actually experienced when it comes to stuff with girls?"
"Well... to hear Queen Bea talk about you..." She giggled, hiding her face in her hands to silence the laughter
Wichita shrugged, letting out a sharp breath in a hiss. "That was a little on the one-sided side, actually. I've never even you know... tried otherwise."
"Really?" Ok, so that made her feel a little less intimidated by it all, to be honest. To know this was a journey they'd be mostly embarking on together. "Alright, not as worried about seeming like a moron now..."
"That's one of the most beautiful things about Bea," Wichita nodded. "As a succubus, she feeds off of orgasms that she gives others. Sure, she'd like the favor returned, but it's not a deal-breaker if you're not quite up to it."
Carly felt one eyebrow go up verrrrrry slowly before she felt the need to ask, with a little grin. "I bet she's mind-blowing."
"She's one of the coolest chicks I've ever met," Wichita nodded. "But yes, girl is a pro."
"Oddly though? I find myself envying her more than you in that scenario." Carly admitted with a cutely sheepish grin, shuffling her feet. "Like I said... I kinda knew I was at least curious mostly because of how I'd always catch myself gawking at you when I come in here."
"I get it," Wichita laughed. "I think that there's a reason I've never reciprocated with Queen Bea, and I've only dated boys. And yeah... boys... not men now that I really think about it."
"A reason?" Carly asked, genuinely curious as to what that was.
"Yeah," Wichita took a deep breath, grinning. "I wasn't quite ready to explore that side of myself fully quite yet."
"And... now you are?" She felt her heartbeat a little faster, a little thrill in her heart at what this could lead to.
A small smirk curled over her lips as she nodded, "I am."
"Oh, wow." Carly blurted out, that smile threatening to stay there permanently at this point. "That smirk is gonna be the death of me, I just know it."
"Just one of the simple little things about me where I don't even really need to try," Wichita shrugged.
Carly grabbed a napkin, quickly writing her private number down on it, folding the napkin, and holding it out toward the other girl. "I want you to text me in the morning, ok? So we can plan a date. Soon, hopefully."
Wichita grinned, nodding as she leaned over, kissing Carly on the cheek. "I have a good feeling about this."
"Me too." Carly agreed... before taking a moment to visibly think. "For the record?" She took a deep breath, before leaning in to give Wichita a light, very chaste, but also very sexually charged kiss on the lips. "No matter what happens? Thank you. Thank you for giving me one evening where I got to forget my problems and have real fun."
Wichita nodded, "you are very welcome. Have a good night." She stood up to walk Carly out.
