Cheryl was genuinely surprised when Nyx contacted her on private message a few days ago. She was sure that she'd ruined any chance of even a friendship after how she'd treated Nyx the last time they'd spoken. Still... for whatever insane reason, Nyx had asked her out on a date. With Toni no longer in the picture Cheryl decided that it was time to strike out again. She and Nyx did have a connection and it would be foolish not to pursue that. They'd arranged to meet for coffee, but of course Cheryl wasn't the type to half-ass her outfit. She was dressed in black thigh-high boots, along with a black blouse and a red mini-skirt and wore her signature red lipstick.
A part of her wondered if Nyx would stand her up. It would be a sweet revenge. That's probably something you would do, not her, she thought. They'd arranged to meet at the Double R Diner in Twin Peaks (Cheryl remembered some nut on the network raving about the coffee and decided to give it a go) and surprisingly, Cheryl was the one to arrive first. Quaint was her immediate first impression. She took a look around and decided to sit at a booth to wait for her date.
One nice thing about being a Spaceknight: people tended to remember who you were. Nyx had only been in the Double R once, when it first arrived, while on duty. Yet, when she walked in? Several regulars paused to wave at her, and even Norma shot a wink her way and called out "Happy New Year, Nyx!"
The blonde strode right over to the booth Cheryl was occupying, her outfit far less eye-catching: just a pair of jeans, a black halter top, and a red leather jacket over that., eyes going wide as she took in the redhead's outfit. "Oh. My. Lord." She said, visibly flailing a little. "Look at you! How am I supposed to treat this like a first-date kinda thing with you looking like that?" Her nice way of saying she had to stop herself from feeling her up right in the damn diner.
Cheryl's eyes followed Nyx as she walked through the diner, a hint of a smile on her face. This girl definitely knew how to make an impression on people. She fills out those jeans nicely too she thought. She grinned when Nyx flailed at her. "That... may have been my intent. At least a little." She stood to properly greet her date and kissed her on the cheek. "You look amazing too." She did not hide the fact that she was checking Nyx out.
"Yeah... I can't do this whole 'starting completely over' thing. Not totally at least." Nyx laughed, quickly giving Cheryl a second kiss, this one longer, and while remaining chaste, on the lips. She sat down then, reaching across the table to loosely entwine her fingers with Cheryl's. "I realized why I was so ok with all this, you know." She started, obviously referring to the olive branch she'd extended. "We all have that person. The one that you're so crazy about that you act like an ass and don't even realize it. She was yours. Just because I've never been there doesn't mean I don't understand."
Cheryl admittedly needed a few seconds to catch her breath after that kiss. She sat down opposite Nyx and started lightly toying with her fingers. "That doesn't mean that acting like an ass was acceptable behavior," she pointed out. She wasn't usually the type to point out her faults, but she was working on it. "I can be..." She let out a heavy sigh, then met Nyx's gaze "possessive. Very, very possessive. But that's no excuse for how I treated you. And I'm sorry."
"So... at the risk of getting ahead of myself? Just be possessive of me." Nyx told her with a grin. She couldn't help it: she'd felt a draw to this girl since the day they met. And it wasn't just sexual, either. It was the whole package. "I've only really... dated one person. And that ended up being a bit of a disaster. But I honestly feel like no amount of time with you is ever gonna be enough."
Cheryl's eyebrows shot up. That was a bold thing to say. Still, she'd be lying if she said that she didn't think about Nyx when she was alone. The question of 'what if' dangling over her head. And here Nyx was, presenting the answer. "Then... let's try. For real, this time."
"I'm in." Nyx told her, bringing Cheryl's hand to her lips for a sweet, intimate kiss. "But I swear if you dick me over again I'm punching you in the face." She added, hilariously in that same kind, loving tone she'd been using before.
A huge, rarely seen smile (as of late) spread across Cheryl's face. "You won't have to," she promised. She'd learned her lesson from last time. Frankly, she was tired of getting her heart broken with Toni leaving all the time. And hey, there was the potential for something really good here. She'd be stupid to let that slip through her fingers again.
"I know one thing that's gonna be different this time..." Nyx told her, looking into the redhead's eyes. "Instead of being all frantic in some strange bedroom at a party? Tonight we're gonna take our time... in MY bedroom.... and learn all about each others bodies." Sure, she knew they needed to get to know each other in far more ways than that... but she also knew that they were both extremely attracted to each other. And the sooner they got some of that initial sexual tension out of the way, the sooner they could calmly enjoy each others company.
Usually Cheryl was the one to take initiative like this. She'd be lying if she said that she wasn't impressed. She nibbled on her bottom lip thoughtfully. "Would it be terrible of me to suggest that we take our coffee to go?" She brought Nyx's palm to her lips and held her hand there, a silent promise that this time it would be different.
"You know? I think that's a great idea." Nyx told her with a big grin, nibbling her bottom lip in repressed excitement. "I think we could have something really special here. Really... really GOOD."
Cheryl nodded. She needed to stop thinking about the past; to stop obsessing over someone who clearly wasn't into her as much as the thought. Time to move forward she decided. "C'mere," she half-asked, half-demanded as she leaned over the table to give Nyx the kiss that she deserved.
The blonde kissed her happily, eyes fluttering closed as a happy purr came from her. She had to remind herself that they were in a public place, lest she start tearing her clothes off right here. "God... you are so goddamn gorgeous, you know that?"
"I know," Cheryl replied. She was not lacking in self-esteem in the looks department. Not that she was embarrassed by that. She placed a hand to Nyx's cheek. "You're just perfect."
"Hmm. Miiight need to convince me there." Nyx replied with a smirk. She had no problems admitting her own worth... she just wanted to be playful. "You know. Just to be safe."
"I might have a few ideas," Cheryl purred, smiling when Nyx did. Hopefully, given time, something natural would come of this and the horrors of previous relationships would be left in the past. Cheryl took that moment to gaze at Nyx, feeling hopeful. Maybe this time it would be different.
