"Superheros don't exactly live long, either." He'd heard about the future and what happened at home. He had every want and intention of staying on Galador until old age claimed him, but this had been a reminder that, as much as they worked on keeping people here who wanted to be here, sometimes the gem still fucked up and people left. "At least not the ones who are still human underneath their costumes." He knew he died at home eventually to save the universe. There were worse reasons to go out, but he didn't want to go back to that. Something just as bad could happen to him here, though. Even though things were relatively peaceful, something bad could always be around the corner. "Hiding away in a hole doesn't stop tomorrow from coming, as much as we'd like to pretend otherwise."
She was right. Sometimes you just had to make due, for better or worse. "Looks like we just have to keep going, huh? Be those superheroes and act like we're not so broken on the inside." Another thing he understood very well. He was doing better here, had been for years, but he was still someone who had issues and had been put back together again. Not all the pieces fit together as well as they should, but he made it work.
"Of course I'm coming to see you be Wendy Darling," he insisted, finishing off his own beer. "I gotta cheer on my favorite employee, you know?"
