Alex always felt that Scott, especially as he'd got older, had wanted a different big brother. Or to be the big brother to Alex. Maybe. Their relationship was an odd one but it never meant that Alex didn't care about Scott. He did.
"They try to say Scott isn't like me or I'm not like Scott. But we're more alike than people realise. We used to borrow Charles cars all the time to go driving. We never went to the mall. We used to go drive out to this quiet little place, just to sit, smoke and drink whatever we liberated from the liquor cabinet. Then come back a few hours later and have dinner like we'd never left." He never said who he meant but it was obvious.
Alex shrugged. "Y'know I wasn't exactly around a lot when he was growing up. I always wanted to be. I think he kinda hated that he didn't have a big brother like other kids did."
"Yes." He nodded. "Unless you think it's too soon for me to be giving you something like that?" Something sentimental and had a lot of emotions attached. He gave her a lopsided grin as he laughed quietly. He felt they would be safe with her. Just from the way she was looking at the tags then he didn't regret his decision for a moment.
