Who: Bobby Heffernan and Lila (w/ appearance by Kat) When: Last week What: Making a new friend Status: Closed and complete Rating: PG-13 (Language)
After taking one more look over her homework, Bobby talked to Erin about going out for a bit before curfew and headed to the train station. She hopped on, making the short trip to Freedomtown to meet Lila (and hopefully Katarina), to get together and hang out for a while, exploring a new part of her new home.
"I can't believe you did this, Lila..." Kat muttered, mortified at how the robotic girl had "introduced" her. Still.... she wasn't wrong... Kat was very much taken, but did still enjoy talking to hot girls. "Well, she should be here soon, so remember what we talked about."
Lila nodded, a hilariously chipper grin on her face. She wore a beautiful black dress made of satin and lace, and a pair of Doc Martens with it. "Of course! I am not to say things that make me sound weird or awkward, or that would embarrass either of us in any way. Otherwise I will never have friends." The way she repeated it verbatim though? Made it clear: she didn't really get it. She was just repeating what she was told.
Bobby walked off of the train in a pleated skirt and a mostly opened button-down white shirt, her bag slung over her shoulder. She didn't know what to expect, but she wanted to look good. She looked around, letting her hair swing back and forth as she looked for Lila, hoping that it wouldn't be hard to find her. When she spotted Lila, she saw her chatting with a small, cute girl and grinned walking over to them. "Hi, I'm Bobby."
"Jeebus, Lila... you have really flarkin' good taste..." Kat muttered under her breath as she watched the girl walking toward them.
Lila just kept smiling, giving an unintentionally wonderful little bounce before just blurting out. "She is very beautiful! I especially love the way her shirt nearly exposes her br-"
"LILA!" Kat hissed, rolling her eyes. "Shuddup! Hey, Bobby. I'm Kat, and this big ol' batch of subtlety is Lila."
"Oh don't worry about," Bobby waved it off. "I grew up in Queens. I couldn't even walk home from school without a few catcalls." She glanced at Lila before turning to Kat, "so obviously, I have questions."
"Alright..." Kat said, raising an eyebrow with (comically) the exact same attitude Rocket tended to give most people. "Shoot. Because I know Lila wants to go hang with you, but she's kinda my responsibility, and I wanna make sure you're not some total flartnard who's gonna mess her up."
Bobby nodded, "I just want to make sure that you're not going to be like 'no banging my robot', or anything like that. So before anything happens, I want to know if there is any limits or restrictions here. I was just looking to hang out over a drink or something, but I wanted to cover my bases before anything gets started here."
"Hey..." Kat replied, laughing at how blunt the girl was. "Lila's very naive, but she's perfectly sentient and capable of making her own decisions. As long as you don't mess with her programming, hurt her in any way, or try to weaponize her? We're totally flarkin' cool."
Bobby chuckled, "don't worry, I probably wouldn't even know how to start messing with her programming, or anything like that. I was looking to study law."
".......a'ight then." She said, kind of adorable, trying to look all tough in spite of how tiny she was. "Lila? Remember, if anything goes wrong or you need me... initiate protocol 125."
"Understood!" Lila replied, looking back to Bobby with a happy little smile, eyes sparkling. "Shall we go? I am eagerly looking forward to my first time 'hanging out' with someone."
Bobby had no idea what "protocol 125" was, but she wasn't going to question. If she needed to know, she'd learn it in time. She gave a nod, "I won't keep her long. It is a school night and I don't want to get a bad reputation with my new guardian." She then turned to Lila with a grin, "then I hope that I exceed expectations."
By now? We all know Kat is a bit of a brat. So anyone who really knew her? Would not be surprised when she leaned in to whisper to Bobby: "For the record? Just in case she decides she really likes you? My asshole friend hooked her up to PornHub and even after three programming updates, there's a lot of stuff she seems to retain..."
Bobby blinked a few times, "that would be why the offer to give me a relaxing massage sounded a little less than innocent."
"She doesn't mean to be anything other than the sweet girl she is. We can thank Cynthia for perving up her memory banks." Kat laughed, giving the girl a hearty slap on the back. "Have fun you crazy kids!"
Bobby waved to Kat before turning to Lila, "so... I'm new here, where would you like to take me?"
"Well!" Lila said, perky as ever, "That would depend on what you are in the mood to do!" She said, 100% wanting to do whatever her new friend wanted.
Bobby laughed, nodding. "See, I was thinking along the lines of bedtime snacks and drinks, but I don't know if you actually that stuff."
"I am 100% capable of doing anything a human can do!" Lila said proudly, almost too damn precious to exist. "Except things involving reproduction and evacuation. Those aren't human tasks I perform."
"If I'm being honest, you're actually rather lucky for some of that. Granted, my parents had tried for years before having me," she tapped her chin. "Milkshakes or coffee shop?"
"I love milkshakes... you wouldn't mind getting those?" Lila asked, before inevitably saying something she had no idea wasn't completely appropriate. "I'm very glad you wanted to spend time with me. You're sweet and very beautiful. It gives me tingling feelings between my thighs!" Sigh. No, Lila. Just... just no.
Bobby's eyes widened a bit, suddenly glad that Kat had warned her about the PornHub knowledge and the naivety. She wet her lips and took a deep breath, "thank you very much for that. I feel the same way about you." She raised up her hand, her index finger up, "but for future reference, it's not appropriate to say that when you're first getting to know someone. Especially not publicly." She took Lila's hand, "but yes, milkshakes."
"Oh.... Darn it. Did I say something dumb again? Kat keeps trying to teach me social etiquette, but I've been having trouble with it..." Lila said with a precious little frown.
"No, no... it's not dumb," Bobby shook her head with a sweet smile. "Do you know the word 'tact'? That's a term used often for situations like this."
"I know the meaning, yes." Lila said, looking increasingly frustrated at herself. "Kat has tried explaining the intricacies of it to me, but clearly it's not going very flarkin' well." She grumbled, making it more apparent that she had also picked up more of Kat's speech patterns.
Bobby giggled, "it's fine. There's just things that you can think but not say. The exceptions being in private with people who know you."
"I... think I understand." She pursed her lips in thought, before sighing. "Some of the programming I was accidentally given at first... was in the form of hundreds of videos, none of which apparently feature the way people really talk!"
"That must be what Kat warned me about," Bobby nodded. "I'm sure her friend did that as a prank. But I mean... " she shrugged with a smirk. "It does mean that if things go well tonight, you will have some programmed in skills to put to the test."
Oh dear. Lila actually BEAMED at that. "It would be my pleasure to show you! I have many parts highlighted and committed to individual memory folders!"
"So!" Bobby clapped her hands together. "Milkshakes?"
"Yes!" Lila agreed, smiling and bouncing on her heels. "I would love a cookies and cream milkshake!"
Bobby giggled, "lead the way, beautiful."
Sweetly, Lila took her hand, walking toward the local ice cream shoppe. There was a part of her that wondered: did she like milkshakes? Or is it just in her programming to? Thoughts like that upset her though, so she shook them from her mind, to focus on her new friend. "What kind do you like?"
"I tend to go back and forth, depending on my mood," Bobby nodded. "Sometimes, it depends on what they have."
