It had been a few days since Barron had sent his mother a text to make sure she knew he was going to be on the show. However, he noticed that it wasn't showing as 'delivered'. So it wasn't bouncing back, like she had been sent home, but like as if the battery on her device had been dead. But for a few days?
He was about to find out that it was a lot worse than that...
Stephanie was getting ready for work when her son knocked on her bedroom door. She walked to the door in her robe and smiled as she opened it. "Hey kiddo," she left the door open as she made her way back to her bathroom to continue working on her hair and makeup.
Barron walked inside, eyebrow raised. "So you are still here..." he sat down on her bed, with an eyeline to the bathroom. "Where's your device?"
Stephanie blinked, leaning into the room and pointing to her bedside stand. "In the drawer."
Barron nodded, moving over to the head of his mother's bed and slid open the drawer, pulling her communication device out of it. Not only was the battery dead, but the screen was completely shattered. There may have been even been a few chunks missing. There was no way someone would be able to use that without slicing their finger. "Uh... mom... you do realize you can get this fixed rather quickly."
Stephanie walked over to her closet, picking out an outfit and began to get dressed. "Yes, I'm aware, honey."
"Mom..." Barron tilted his head, a bit worried. "Just how long ago did this happen?"
"Like... October, I think," Stephanie shrugged, looking at herself in the mirror.
Barron's eyes widened, "October? Mom, it's March. I was just on TV last night."
Stephanie nodded with a grin as she walked over to her son, "I know. I'm so proud of you. It looks like I had a hand in teaching you how to dance." She kissed him on the cheek.
Barron nodded, blushing a little. "Yeah, you did. I'm going to get this fixed for you. I'm not even sure Dad has noticed that you haven't been responding to him."
