The Butterfly
The Butterfly stands in the left corner of the stage on a small platform, the lights on the stage a dark green. Ahead of her on the stage were two girls dressed in a similtar way to her with no wings. She stands there in the same position for seconds then the lights come in as she sings "Hey," and you can see her in all of her glory as she continues.
I was doing just fine before I met you I drink too much And that's an issue, but I'm okay Hey, you tell your friends It was nice to meet them But I hope I never see them again I know it breaks your heart Moved to the city in a broke-down car And four years, no calls Now you're lookin' pretty in a hotel bar And I-I-I can't stop No, I-I-I can't stop
As she sang, she crossed to the middle to the stage and joined the dancers, doing some light chroeophrahy with them as she continued to sing. She multiasked well and made doing both seem as easy as breathing, continuring the song with ease as she moved with the girls.
So, baby, pull me closer In the backseat of your Rover That I know you can't afford Bite that tattoo on your shoulder Pull the sheets right off the corner Of the mattress that you stole From your roommate back in Boulder We ain't ever getting older
The dancers stayed where they were are Butterfly began moving around the stage, not wanting to stay in the same place the entire time. She had learned from watching Idol that it was better to work the stage.
You look as good as the day I met you I forget just why I left you, I was insane Stay and play that blink-182 song That we beat to death in Tucson, okay I know it breaks your heart Moved to the city in a broke-down car And four years, no call Now I'm lookin' pretty in a hotel bar And I-I-I can't stop No, I-I-I can't stop
For the last chorus, she joined the two dancers back in the middle of the stage and did more choreography with them. She could have done a song where she just stood there but she didn't think that would leave a good impression or be very fun and she wanted to do both with this first performance of hers.
So, baby, pull me closer In the backseat of your Rover That I know you can't afford Bite that tattoo on your shoulder Pull the sheets right off the corner Of the mattress that you stole From your roommate back in Boulder We ain't ever getting older
We ain't ever getting older We ain't ever getting older
When the song ended, she stood with one hand up as her last pose and a smile on her face under her mask. She's done it!
[ Song: Closer by Chloe Adams with backup dancers Sally and Kylie ]
