Frog
The stage looks like the 90's threw up on it with neon color everywhere and on it are four back up dancers, two boys and two girls, in matching tracksuits of different colors with tadpole masks on their faces. As the music of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song starts up and the audience cheers, the spotlight focuses on Frog, who is sitting in the back of the stage on some boxes looking chill wearing a deep purple suit with a matching hat and a yellow plaid tie. 9 seconds into the song, he begins to rap.
Now this is a story all about how My life got flipped-turned upside down And I'd like to take a minute Just sit right there I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air
As the instrumental began, Frog stood up and jumped down from the boxes to make his way downstage to join the dancers, his back dancing the audience. He joined them for ten seconds of the famous Jump On It dance [:34 to :42] and by the time he was done, he was facing the audience again, his mic back to his throat ready to do more rapping.
In west Philadelphia born and raised On the playground was where I spent most of my days Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school When a couple of guys who were up to no good Started making trouble in my neighborhood I got in one little fight and my mom got scared She said, "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air" I begged and pleaded with her day after day But she packed my suitcase and sent me on my way She gave me a kiss and then she gave me my ticket I put my Walkman on and said, "I might as well kick it" First class, yo, this is bad Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glass Is this what the people of Bel-Air living like? Hmm, this might be alright But wait I hear they're prissy, bourgeois, all that Is this the type of place that they just send this cool cat? I don't think so I'll see when I get there I hope they're prepared for the prince of Bel-Air
Frog seemed to take a few seconds to breathe then he broke int another dance break, this time breaking out into Will's drum dance [:14 to :37, minus the split] and adding his own flare to it. There was no doubt that he had praticed a ton to do a perfect running man. He slowed it down at the end so he would have time to catch his breath again before he resumed the song.
Well, the plane landed and when I came out There was a dude who looked like a cop standing there with my name out I ain't trying to get arrested yet I just got here I sprang with the quickness like lightning, disappeared
I whistled for a cab and when it came near The license plate said "Fresh" and it had dice in the mirror If anything I could say that this cab was rare But I thought, "Nah, forget it" – Yo, home to Bel-Air"
In this short dance break, the five of them broke out something that made the audience break out into cheers; The Carlton [:42 to :51]. There was no adding this own flair to this one. He stuck true to what came from the show as a tribute to it and the character behind it. That's what his whole motivation was behind this song choice. He just really loved the Fresh Prince and the entire show.
I pulled up to the house about 7 or 8 And I yelled to the cabbie, "Yo home smell ya later" I looked at my kingdom I was finally there To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel-Air
The rest of the song was spent freestyling by the Frog while the dancers did their choreographed moves. For those twenty seconds, he just let himself have the time of this life and he didn't worry about anything else because the song was over. As the music ended, he stopped and crossed his arms over his chest, which was rapidly moving up and down, with all four dancers leaned up against him for their ending poses.
