Who: Sarah Connor and Maddie Rooney What: Meeting for lunch When: Backdated 2/17/20 Where: Oahu
Maddie had weekends off from Oahu University, of course, so it was a good opportunity to show Sarah around where she lived. It was nice to be making some new friends. Aimee and Olive were more of extra sisters since she lived with them. She adored them but they were definitely more family then anything else. Sarah was the first friend she had made here that she did not live with so she was looking forward to today. Now that she thought about, speaking of sisters, she had not seen much of Liv , her twin, since she had arrived here. She made a mental note to call her soon. But for today, donning her denim shorts and a tank top she and Sarah now walked around Oahu. Well, actually Maddie rode around on an electric scooter they had rented for the day. She loved the feel of the wind through her hair, driving along the water, showing Sarah things and also learning some new things as she rode around, too.
Finally around noon, they stopped for lunch at (place to be determined). She parked her scooter and turned to Sarah. "I never thought I could love somewhere as much as I loved my own home. But it really is so pretty here." She told her new friend.
Sarah had been taking a few university classes online and waitress part time to earn herself some money. She still lived with her guardian, but she viewed them like family more than anything. They were distant family from another timeline, but still family all the same. She needed to get out and have some girl time because she spent it with mostly guys.
“I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area on Earth. The weather here is similar” she replied giving a smile. “I haven’t had a lot of experiences yet because of preparing for war and things in my timeline. This is going to be refreshing just to get some time away from that.” Sarah was dressed in skinny jeans, a t-shirt and a leather jacket. Her long brown hair flowed down her shoulders instead of being pulled back. She had her pistol to the side of her. She didn’t feel safe with out it.
“I was about to move to Los Angeles from Michigan, well really to Malibu really when I got sent here to this place. I feel like it might have been fate that I then ended up in a place similar to California when I arrived.” Maddie explained where she came from.
Maddie had never carried a weapon and the sight is even pistol shocked her but didn’t scare her. All of a sudden something occurred to her as she remembered Sarah’s full name. “I feel like I have seen your movie before or from the world you came from. I’ve seen terminator like a million times on dvd and was trying to figure out why your name was so familiar.” She went on.
“I’m told it’s normal for people from movies and shows to be living here too though. Have you met anyone that toy have only ever seen on tv yet?” She asked curiously.
Sarah stared at Maddie, confused. “I’m not an actress if that’s what you are getting at. And you know what a Terminator is?” She asked curiously. “I’m rather confused about what you mean? And...what’s a DVD?” She asked as they walked. Sarah had been growing up in the 1980’s where they didn’t have such things.
Maddie wrinkled her nose confused. So Sarah was the girl who played Sarah Connor, maybe. Or maybe Terminator was her life and now she was here with Maddie. Interesting. "Well, in my world Terminator is a movie and I don't remember a Sarah in it but I remember the last name Connor. Didn't I see the name Connor on your journal?" She asked, wondering how this worked. Some things still confused her about this planet. "A DVD is something we watch movies on." She went on to explain.
Sarah furrowed her eyebrows confused. “Yes, I’m Sarah Connor. But I’m not an actress and I wasn’t in a movie. There was a movie about Terminators in your world?” She asked again. “I time traveled from the 1980’s when I grew up. We didn’t have that kind of technology back then.” She explained. “I’m still new to computers. But I’m learning.”
Maddie nodded. “I’m sorry. I probably should not have said anything. I tend to have a big mouth at times.” She said apologetically. “I was not born in the 1980s. I was born late in 1997.” She told Sarah. “I could help you learn some technology if you wanted me to.” She offered.
“Don’t worry about it. What’s this Terminator movie from your world?” She asked curiously. “My whole family is actually a result of time traveling and different timelines. It can be confusing to explain sometimes. I have a family member who is teaching me about computers. He is actually very good at them and should get a job fixing them.”
“Well for one the Sarah in the movies is older than you are now in it. The Terminator is sent back to 1984 to kill well someone named Sarah Connor. I guess it isn’t you, or maybe it is you. I do not quite get that part now that I have met you.” Maddie admitted. “Maybe we can watch it sometime if that won’t be too weird for you. I am sure I can find a way to watch it online here.” She said hoping it was true. “I’m glad you have all your family here even if they are different then you remember. It makes it easier to be here.” She said. “It would be cool to meet your family sometime. And you can maybe meet my galador family and my Michigan family.” She added.
Sarah listened to her curiously. Then smiled widely when she mentioned stuff from her world. “Yes, that happened to me and didn’t happen to me. It’s difficult to explain because I am from another timeline from the older me. A Terminator was sent back to 1984 to kill me. But I was raised by another reprogrammed Terminator to wait fora man named Kyle Reese who was sent back in time to rescue me. My son was infiltrated by an artificial intelligence and was sent back to kill me and Kyle. But we defeated him in my timeline.” She was quiet for a moment and laughed. “That’s probably a movie too. I should see about that?” She asked Maddie. She was finally putting it all together that maybe her life was a movie In another universe. “I think our families should meet sometime. It would be lovely to get some normalcy around here.”
“So the movie is about your life? Now that’s wild.” Maddie said admirably. “I can’t believe all the characters I have seen only in movies are all you and your family.” She said cocking her head. “So you had to kill your own son? Oh man. I mean in my head it’s still just a movie so it doesn’t seem real yet. I don’t mean to sound Heartless. But oh man this is awesome. I mean I know it’s your life but it’s so cool from my perspective.” Maddie went on. “We should all get together sometime for sure. We actually had a big dinner right before i met you where my Galador family met my family. “Next time we have something like that I will be sure to invite you and your family. It’ll be nice to have some things like we are used to back home.” Maddie agreed. “Are there other versions of you here then?” She asked curiously.
Sarah listened to all of Maddie’s questions intently. She was still trying to wrap her head around being a movie character. “So you are telling me that my whole life and my family was in a movie? That’s really rad. The son that I had to kill was from the future. He wasn’t my son as far as I’m concerned. I know that sounds cold but Skynet had changed him into a cyborg and it just wasn’t him anymore. He was an evil killer.” She explained. “There is one other version of me here. She is older like in her fifties, and a mother to a younger version of my son. They are both from a different timeline. I’m living with the brother of my boyfriend who is my guardian. I also live with a younger version of my boyfriend. It’s a lot to keep up with and to understand. I get confused just thinking about it. But maybe our families can meet sometime.” raisemyvoice02/19/2020 Maddie nodded. "If everything I have learned about this planet in the last few months is correct then yes, I believe your whole life is a movie. Are you alright? This is kind of strange I admit." She said, consoling her. Her eyes wide she shrugged. "I mean I wouldn't hold that against you. He was not technically your son so it makes sense." She told her new friend.
"I am glad there is only one of me here. How do you handle having another version of you here? I mean I have my sister here and she is my twin but she isn't another me." She raised her eyebrows in shock. "That is an awful lot to remember. When I meet them I might need name tags or cue cards or something." She said with a laugh.
Sarah listened to her friend again and nodded. “I’m okay. I was prepared for what I had to do by my previous guardian. I still miss him very much. The movie thing is a bit strange, I admit. I wasn’t prepared for that. As for another one of me here, it’s like we’re two separate people. We live our own lives. I’m a college student and a waitress. She’s a mom and works at a museum. I do miss my boyfriend dearly. I mean he’s here, just younger. That’s strange for me too.” She sighed. “So it is nice to have friends here.”
“So you had another guardian before? We’re you here before or was this just when you first arrived?” She asked grateful to have found Ann right away and settled right in. She knew just how lucky she was.
“I think it’s really cool that the movies I’ve seen are your life. It’s a little strange yes but I think it’s cool.” Maddie went on.
“Who knows maybe your boyfriend will appear here someday. Mine did after all.” She said reassuringly. “And for now you have me. I’m glad to have a friend too outside of my galador family and my earth family that came here after me.” She said gratefully.
“Yes I was raised by a robot from the future that came to rescue me when I was nine years old. I’m still trying to get used to the idea of my life being a movie. And my boyfriend is here. He’s just younger than he was when we met. Kyle is seventeen and when I met him, he was at least twenty one.” She shrugged. “I suppose that’s not much age difference. I’m nineteen. But so far we’re just friends.” She explained. “I’m glad to finally have a girl friend. I live with two guys so it’s all guy talking all of the time.” She explained.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said anything. I feel so stupid now.” Maddie confessed. “I’m so curious if it’s a soulmate thing and you two will end up together at these ages.” She said, a romantic at heart, though not many besides Diggie and Liv know that side of her. She laughed. “I’m used to hanging out with the boys too with playing basketball and all. Do you know what basketball is?” She asked hoping not to embarrass herself again.
Sarah rolled her eyes. “Don’t apologize. But, I suppose anything is possible. The older me is with my boyfriend from another timeline.” She shrugged. “It’s just weird having him here so young. Yeah I know what basketball is. We had basketball back in 1984. I just never played.” She admitted.
"So basically you are with him, still. It might not seem that way but you are." Maddie said to make sense of it in her own head. She laughed. "I know some people here have different games, planets and whatever else. So I had to ask.
“I’m still in love with Kyle if that’s what you are asking about? I suppose people do have different games. I have never thought about that.” She thought out loud.
"Well, kind of but also, maybe he is your soulmate and you will be with him in every version of yourself here." She said helpfully. "There is a lot of different things here." She added. KatyWrites02/21/2020 “Even if Kyle is two years younger than me? Do you really believe in that soul mate thing? I was skeptical about it at first. But then I met Kyle and all of my questions were erased. It was as if we belonged together.” She explained.
Maddie shrugged. "I think so, yes. I mean even Diggie found his way back to me, so yes, I think I do." She admitted. She sighed. "That is how it is with Diggie and I. It just feels right. Always has. So, why don't you play it by ear with that Kyle and see what happens?"
Sarah nodded. “I know nothing has happened so far. It’s like I have had fun with his brother who is my guardian. If you get what I mean? But yeah I totally believe in the destiny stuff.”
"Wait, fun as in fuun or just friend fun?" She asked, sounding so like Liv in that moment that she laughed.
Sarah laughed. “I mean fun as in fuuun. It’s probably not cool for me to do that with his brother. But....things happen.”
“Eh. I mean just live life, see what’s meant to happen. I dated other guys before but I always ended up back with Diggie.” She assured her new friend.
“I see what you are saying. But I’m so in love with Kyle that I don’t think that I could date or be with other guys. Derek was just sex. But I need to treat him better than that. Because he’s family.” She admitted.
“No I get it completely. Even when I dated others it always came back to Diggie. All I can say is if it’s real he’ll end up here for you. I hope.”
Sarah nodded. “I understand completely. Did you and Diggie just naturally end up together?” She asked. “I was skeptical when my guardian told me that Kyle and I were destined to be together. But when we met it was like sparks flew.” She giggled. “I haven’t had that experience with younger Kyle yet. But we’ve barely spoken.” She said.
“We were friends first and played ball together growing up. It sort of naturally just moved into us liking each other and then going to a dance together and then being together.” Maddie explained to Sarah. “Well I mean it’s hard to believe at this age that were meant to be but I just feel like when it’s right you know.” She agreed with that. “Well give it time. You just got here. Let’s see what happens the longer you are here.” She said helpfully.
