Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Party Time
Who: Darcy and Thor, Featuring Alex
Where: Alex's Room, #301 Devron
What: Impromptu party and drinking
When: Saturday, January 9th (During this scene.)
Rating: Mid-range, as there is drinking and Darcy speaking her special brand of moon language, but nothing serious

(OOC Note: This turned out super long, so I gave it its own entry rather than tagging the party post.)

When Darcy heard that there was a party, she decided that she was SO there. After swiping a case of beer from the kitchen (she left an IOU, so shut up!), she ran off and grabbed Thor before dragging his beefiness toward Alex's apartment. What? She couldn't leave behind her buddy! It was Darcy's pride and duty to make sure that he didn't sit in his room all the time by himself, OK! "Have you been introduced to the concept of the Earth kegger yet? I know you hang with Tony Stark, so I figured he'd shown you all sorts of ways to get liquored up," she remarked as she made her way into the open apartment.

"Keggers?" Thor laughed, letting Darcy basically drag him along. They'd become great friends since arriving on board Freedomtown, hadn't they? "I've seen Tony drink like a fish, but you should know that mortal alcohol has no affect on me. I am the mighty Thor!" Oh, good lord.

Darcy snorted. "And the mighty Thor doesn't get a kick out of drinking mortals who think they have a good tolerance under the table without batting an eye? Come on, big guy. I know you better than that," Darcy teased. "And kegger comes from keg, which is what beer bought in huge bulk comes in. If there's one here, you're SO helping me do a keg stand." She grabbed a different beer than the one that she had brought and popped the top, taking a sip. "And I'm AMAZED you don't have any Asgardian ale or something on you. You haven't gotten Deadpool to grab you any yet?"

Despite speaking the same language there were a lot of colloquialisms that went RIGHT over Thor's head, but he was thankful that Darcy had the patience to explain what she could. "That's a good point. ...I think you'd be a funny drunk, Darcy Lewis." He gave her a light playful nudge. "Apparently my last shipment went mysteriously missing, but since Alex is the one that gets it I'll be sure to ask if what happened!"

Darcy had no problem playing Midgardian translator, especially since most people from Earth thought she spoke her own Darcy moon language. "I'm an AWESOME drunk. You'll just get to find out." Even though Earth liquor had little to no effect on him, she grabbed an iced down bottle of vodka and handed it to him anyway. "And ask away, big guy! I'm sure she has it around." Alex might even be serving it!

Thor accepted the bottle and looked at it. Given the size of the bottle it was likely meant to be shared, so he poured some in a nearby glass and had a mouthful. His eyebrows immediately shot up. "This is nice." No, he likely wouldn't get drunk on it, but he could easily polish off the bottle if he wasn't careful! Thor looked around at the small crowd that had amassed and spotted Alex dancing with Cosima. "Alex Vause!" He called out. It was hard not to pay attention to him when he voice was in 'boom' mode. "Any word on what happened to my shipment of Asgardian liquor?"

"Quite a few words, actually! I might have kept it for myself after I tried some!" Oh, lord. Alex was already well on her way to being three sheets to the wind, wasn't she? "But I'll totally, totally buy you more." Thor looked at Alex silently for a long moment, crossing his arms and flexing his muscles. "Ooooor you and your friend can help yourself to however much you want. It's all in the second bedroom over there." She pointed vaguely off in the direction.

"That's a much better answer," Thor replied with an easy grin. He always knew how to get his way! "I'm so glad that I asked! Thank you, Darcy Lewis!"

Darcy had thought Thor would like vodka. He was Norse, good vodka came from Russia, and part of it had been colonized by the Nordic people. Made perfect sense to her! "Glad you like," she said with a grin, following him over to Alex and listening while he asked about his shipment.

"See? Told you she had an idea," Darcy said with a triumphant grin. "Now lets go get your Valhalla hooch before the party breaks into the entire stock." And someone dies of alcohol poisoning!

Thor finished that glass of Vodka like it was lolly water, and set the glass aside. "We'll have to make sure that people don't get too carried away with it. We don't want anyone overdoing it." Still, you couldn't deny that big, boyish grin on his face. Now at least he could get as drunk as anyone else! He led Darcy over to the room that Alex had indicated and found a cask of chilled ale in there and set to fixing them both a drink. He made a point to pour less for Darcy. She still needed to walk after tonight! "Now don't drink it too quickly. It'll go to your head far too quickly."

"As much as I want to fuss about you indicating that I'm a light weight, I'm actually going to listen to you as I get the feeling I'd fall over and die if I drank this stuff like you," Darcy said, only half joking. "Cheers," she said, raising her glass and taking a small sip of it. Not bad, but DEFINITELY potent! "Wow, you were not joking!" she said with a laugh. "Excelsior!"

"Make her bring you a double shipment next time," Darcy insisted about the mead. She'd had some at Renaissance Fairs before, but she had the feeling hiss was much better. "And tell me about one of your adventures then. Make it a good one."

"I think I shall." Thor sat down on the bed in the room and pat a spot next to him for Darcy to sit as well. They'd rejoin the party soon, but his stories could be a little long-winded sometimes. "What kind of story would you like? Action heavy, intrigue, or romance?"

She grinned, sitting down on the bed next to him. She wasn't worried about rejoining the party at the moment. She thought about his question, taking another tiny sip of her drink. "Hmm...how about romantic? I bet your milkshake brought all the ladies to the yard."

Thor laughed. Of all of the odd things that Darcy had said during their friendship that was one thing that he understood. Go figure. Romance. Well, his story about Lorelai probably wasn't appropriate for that, given that she could bend any god or mortal to her will. Hrm. This might take some thought. He then smiled. "Would you like to hear about me and Jane? I know that you were there for most of it and you saw what kind of man I was before... but I think that it's one that needs to be told."

She nodded, folding her legs under herself so that she could get more comfortable. "Go ahead. Tell me what I was missing for then." The two of them had been adorable together, and it made her miss having Jane here all the more!

Thor got comfortable as well, setting his elbows onto his bent knees, cradling his drink in his large hands. "Well, before I met you or Jane, or even before I knew Midgard I was very thick-headed in my beliefs." He could laugh about it now, but he was ashamed for how he'd been before. "Everything was black and white, good or bad, my way was the right way. I thought that starting a war was what my people needed."

"Yep, sounds about like the guy I first met," Darcy said, taking another sip of her drink. She was trying to keep the sips tiny, OK? "Maybe not so much the war stuff, but you were definitely a blacknor white kind of guy."

Even so, Thor kept an eye on Darcy. If at any point he'd felt that she'd had too much to drink he'd ask her to stop. "I reveled in war. I would go out of my way to find a fight. On the day that I was to be crowned the new--on the day that I was to inherit my father's throne to Asgard, the Frost Giants of Jötunheim broke into one of our secure rooms in an attempt to steal something of great power. They were unsuccessful, but I was so incensed that I went against my father's wishes and convinced my friends to go to Jötunheim and to take the fight to them. After a brief but great battle, my father brought us home... only to banish me to Earth for what I'd done."

It really was kind of hard to picture Thor basically picking a fight with an entire planet, at least the Thor she knew now. Maybe the one she read about in Norse legend. He really had changed quite a bit! "Is that why you ended up with us?" Darcy asked him.

Thor nodded. "I do vaguely remember being hit by a van... and something about a taser." He waggled his fingers near his forehead. "Although my memory's a little fuzzy there," he teased, grinning and lightly nudging her to show that he held no ill will for that. "I apologize for scaring you. I was scared too."

"Well, it didn't help that we thought you had wandered out into the desert drunk," Darcy pointed out with a laugh. "I was kind of proud of finally getting to use that taser," she added. "But I can see why you were freaked out."

"It is a very effective weapon," Thor said about the taser. "I was exiled from my home. I can honestly say that up until that point I had suffered no greater agony. And I have lived for a very, very long time."

They were sort of on exile here as well, but it wasn't quite the same. They hadn't been banished by their family, after all. "I really can't quite imagine what that's like," she replied, reaching up and resting a hand on his arm for comfort.

Thor gave her a grateful smile. "But I haven't gotten to the best part. Meeting you and Eric and Jane. One could almost say that it was destined. Of course, it took a long time for any of you to believe that I was who I said I was."

"Hey, I'm the one who spotted you falling from the sky in a photograph we took!" Darcy protested. She had at least figured out quickly that something was up with this guy. Turned out he was an actual thunder god. Who would have guessed? "Hard to believe anybody screaming out in the desert, though."

"Well, I know that now," Thor laughed, having more of his drink. Given the topic of conversation, he wasn't drinking quite as heartily as he might have had, so he was still on his second drink. He smiled fondly, although there was a hint of sadness to it as well. "One night we discussed how I came to be there... an Einstein-Rosen bridge, she called it. We in Asgard call it a Bifrost." He fell silent for a moment. "'Your ancestors called it magic... but you call it science. I come from a land where they are one and the same', I told her. I saw in her eyes... she wanted to believe me, but I don't think she did until..."

"Can't believe that you never would have guessed that one," Darcy said, taking another tiny sip of her own drink. Despite her own carefulness with the drink, she was starting to feel it hit her. Hopefully, this wouldn't be a repeat of any of her college incidents (including but not limited to sleeping with rando dudes, falling down the stairs with drunk people on her shoulders, and having said drunk person then puke on her new boots). "Jane was dying to know that she was right. People thought that the research she was doing was...well, nutso." There was a reason that a poli-science major had been able to get the internship so easily. "Of course, then you showed up and proved her right! So awesome, by the way."

Thor would at least hold her hair back if she happened to vomit everywhere, so that was something. "Well, I should think that after seeing a man turn into a big green monster that they'd be more open to the idea of Gods," he couldn't help it but chuckle. Mortals were so weird. With his mood starting to turn and a smile on his face, Thor finished his second drink and set to pouring himself a third. "When the Destroyer came for me," the big automaton sent by Loki, "I felt that the only way to save Jane, and the people that I care about was to sacrifice myself. And I did it willingly." And by doing so, he was given his powers back. "The idea of a world without Jane Foster in it was just too much. Too much." He then lightly nudged Darcy. "Of course, I imagine a world without you in it wouldn't be nearly as entertaining."

Well let's hope that things don't come to that! "That was a science experiment gone wrong. Easier for some people to accept than a literal god who can wield lightening." The invasion of New York really had changed a lot of people's mindsets, though, even if Thor was actually an alien and not a literal god. "And doing that showed just what an awesome guy you turned out to be," she said, looking up at him and smiling. "And I would hope you'd think so! There should be no worlds without a Darcy Lewis."

"They'd be all the poorer for it," Thor agreed with a wide grin. He let out a heavy sigh and stood, ambling around the room, lightly picking up items of interest to inspect. "I hate that I had to leave, and that I had to destroy the Bifrost in order to save a world that I had intended to destroy myself not too long before. And Jane... I never stopped looking for her, as she never stopped looking for me... and we found each other again."

Darcy stood up as he talked, feeling the earth (metaphorically, of course, as they were on a space ship) move around her a bit but she was feeling determined. She walked over to him and rested a hand on his big beefy arm. "She understands that, big guy. And you'll find each other again. I can't imagine why that gem thing wouldn't pull her back to help save the universe here."

Thor smiled. "She really could save any universe that she's in," he agreed. He looked down at Darcy. She was a very tiny and sweet Midgardian. "Are you having trouble standing up, Darcy Lewis?" He teased. Still, he wasn't so thick as to not know that she was offering him comfort and he accepted it gratefully. He wrapped that muscular arm around her shoulders and held her. "You are a good friend."

"Yeah, perks of being a genius," she remarked. "Oh shush you," she said playfully, letting him wrap her up in those big meaty arms. Thor hugs were the best hugs. "So are you, big guy. "
