Who: Belle Jones and Billy Batson
What: Meeting at the Movies
When: Friday night, February 21st
Where: The movie theatre
Belle knew very few people so far, really she only knew one well, and really she only knew of Angela Jeremiah. This was her first time meeting her. So on Friday night Belle had no plans and decided to go to a movie all by herself. This way she figured she could eat all her popcorn and candy herself and not have to share. Or so she thought. She didn't even know what she was watching. She had just brought a random ticket to whatever was playing and then went inside to find a seat. She found herself sitting beside a guy about her own age since it was so crowded this was really the only empty seat in the theatre. She peered over at him curiously and smiled. "Hi there." She greeted him, a friendly, flirtatious smile. Even when she was not flirting she looked like she was. But in this case, she was flirting. She was just a natural flirt.
Billy also was kind of loning it these days, hanging out mostly with his adoptive family and other times working, hitting school and mostly being alone.
He had fallen out of the habit of hanging out with people and tonight he wanted to get out, so he headed to a movie.
He had bought soda and candy, too, and was there smiling as he suddenly realized a girl had sat down next to him. As he realized how hot she was, he offered her a smile and a nod.
"Hi!" He flushed as he was shushed by people, and offered her a shrug in apology. "I have no idea what movie this is." he was quieter now.
Belle had only a few days of school since arriving here and so she hadn’t met many people at FT high yet either. Back home in France she always had plans, always had something to do. This was new to her not having plans.
This guy was cute though and so she grinned at him, and replied, “I didn’t look either. I just told the guy out front to give me a ticket for a show at this time.” She admitted. She looked around and someone shushed her. She rolled her eyes. “The movie hasn’t even started yet.” She told this boy with a laugh.
"Yeah, I guess we should be quiet." he poked her with a laugh and an amused snort, but he offered her the peanut butter M&Ms he had bough, because why not? And because she had cute eyes, okay?
Billy flushed as he thought that and grinned to himself as he waited for the movie to start. Previews were not only just beginning, and he was hoping this was a good movie. But his eyes kept sliding back to the girl next to him.
“For now anyway.” She grinned at him slyly. She held her hand out at the familiar orange bag. “Thank you. How did you know these are my favorite?” She asked and held out her own sour patch kids. “Want some of mine, too? It’s only fair if I eat yours.” She offered him; mischievously.
“I'm Isabella. But you can call me Belle.” She said as she munched on his m&m’s. “And you’re my date for tonight now. I like you, you’re cute.” She explained as if it made perfect sense, which in her head it did. She rested her arm on the armrest near his arm.
He poured her some candy and then nodded. "Please. I love those. I am fond of sour things." Her smile made him grin wider as he nodded, holding out his own hand, letting it brush hers as he did so.
Was he trying to flirt? Maybe. God, he had no idea what he was doing. But... she was smiling, so. Yes.
"That's a beautiful name. I'm Billy. Well, William, but I go by Billy." He nodded.
He blinked at her words, turning bright red, but he managed to stammer out. "Really? I am so not cute. You? You are hot. And... okay." He et his own armrest against hers, just lightly touching. Date? Did she say date? Oh god.
“You have good taste in candy. That’s bonus points so far.” Belle told him as she poured some candy into his hand with a smile.
She, on the other hand, was good at flirting and purposely let her hand touch his as she poured candy into it. She also made sure she rested her arm on his by the armrest.
“I like that name, Billy. It’s cute like you.” She added and laughed. “So now that means after this you and I are going to grab something to eat too.” She insisted, boldly. “Let’s see how your taste in food is. What do you want to eat after the movie?”
He felt almost overloaded by her jumps in statements, but... honestly, that was alright. He liked it. Billy grinned at her and considered her.
"Well, if I am going to be out with a beautiful girl, I'd love to hit some good food, but nothing too pretentious this time, so... how about the really good burger shop down the road, the one that makes those huge burgers and malts?"
He took a breath and a chance. "And next time, we can get Italian. " Yep, here he was, asking her out on another date. Thing, Yes. Oh god.
She was just like that. She got it from her mom who always seemed to be into this guy or that guy throughout Isabella’s whole life. So Belle always felt she needed a guy around, too. She liked Billy though. He was cute and nice enough not to tell her to go away or ignore her.
“You can’t go wrong with burgers and shakes and fries.” Belle agreed with him.
She grinned. Well, he went from shy to bold really quick. He was learning already. “You got yourself a date, well two. And then on the third let’s try out sushi if we can find a good place.” She said seeing what he said to her adding a third date to their plans.”
He cocked his head to the side, considering her, then slowly nodded. "Sushi, and swimming. I know a place."
His grin was shy, but also bouncy as he nudged her gently. She was pretty and bold, and she knew what she liked and apparently she wanted him to take her out? And... well, that was fine with him.
"There's an old-time movie marathon next week if you would like to make that what we do before Italian?"
“Well a man with a plan, are you, Billy? I like it. You got yourself a deal.” She promised him. She nudged him, smiling. “What movies are they playing at that? Or are we just going to go and not know what we’re watching again?” She teased him.
He laughed and grinned wider, loving that he actually had a date... three dates. He was so confused but happy. Why not?
"Hmm? Oh, they will be playing a lot of oldies like Casablanca, the original Dracula, Abbot And Costello meet the Wolfman and more. Some really good, really old movies." He nodded.
This happened to Belle a lot. This wasn’t new to her. But she was excited to see Billy again two more times after this.
Belle’s eyes widened. “I love Casablanca. It’s my favorite. But will you hold my hand if I get scared during Dracula or the wolfman?” She asked flirting some more.
For him, this was all brand new and he was excited. He grinned at her, eyeing her as she said that. and he chuckled.
"Of course. I'd even hug you if you think it would help. I don't want you to think you ever have to be scared with me."
Belle eyed him. “No, I do not feel fear from you. You’re sweet.” She told him, glancing at the screen and earning another shush from around them as the previews started. “Play your cards right and you’ll get a hug later after we get our dinner and you walk me home.” She grinned.
"A hug, huh?" He grinned as he snuggled in against her, arm on arm, and watched the previews. Glancing at her now and then, he still was marveling at her.
"Are you sure you wouldn't want me to drive you home?" His voice was very quiet, mostly for her ears.
She nodded and put her arm through his to touch closer while they sat. “I didn’t know you had a car but yes that would be a lot faster than walking. Warmer too.” Plus there was always the bonus of the backseat of his car. She giggled at the thought.
Her arm sliding through his sent a shiver through him, and his grin seemed like it might never go away. "Yeah, I work a lot so I managed to afford a small car. It gets me places. " And it did have a back seat, even if he had no idea that was a thing she was interested in.
As the movie started, he paid attention, but after a while, he started finding his attention drifting to her, and to the silhouette of her face as she watched the show. She really was pretty.
“That’s great. Where do you work? A job would probably be a good thing to get here since my mom's not here and I’m not sure how much the group home provides for me outside necessities.” Belle admitted.
She watched the previews and they chatted some more, with her asking what kind of car it was.
A few minutes into the movie actually starting she turned her head at the same moment he turned to her and since she was sitting so close to him their lips were close enough to almost be kissing so she grinned and placed a kiss on his lips to see what he would do.
"I work at a radio station." he grinned at her and chatted with her, and told her about his little four-door sedan.
When she kissed him, he blinked as he stared at her, then took a breath and took another chance and kissed her back, only he actually kissed her a good one, a slow, easy, hey, I am interested, kind of kiss.
“That’s so cool. What do you do at the station?” She asked him curiously.
She put her hands on his shoulders and leaned into to be more comfortable kissing him back.
"I mostly work sound, and copy edit, but occasionally, they let me report small stuff." He grinned at her. It was fun, if not glamorous.
At that, he shifted so he could face her better, let one hand rest on her shoulder and the other on her side, not thinking it was just below the line of her chest, and kissed her back, letting himself really get into it.
When the kiss broke, his eyes were wide. "Wow." His voice was whisper quiet.
“Hey, we all have to start somewhere. I think it’s sweet you work at the radio station. I would love to see it someday. If I am allowed in.” She added.
They had a little make-out session going and when they broke apart she smiled, no beamed. “Uh-huh. That was something.” She said staring at him. “Something we should do again.” She said.
"Of course." And he grinned at her shyly.
"I agree. But maybe not here in front of all the people." His cheeks were red as he glances at the movie they were not really watching.
"Wanna get out of here?"
She laughed and looked at the screen. “We should. Not like either of knows what we’re watching anyway. Your car is probably more comfortable anyway.”
"We could go get food and kiss somewhere along the way." He rose and offered her his hand and led the way out of the theater.
Outside, he led her to his car, a dark blue sedan, and opened the door for her, grinning. "If the miss will enter." And nodded, kissing her before she could get in.
Once she was in, he went around to get in the driver's seat and smiled at her as he buckled in. "Hi."
Belle laughed. “Blunt. I like it. But yes come on. I’m starved.” She grinned at him as she took his hand.
She curtsied and entered his car gracefully. “Nice car.” She said after he kissed her and she sat down.
He came around to his side of the car to find her in her seat waiting and grinning. What did she do?
He settled to his seat, eyeing her, grinning a little. "You are cute, you know that?" And he shook his head as he buckled in and started the car.
But before putting it in gear, he eyed her. "Burgers? Or are you hungry for something else?" He did not think how that might sound.
Belle nodded. “Well so are you.” She told him. She shrugged. “I still want to taste these burgers and malts you spoke of before. Are you still alright with burgers?”
"I am." He grinned as he put the car in gear and sent them down the road. "I just like making sure my dates are happy." he nodded to her, cheeks blushing. Date. Huh. "Not that I have had a lot of those, but, yes."
"So what brought you to the movies tonight?"
Belle nudged his arm. "So modest, too." She teased him. "Oh yea, dates? So I am just tonight's date?" She went on with a giggle.
"I have never actually had one, before." Maybe he should not have said that, but... well, he was not a liar.
"You are a date because you made it a date, but I like you, so you are stuck with me until you say no to more dates."
Belles's eyes widened in surprise. “Really? Are the girls around here blind or just dumb?” She asked giggling. She shrugged. “Well let’s get through my next three promised dates first and then go from there.”
"Hey, maybe they just don't notice me. That's fine. I'm glad because that means I get to have my first three dates with you and so far that is being really fun."
Billy grinned at her and nodded. He was having a lot of fun and as he drove, he was grinning to himself.
This was amazing out of nowhere he suddenly had not just a date tonight right now with this sexy woman but he also had two more lined up already. Somehow his life had become even more amazing than it already was. He wasn't sure that that would have been possible before today but it now suddenly very was. Here he was kissing an incredibly pretty girl and with two dates lined up. He was just grinning as wide as could be as he drove.
“I like that answer, that you were basically waiting for me,” Belle replied with a smile. “I’m looking forward to exploring this planet with you, too.” She added.
“So what other sorts of stuff is there to do around here that we can explore together besides eating Italian and sushi and burgers this time. Isn’t there anything to do around this world but eat that we can do together?” She asked him, curiously.
"Well if we get permission we can go and see the dragons in Dragonstone and we can go see the castle at winter something and there's a lot of different places we can go and see there are beaches there's new Hawaii which has lovely beaches so we could go swimming, and there are mountains to hiking and camping. There is a lot to do here." Billy grinned at her as he smiled and drove. The restaurant wasn't far away so it wouldn't take them very long to get there and right now he was just happy.
“Hopefully the group home is lenient and lets me kind of just come and go within reason. I don’t have a guardian yet.” She reminded him. “I would love to see this castle! I could pretend to be a princess.” She grinned. “Oh my goodness I have always wanted to go to Hawaii. Is all of Hawaii here?” She asked him curiously. “I didn’t realize how big this planet was.” She said excitedly.
"I am not sure as far as like whether it's actually Hawaii or if it is just a Beach area that people are calling Hawaii but I'd love to find out with you and you know if you are going to pretend to be a princess I could pretend to be your knight in shining polyester..."
Billy grinned at her. He was enjoying this conversation and making plans with her even though they had just met somehow he felt completely at ease with making plans.
"That's too bad but I guess I would not know the difference anyway since I have never been to the real Hawaii," Belle said with a laugh. She giggled. "My Prince Charming sounds better to me." She added.
"I don't know that I'm a prince or a charming person but thank you. As long as you want me to accompany you on these trips and dates I'll be there."
He was having fun as he pulled into the parking lot and shut down the car. "Here we go."
But before he could move, he turned, leaned in, and kissed her again, taking a chance. Taking chances with her seemed to be the theme of the evening and Billy couldn't say he minded. Suddenly, his life seemed a whole lot more exciting and he couldn't wait to find out how things would go.
“I want you along. I think it’ll be fun with you.” Belle assured him. She looked out the car window and smiled. “This looks great. You know what I miss. The food at the dot, a place back home that we all hung out at.” She said suddenly. And then she looks at him before getting out of the car and her lips met his. She grinned, her arms going around him and kissed him back. “Were never going to eat you know.” She teased him.
"Oh, I am hungry." Billy grinned, kissed her a fast second kiss, then slipped from her grasp and out of the car, going around to open her door for her. he offered her his hand as he smiles warmly.
"Shall we?" The restaurant was warm inside, and the outside was cool, so he led the way in quickly, and they were given an almost private booth to sit in with menus and water.
Belle laughed and shoved his chest playfully. "Hungry for what though?" She teased him. She rolled her eyes but was smiling and when he got out and came to give her a hand out of the car she beamed brighter. "Thank you, kind sir." She told him, holding his hand all the way in until they sat down.
"That would be telling."
Once they were sitting, he chuckled, smiling at her. "They have such good burgers here I recommend the delight." He pointed it out on the menu, which described it as a single patty burger with the works. Cheese, mushrooms, special sauce, onions, fries, and guacamole all on a special bun.
He sits so one arm still touches her, finding he likes that, a lot.
Belle laughed. "Ok, I will wait until you will admit it." She joked. She groaned in ecstasy. "That sounds amazing. I love a burger with the works. Please tell me they have sweet potato fries, too." She insisted on reading the menu.
"They do, they do..." He grinned at her and as a waiter came by, he raised a hand and they stopped so he could order two burgers and orders or sweet potato fries. Then he turned to her, grinning.
"Now, what is a, your favorite food, and b, your favorite thing to do for fun?"
"Oh, man. I am in heaven. My favorite." She said, in her newly acquired French accent, since living there awhile. (I forgot she had a little accent) "Hmm, my absolute favorite food is actually sweet potato fries. I could eat them every day." She laughed. "What about you?"
That accent made him shiver. Nice.
"My favorite food is grilled cheese sandwiches. Nothing beats a good grilled cheese." He nodded at her.
"And what is your favorite thing to do?"
"I make a mean grilled cheese. I will have to make it for you sometime." She told him. "I don't know. I mean, I like to do a lot. I like to play video games, I like to dance, I like fashion, mostly modeling clothes. I love photography but mostly being in front of a camera. Do you have a favorite thing?"
"Oh yeah? Do that and I will do anything you ask." His grin was utterly warm and teasing.
"I love playing music and singing And also making clothes. I used to make them for a friend, specializing in corsets."
“Slave for life. I do like the sound of that.” Belle grinned. “You design clothes and I model them? This really is a match made in heaven, huh? What do you sing, your own songs or covers?” She went on to ask.
"Well only if you treat me right." Billy smart as he considered what she had said and nodded she really was an amazing girl and he had met her somehow and she actually liked somehow damn he wasn't really sure what was happening but he was not going to argue.
"I mostly do covers but I have designed and sung a few original songs. I just haven't gotten around to doing more yet."
“I will treat you right. You’re a good guy Billy.” She replied. She nodded listening to him speak. “Maybe I can hear one of your songs sometime.”
"I've no doubt." Billy grins at her. She was cute.
"I'd be glad to play and sing for you sometime. "
"I will hold you to that, Billy." She insisted. "And don't forget now we have a fourth date where I make you grilled cheese." She reminded him.
Billy laughed. "A fourth date, hmmm? Well, maybe I will play for you then, on that one." He nodded.
Somehow, he had four dates scheduled in under an hour. How had that happened? He looked at her in wonder, then, just because, rose and leaned over to kiss her again.
"Thank you. I'm having fun."
“Music and mac and cheese. Maybe add some making out and we have the three M’s.” She said with a laugh. She grinned when he kissed her again. This night sure has taken a turn.
"Sounds like fun. Music, makeouts and mac and cheese." he chuckled and felt like his whole life here had suddenly taken a turn into something brighter. How the heck?
He didn't care how or why, as long as it was real. He never wanted to take up from this dream.
"I can already feel inspiration rising. I am going to write you a song."
Belle laughed. "It will be fun." She promised. Her eyes widened. "My own song just for me alone? That's awesome."
"With you around, I absolutely believe it will be fun."
Billy was coming to believe Bell already and he was definitely interested in seeing where this went. He had no idea what he expected or even what he wanted at this point but he was liking the kissing and the talking.
As she asked a question, he nodded. "Yes, a song just for you, inspired by you."
"I think we make a pretty good team, don't you." She stated the obvious. "Like I said I am holding you to that. I want to hear at least the beginning by our fourth date." She teased him.
"You will," Billy promised it and grinned at her. He was having a lovely time. Of course, the food was delivered then and he sat back as they started to eat.
"You are amazing."
“This looks delicious.” She said as the food was placed down.
Things were quiet for a while as they sat and ate. But it was a comfortable silence.
After some little while eating, he sat back, looking at her, curious and amazed still that she had decided to... well, all of it. Why? But he was grinning, too. She was making him smile and he couldn't argue with that.
"Do you like dancing?"
"I love dancing." She said between bites of fries, grinning pretty widely herself. "Why? What do you have in mind next before my curfew at home?"
"When is your curfew?" he was thinking. "And does the home have a roof that is flat, or tilted?" he grinned as he nodded, eyes dancing, and got back to eating, mind racing.
Belle shrugged. “I know there is one but I don’t know the time. I haven’t been going out beyond school yet.” She explained then laughed. “I am not sure. I haven’t been up to the roof yet. We could find out together.” She suggested.
"I like this idea." he shifted to face her. "How do you feel about magic?" Curiosity and worry both colored his eyes and his tone.
"I love it. I used to watch this friend of my moms on TV when I was little and he did all kinds of stuff like magic and whatever." She told him. "Do you do magic?"
Billy grinned as he nodded. "I do, When we are done eating, I will show you."
He dug into his food, grinning, hopeful, now, and smiling wider. He wanted to share some of his worlds with her.
"I can't wait to see." She said munching on some fries. "Maybe I can be your assistant if you ever do a show."
Billy chuckled. "I don't do a lot of stage magic." He spoke a single word, and held out a hand, and on it a simple rose formed, the color of her eyes.
"I do more... old school stuff."
"Oh. So what kind of magic is there besides for stage magic?" She asked curiously, just as he held out a rose to her. "Wow. This is so beautiful. How? I love it." She brought it to her nose to sniff. "Thank you, Billy."
"Actual magic, Belle."
Billy grinned at her, eyes warm. "Sometimes, there are more things than we are told that exist."
"That is so cool." She said again. "I am noticing that around these parts." She added. "But in a good way."
" I'm glad I would love to show you Magic to make you smile." Billy had never been motivated to show off his magic at all, but today, with this girl who he supposed was almost a girlfriend at this point, he wanted to show her his magic, not to show off, but because he wanted to make her smile, to make her laugh, and to make her happy.
“I like you Billy. You’re cute. Funny too.” Belle told him. “If we want to have those four other dates at least that many, I should go now though. I am not sure what my curfew actually is yet. I’m still new there.” She reminded him. “I wish I didn’t have to go though.”
Billy nodded. "So be it."
Billy rose and he grinned at her.
"I wish you didn't have to either. However, since you do, we might as well have fun. I'll drive you home. And there, you know, if you're willing, give you one last kiss. A promise of sorts for the next date."
Belle laughed. “All the kisses for you.” She promised. “I’ll find out the rules at the home for next time more throughly when we hang out again.” She added.
Billy grinned as he dropped some money on the table for their food, adding a substantial tip. then he extended a hand to her, grinning.
"Then lets go."
He led the way out to the car, opening the door for her, and using the moment to catch another kiss from her, a gentle one, but a kiss nonetheless. She had him feeling a little bold.
Soon they would be off toward her place, and to saying goodnight.
For now? He was happy he was with her.
"Thank you." She said when he paid.
She grinned and wrapped her arms around him when he went for a kiss to deepen it just a little. Then they both got in the car and drove off, she took his hand in hers. She would kiss him again before getting out of the car at the home. "Thanks for joining me tonight, Billy. Call me and we can get together for date #2 if you still want it." She promised before they part ways for the night with one last kiss.
