Who: Regina and Ryan Where: Freedomtown When: New Year's Eve Rating: M - language, sexual references
After being so grumpy and alone for so long, Regina had FINALLY gotten a couple people interested in her! And not only that, but both girls were potential dateables! All she had to do now was get herself over Ryan. Which was never going to be easy.
Still, she was in a good mood for once, and decided to take a walk through town, enjoying a coffee and just people-watching. Later that night, she'd be on the first date she'd had in two years.
Ryan was out running errands. She couldn't borrow sugar from the neighbors all the damn time. She was dressed in waist-high black dress pants and a green mesh tanktop, a myriad of tattoos visible on her tan skin. After getting most of what she needed, she popped into the nearest coffee shop for a pick me up before heading over to the nearest tram stop (Gotham was great and all, but it didn't have everything that she needed). Honestly, she was trying to distract herself. The messages that Regina had swapped with a few people on the network had unleashed a jealous rage monster inside her that she wasn't prepared for. Was she jealous that Regina was trying to get over her? Or that her attention was focused on other people? Or was it something else? The thought of someone else even touching--She growled.
Sometimes, being a precog could come in handy. While she was lost in thought, happy about her upcoming date, only one thing could make her light up like a damn Christmas tree: she had a vision of Ryan, walking toward her. Which, knowing her powers, she knew had to be moments away. So she sprinted off in that general direction, pale skin a little pink from the cool, crisp air. "Ryan?"
Ryan's face lit up when she heard Regina's voice and her smile widened when she met her eyes, as she always did when she saw her. "Well hey there, cutie." Nope. Not going to talk about that jealous rage monster. Nope. "What are you doing over this way?"
"Just taking a walk... I like the cool air." The petite blonde said, as always feeling her ears turn red whenever she looked at Ryan. "I, um... I have a date later. Tonight, I mean. For New Year's." She rambled, cursing herself for being so gushy over her friend when she had plans to get together this same day with a gorgeous girl who actually DID want her.
Yeah I saw was miraculously not the first thing that came out of Ryan's mouth but if it had been Regina would have heard the jealousy in her voice. "That's... that's great, sweetie. Who is she?" She couldn't hide how taken aback she was. Couldn't hide the fact that her tone and demeanor had changed. No. No. You had your chance. It's not for you to take away her happiness now.
"Debbie." Regina said, trying to blink herself back into her right mind. "Her name, I mean. Is Debbie. Not gonna pretend to know why she seems so into me, but she's really hot, so... not gonna complain."
Ryan snorted. "You don't know why she'd be so into you? What, do you need a list?" Ryan was overcome with the overwhelming desire to just drop everything and kiss her already and she didn't know how she had the restraint not to. "You're amazing. Any girl, any woman," she corrected, "would be lucky to have you."
"Yeah. Any woman." Regina said with a sad smile, knowing full well what that meant: any woman EXCEPT ONE. "So anyway... what're you doing for tonight? Some wild, crazy party, I imagine?"
"Beyond spending time with you at some point I hadn't really thought about it," Ryan admitted, looking away to hide the emotions roiling through her. Hearing that one thought? Stung. Maybe she was right to put some distance between them, maybe Regina was better off with someone else--"Oh, for fuck's sake. You know what? I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't realize how deeply you felt for me. I'm sorry for stringing you along for so long. And I'm sorry that I thought that what I felt was just friendship."
"Wait.... what?" Regina asked, blinking so much and so rapidly that it would've been hilarious if it wasn't so sad. "Ryan? What the hell are you telling me here?"
"I love you, okay? I love you so much that the thought of anyone flirting with you or touching you or kissing--I would set that woman on fire before I let that happen. And I know that it's stupid and it's late and it's really possessive of me and I know that I'm rambling and I'm not a rambler but I can't help it. And I'm sorry. All I want to do is kiss you and tell you that I'm sorry over and over again." This, Ryan said all in one breath with a broken sob in between.
That was a LOT to take in. And more than likely poor Regina was going to fall the fuck APART later over it. But for now? She had about the oddest reaction imaginable. First? She softly punched Ryan in the shoulder. "What the fuck, Ryan?" She said in an exasperated tone, before grabbing the older girl and planting the longest, most hungry and passionate kiss she'd ever given ANYONE on her.
Ryan dropped everything, literally dropped everything that she'd been carrying and put all of herself into the kiss, pulling Regina as physically close to her as possible and muttering 'I'm sorry' between each frantic, hungry kiss.
"Poor Debbie..." Regina said, once the kiss finally broke. She felt like hell, but she knew the date was not gonna happen now. At least not the way it had been planned. "Looks like someone's not getting laid tonight. God I'm gonna look like the biggest bitch..."
Ryan cupped Regina's cheeks and went in for another kiss, drawing it out for as long as she could until their need to breathe became an issue. "No that's me babe. Tell her that your thundercunt of a best friend finally got enough sense to see what was right in front of her."
"I'm so confused right now..." Regina admitted with a combination of a laugh and a sniffle. "Like... is this really happening? If so, am I reading it right? Am I looking too far into things?"
"You're kidding, right?" Ryan asked with a husky chuckle. She hooked her fingers in one of Regina's belt loops and tugged her in for another kiss, keeping it gentle and playful this time. "I love you and I wanna be with you."
Regina couldn't help (try as she might) the tears that welled up in her eyes. She'd resigned herself to the fact that this moment was never going to happen long ago. "Goddammit, Ryan..." she sniffled, her voice cracking as she snuck a few more little kisses in. "I've been in love with you for six years... you've always been the only one for me..."
Ryan went in for nuzzles after all those little kisses, just taking the time to breathe Regina in. She'd always loved how she smelled. "Six years... Goddamn, you're patient."
"Patient, she says." Regina huffed, still such a bitchy little thing sometimes. "I'm lucky I haven't decimated my right wrist by now, woman."
"Does it make me a sleaze and a half if my first thought was 'need a hand'?" Ryan asked with a hilariously cheesy grin. She traced her fingers along Regina's bare arm. It was like... the blinders had been taken off. She could finally see her. "Will you ever forgive me?"
"If so, I'm just as bad because I had to stop myself about ten different times from sending you photos with a "wish you were here" text..." Regina replied in that comically disaffected drawl of hers. "And you're already forgiven, dumbass. Geez."
Ryan looped her hands behind Regina so she could trace her fingertips along the small of her back. "'Wish you were here', huh?" She tried not to smirk. Tried. "Well, I'm here NOW," she said, trying to get her point across without being vulgar about it (shock, horror).
"Waaaaaaaitaminute." Regina laughed, one eyebrow slowly rising. "Are you saying what I think you're saying? Because if you are? I'm about to be the most tacky woman alive and drag you behind a tree or something."
Ryan gave Regina's bottom lip a playful nip. "Well, how about you come back to my place and we do some catching up and then we go from there?" She asked. Hilariously enough, now that she'd started touching and kissing Regina, she didn't have the restraint to stop. Through the years of their friendship Regina probably would have seen her act that way with one other person. Despite her sexual conquests, when Ryan loved someone it was readily apparent - in the way she couldn't stop touching them, in the smile that reached her eyes, the way that she hung on every word spoken and couldn't take her eyes off that person.
Hilariously, while Regina had wanted this from the moment she met Ryan, she was almost a little spooked by it now! Only because she wasn't at ALL used to seeing her like this. But knowing it was all for her now? Felt damn good. "Ok, but I'm telling you... I plan on staying all night. Because I have years worth of wanting you to get out."
"Look at this face," Ryan said, tone and expression deadly serious. "Does this look like the face of someone who worries about you staying all night?" She quirked an eyebrow as if in punctuation to her point.
"Hm." Regina mumbled, narrowing her eyes as she studied Ryan's face for a few moments. "No, you've got a point there. That DOES look like the face of someone who's about to get mauled right here in the park if she doesn't take me to her place soon, though..."
"OK. OK. Geez. I didn't realize you were so pushy," Ryan teased, giving Regina a playful little shove. "Shit." Remembering all the stuff she dropped, she picked it all up, hilariously juggling it about so she could carry it in one hand before taking Regina's hand in the other. "God, I'm gonna so be your bitch," she realized before leading her to the tram stop, all the quicker to get back to her apartment.
"Yeah.... probably." Regina said with a dry deadpan, the little smirk on her lips almost maddening. "Just think of it as payback for years of crying and waterlogged fingers." OH MY GOD. And the almost monotone way she said these kind of things...
"Well hey, look at it this way. Any tears now? Will be the result of pure ecstasy and these fingers?" She brought up Regina's hand to kiss along her knuckles. "Will be worshiped, along with every other inch of you."
