John was just getting used to these new surroundings. He was in a jeans and a t-shirt, and had let his hair grow out a bit. He was getting antsy not knowing what was going to happen in the future anymore.
Marcus looked at the address in his hand. This was his John’s address. He knocked on the door. “Hey, John. This is me, Marcus.“
John heard the familiar voice at the door. He opened it and immediately gave Marcus a hug. "Hey Marcus! You don't know how happy I am to see you here!" He invited him in. He had been extremely lonely. "You up for a chat?"
Marcus nodded , hugging him back. “Of course old friend.” He walked in and sat down. “Of course. He was glad to see john a bit more relaxed lately. It’s been a while.”
"Yeah it has. I haven't ventured forth or anything in this new world. I'm unsure of what to think about anything." John admitted. He took a seat next to Marcus on the couch. "I haven't even been to see my mom...erm either version of her."
Marcus sighed “I have news, john. It might be hard to understand but I haven’t seen Blair in a long time and she moved on after my death so I talked with your older mom.”
John raised a brow. "Yeah? Did she shoot you?"
Marcus frowned. “Almost, shock reaction.”
"I imagine she didn't treat you very well at first. Remember, I didn't know what to think of you when we first met." John explained.
Marcus nodded “That’s true. She thought of me like your different timeline uncle did.”
"Yeah. Uncle Derek can be a bit intense at times. But, he's been through a lot. I haven't even been to see him or Kyle." John sighed.
Marcus sighed “I did see Kyle , our Kyle. He lives with Derek which I gotta be cautious a bit with. A younger Sarah lives with them. Though I doubt I’ll be anyone’s T-800.”
John chuckled. "Derek doesn't like anyone really. I don't think he likes me." He admitted. "He might warm up to you eventually. I'm not really sure."
Marcus said. “He’s your uncle. But sometimes blood is thicker than water meaning sometimes outside your family can become your family more than your real family sometimes. You guys had a real family. Lots of people decided I didn’t deserve a second chance when I was in prison.”
John nodded. "Exactly, and you are family to me no matter what. I never had a chance to tell you that before you..." He couldn't get out the words.
Marcus sighed and was quiet “John, that means a lot to me. Seriously. I should tell you when I died I was in a coma when I was buried. I felt everything and my heart regrew. I’m sorry john.
John's eyes grew wide. He was quiet for a moment. "Oh...fuck! We wouldn't have buried you if we had known that. I'm so sorry!" Tears welled in his eyes and he stood up, suddenly angry. He wanted to punch something.
Marcus places a hand on John’s shoulder “John, it’s not your fault. You had no way of knowing I was alive.” Marcus tried to calm his friend.
"I know that!" John said gruffly. "It still broke my heart to have to bury you!"
Marcus tried to stay strong for John’s sake and literally cracked under the pressure “john, I had to bury you when you sacrificed so much for us after so much war. It killed me in my timeline to have to bury the man I saved once.” If cyborgs didn’t cry that rumor was now null: Marcus cried. Marcus turned “Ok got it. I guess we had to do the same. “This place is better than home so far.”
John’s lower lip quivered. “Sorry. My mom taught me to be the good soldier. You know, keep my head up and never ever cry. Since then I stuff it all down and carry on like nothing ever happened.” He explained.
Marcus sat down with John. “It’s rough carrying the weight of the world sometimes. I wish you never have to die in front of people who accused you of killing someone. Connor, you are stronger than I am sometimes.”
“I have done it for so long, you have no idea. I usually come across as this tough guy act. But then once in a while you get the real me.” John explained.
Marcus looked up “would you go back to fighting the war in your timeline if you had to go back?” Marcus was enjoying peace more than going back.
John thought for a moment. “Yes, because that’s what I was taught to do. Here, I’m a little lost.” He admitted.
Marcus nodded “I would lose everything I worked for if I went back and helped finish the war with you John but it’s a hard choice. If I went back Blair would kick my ass now."
John gave Marcus a confused look. “Why would she kick your ass? Are you seeing someone else?”
Marcus looked up “John I’ve been dead for years, Blair moved on right?”
John shrugged. “I suppose.”
Marcus sighed “The war is over in my timeline John, I can save your timeline and let you know how to win the war in yours.”
John shook his head. “Possibly. But that’s neither here nor now.” He looked over at Marcus with a mischievous grin. “You are stalling. So who are you seeing?”
Marcus frowned. “You’ll hate me for this. He was tensing waiting to hear disapproval from his longtime friend and co. “You’re other old timeline mother.” Marcus was waiting for something bad to happen.
John’s eyes widened then he started laughing. “My mom? That’s a good one, Marcus. But I hope you can come up with something better.” He was hoping Marcus wasn’t serious, but something told John that he was. He got two cold beers out of the fridge and sat one in front of Marcus. Then he sat down and gave Marcus that intimidating glare of his.
Marcus sighed as he took a drink. His friend and co for many years would think him weird for dating his mom of another timeline. Marcus sighed. “John listen I’m serious. It’s going to be strange for a while.”
“Damn it, Marcus! Don’t you think I don’t know that? It’s my mom! Isn’t there an age difference?” He asked. He turned and gave him that demanding look again. “You haven’t fucked her have you? What are you going to do if my Dad comes in?”
Marcus looked him straight in the eyes “I didn’t. But she deserves better than me. Leave her alone. She is lonely and never had Kyle in the timeline where you got killed.”
John sighed. “I get that. And can you even fuck?” John asked, bluntly. He waved his arms. “I have never heard of metal being in a relationship before.”
Marcus raised an eyebrow “How did you think me and Blair fucked a while ago?” John was asking the hard questions.
John scowled. “I just figured you didn’t.” He took a swig of his beer. “You don’t care about the age difference? She’s my mom! Yuck!”
Marcus looked at John. “It’s hard to explain how Blair and I had a relationship. But yeah at first I never knew how I could have a relationship with someone real. I discovered me and your mother had similar stories.
John was quiet for a moment. “Yeah you do. I can see the loneliness in her eyes. It’s the same I have.” He explained.
Marcus sighed “I know you guys are lonely. I’m glad to have others around but I may be metal but I act more human than Skynet ever planned I would be.”
“I know that Marcus. You gave me your heart. Look, it’s weird but I wouldn’t want anyone else dating my mom besides you. I mean it. But what if my Dad comes back?” He asked again. “What will happen then?”
Marcus thought for a moment, “I’d be willing to share with Kyle. But not sure of the reactions from him to be honest, if he does find out.”
John shrugged and gave a look of disdain. “Probably similar to mine at first. Look, it’s weird for me. But I will get used to it. Just make her happy.”
Marcus nodded “No worries, I plan to keep her happy.”
“Good.” John sighed not knowing what to do or say next. “Now that we have that over with I suppose we need to get used to each other again.”
Marcus nodded “Same.”
“I’m not sure what I think about another me around. Are you prepared to meet him?” John asked curiously.
Marcus looked up “I remember talking for a short time on the network but I’m not quite sure what to think. He’s you as a teenager.”
John nodded. “Yes. He is me before I was affected by the war and had my training. But I wouldn’t necessarily say he is naive.”
Marcus nodded “Right that is true to be honest. There is still a lot to learn from your teenager side but you can also teach him what he needs to know before he grows to you
“I think that Derek has done a good job with that. I know he gets frustrated because he’s nowhere near me. But I think he tried with him.” John replied. “I think Mom is worried about him though.”
Marcus sighed “It’s going to be strange for a while even though I saw a message that John didn’t come out of his room. Is he happy or worried? I’m not sure what to think.
“I’m not sure if I can help or not. He’s me, but I will be a complete stranger to him.” John explained.
The two men continued talking until the early morning. They had a lot to catch up on.
