Who: Lucas Friar and Maya Hunter (AU version) What: Finding her When: Wednesday, November 27th Where: Outside the Welcome Center
Lucas arrived at the welcome center mid-way through a shift at the veterinarian clinic. He had just been about to enter a room with a regular patient in it, a dog he was treated for pain in his back when Lucas found himself in the welcome center.
It took a few moments to get his bearings, but honestly, he was used to odd things happening having been friends with Riley since they were twelve. He smiled thinking of Riley, and for a brief moment wondered if she and Farkle would notice him missing back home. He had not seen either of them in a few months, though. He was actually more concerned for Maya, who he had a date with that evening. He did not like the idea of standing her up. He and Maya had only been seeing each other a few months now, ironically since he and Riley had last seen each other is when he and Maya had started.
Anyway, he hoped if he ever got back home that Maya would not be upset with him. After all the drama in the last ten years of figuring out the whole Maya or Riley dilemma, he felt he was finally where he should be when he asked Maya out for real. And then he disappeared to here, so maybe this was a sign that he and Maya were not meant to be.
But then inside the welcome center, he saw Maya's name on that list of residents. He also saw another Maya actually, and two Riley's, plus the Matthews and Hunter families. His first reaction was to call the Maya listed, and he chose the one living alone, figuring she would at least be over 18 and not the childhood Maya he remembered. And so he contacted Maya to ask her for a lift somewhere, anywhere. He sort of wondered if she would actually come for him, but then again, she wouldn't even leave her old friend Ranger Rick behind, he hoped.
Since he was not a minor he was permitted to leave without a set ride in mind, and so he went outside the center to call Maya for some privacy just in case. He dialed the number they had given him for her and sat on a bench, listening to it ring, phone to his ear, staring out at the scenery around him waiting for her to pick up.
