Who: Alex and Gwen
Where: Alex's Apartment
When: Thursday, January 21st (following these network posts)
What: Alex got Gwen a gift!
Rating: I'd say low-to-mild

After messaging Gwen on the network, Alex waited around in her apartment for the younger woman to arrive. She'd just come off of a supply run and had found something that she knew that Gwen would love, and impulsively bought it for her. It was only after the fact that she realized how monumental that was, but shhh. This was a good thing. And so, she paced the apartment, dressed in tight black jeans and a matching black wife-beater that hugged to her chest tightly. Was she nervous? Just a little bit. Thanks.

Knocking on Alex's door, Gwen had to admit she was both curious and nervous. Curious because, what on earth (no pun intended) could Alex have bought for her? And nervous because... what did this mean? She had gotten the impression that Alex was a little embarrassed to be dating her, and was maybe keeping her as a side thing for now. But do you buy gifts for your side piece? Huh. CONFUSION.

Ahem.

Anyway, dressed in the new outfit she'd told Alex about, a sexy but classy looking white dress, she took a deep breath and waited for Alex to answer.

With an exhale to calm herself, Alex walked over to the door, but stopped herself from opening it straight away. "Eyes. You have to close your eyes," she instructed. Hmmm. Curiouser and curiouser!

Raising an eyebrow briefly, Gwen nonetheless closed her eyes and gave a little chuckle, clearing her throat before saying, "Ok, ok... they're closed. What the hell are you planning, you crazy lady?"

"Well, that's for me to know and you to find out!" Alex teased. She took a look through the peep-hole to satisfy herself that Gwen had closed her eyes, then opened the door--"Wow, you look amazing." She blurted out. She paused and looked at her for a long moment before moving behind Gwen and set her hands on her hips, leading her into the apartment, leading Gwen over to her gift.

Gwen, bless her, actually WHIMPERED when she felt Alex's hands at her hips. "This feels like a gift already..." She said rather adoringly, a little surprised at HERSELF for how bad she was falling for the other woman. To go from just... being curious and lonely to quickly falling in love with a woman? I'd call it understandable that she was a little shocked by it all.

Once Alex had moved Gwen well enough into the apartment, she stopped them moving and traced her middle finger over Gwen's forehead to curl a lock of her hair behind her ear, if only so she could kiss and suckle at her neck. Once satisfied with that, she curled her arms around Gwen's waist and said "open your eyes."

"You are such a te-" She began to reply, before opening her eyes and gazing upon the gorgeous drum kit that now sat in the middle of the room. HOLY HELL. It had to have cost a small fortune, and was far and away better than the one she'd had back home. "Alex! This... this is for me???"

Alex chuckled huskily and released Gwen from her grasp, if only to let Gwen inspect the drum kit for herself. "How many drummers do you THINK I know?" She teased. "Of COURSE it's for you."

"I just... wow. I can't believe you'd do something like this for me..." Gwen said in a hushed tone, tracing her fingertips admiringly along the frame of the kit. "I... have absolutely NO idea to tell you how thankful I am, Alex... this is about the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me..."

Alex smiled and took a seat on the sofa, content to watch Gwen with her new musical instrument. "You're totally welcome. Obviously I don't have any roommates to worry about, so you can play it here if you want. If not, I can help you cart it to your place."

"I guess that depends on how often you're gonna want me here!" Gwen laughed, walking over to sit beside Alex, giving her a HUGE hug. "You kinda awesome, you know that?"

"I do." Alex grinned broadly and leaned over to hook a hand underneath Gwen's thigh. She could be cocky when she needed to be. "So, I take it that you like it?"

"I love it." Gwen told her, being an afffectionate little lovebug, cuddling up to the older woman. "Sometimes I feel like I could just spend days at a time just like this: cuddling with you, not a care in the world..."

"Well, apart from me having to go to my surprisingly legitimate job occasionally, you could do that, you know." Alex pointed out. She traced the tip of her nose along the side of Gwen's neck. Her mind was obviously drifting to other things, but she was trying to keep the conversation on topic, okay?

"I wouldn't be crowding you? By being here too often, I mean?" Gwen asked, not wanting to push anything. "I know you're trying to keep this... under the radar."

Alex let out a surprised laugh. "Because I don't want people to think that I'm taking advantage of you, NOT because I'm ashamed of you, you fucking dork." She was trying to be sweet. Really.

Gwen just stared at Alex, silently, for a long moment, before actually quoting the woman directly. "...are you fucking KIDDING me, Alex?" She blinked, before laughing, LOUDLY. "Ok, so I'm 19. I'm a lot younger than you. But I'm far from naive, and I'm technically strong enough to punch a hole through a car. I don't think anyone's gonna be afraid of me being taken advantage of. Plus you're forgetting something else:" She said, giving a semi-sad smile. "Other than you, there's really nobody here who gives a damn about me one way or the other."

"Oh, fuck off," Alex laughed. "Despite that bitch--Sasha Grey or whoever the fuck she is, people adore you, and don't even start self-deprecating yourself, or I will smack the blonde out of you. Cosima adores you, Doctor Hotpants still talks about the time that you saved her life. You're amazing, so stop that bullshit right now."

"Really?" Gwen asked, sweetly enough looking incredibly touched there. "I guess I... just feel so overlooked all the time that I figured nobody really thought about me one way or the other." She made mental note there to check in with Lauren and Cosima. Well, if Angela let anyone get NEAR Cosima anytime soon. "I didn't ask you about your reasons, just because I figured... I didn't want to rush you. I really want this to last, you know? And I'll do whatever it takes to make that happen. You're kinda the best thing that's ever happened to me, Alex."

Alex let her walls down enough to give Gwen an honest and genuine smile then. She still didn't like feeling vulnerable, especially if there were witnesses, but she was trying. "Well, I don't buy a thousand dollar drum sets for anyone, okay?"

"Well then!" Gwen laughed, giving Alex a bright smile and hugging her again. "Maybe you won't mind if I stay for a few days. Or a week." Awwwr. Someone just couldn't seem to get enough, hm?

That smile was still plastered on Alex's face. "Well, my only stipulation then is that you let me do unsavoury things to you as often as I fucking can." Well, at least she had her priorities sorted.

"Sweetie? If you like, you can take the pad off of the stool to the drum kit and just put your face right under it." OH MY GOD! GWEN! Way to go, Alex. You've corrupted her. "Actually, I think I like the sound of that."

Alex gave Gwen a very obvious once-over. "If you like that dress I suggest you take it off right now before I rip it off of you."

"You." Gwen giggled, shaking her head. "You are making it so freakin' hard not to just completely fall head over heels in love with you..."

"Well, don't fight it. I mean, look at me. I'm completely irresistible," Alex replied smoothly, smug smile on her face. She could play it cocky all she wanted to, but truthfully she was more fragile than she let on.

"No no no... uh-uh." Gwen laughed, quite obviously happier than she'd been in a LONG time. "I am NOT letting myself fall for you until I know it's gonna be a two-way street. I've been down that 'unrequited love' road before and it is SO not for me."

Alex nodded absently and traced the tip of her nose along Gwen's jawline. "You say that like love is something that you can control. Like a switch inside your brain that you can turn on or off. It doesn't really work like that," she pointed out, tracing a hand over Gwen's head, smoothing down her hair.

"I know, I know..." Gwen sighed, finding herself more and more unable to hide anything from Alex. "Thing is... I try. Because when I got here, and I saw Peter with Jean... it broke my heart. I tried to pass it off more as anger, but I had never felt more unwanted or hurt in my LIFE. And now that I have you..." She trailed off, looking away for fear of the tears in her eyes being visible. "Alex, I never thought I'd fall for a girl. I figured maybe I'd explore my curiosity, make out with one or two girls, then WHOOP! Back to the boys. But you... I could care less what gender you are. You're like the piece of my puzzle I never even realized was MISSING. And if I lost you.... if I gave my heart entirely to you and lost you... I don't know if I could recover, Alex. I really don't."

Alex listened to Gwen for a long moment, even as the younger woman looked away from her. She touched the tips of her fingers to Gwen's jawline, tilting her face back towards her, if only so she could give her a tender and loving kiss to the lips. Oh, the stuff with Piper had fucked her over mentally and emotionally for a good while there, but at least she was seemingly starting to heal from it. "Wild horses couldn't drag me away, okay?"

Well... let's be honest: while Wade Wilson will never, EVER, be called a positive influence in anyone's lives, he had definitely helped Alex feel more wanted and useful, and had shown her that she could still trust people. "Dammit... I wish you weren't so damn easy to fall for, woman." Gwen laughed through sniffles, hugging Alex as tightly as she could without hurting her.

Alex hugged her back, burying her chin into the crook of Gwen's neck. "Yeah, ditto," she murmured. So much for her rule about not falling for another straight girl - but then again, the heart wants what it wants, you know?
