Freddie had always really been a go with the flow sort of bloke. Usually it was Cook or Effy or one of his other friends making plans, and he would just sort of find himself going along.
That had changed in Galador. He had Katie with him, thank God. Emily too, once she'd turned up. Yet everything was different. He was different. Or at least he wanted to be. New chances.
So he'd enrolled in Uni. He got a place with Emily. He got himself a job. Didn't stop him from being lonely, though. Particularly as the twins had relationships of their own. So he'd signed up for a blind date.
Rory had come as an unexpected surprise to him. While their conversation was brief, he found himself engaging with her right away. She was different than the sort of girls that he generally found himself interested in, and he liked it.
He was wearing a pair of black jeans, a white tee shirt, and a black vest that hung open. His black hair currently hidden underneath a helmet as he rode his skateboard toward the coffee shop. Normally helmets were not anything he'd concern himself with, especially before a date, but he had promised after all.
He spotted her before she noticed him, which wasn't hard to do, given that her nose was buried in a book. His mouth quirked upward in a half smile as he rolled to a stop, got off the board, and kicked it up into his hand.
He closed the rest of the distance between them on foot, pulling the helmet off as he walked. He ran the fingers of his free hand through his hair, hoping it didn't look too shite, as he approached her. "Just getting to the good bit?" His accented voice called warmly as he came to a stop beside her bench.
