Chase smiled bashfully and shrugged when Erin asked if he had it in mind that they'd go on a second date. He certainly hoped as much. Even though their online and real life interactions had been limited so far. Still. He'd liked what he'd heard from her and only hoped that he made such a good impression.
Chase was comfortable with the moment of silence that spread between them and accepted what Erin told him at face-value. So when she said that she had married young and hadn't dated anyone since, he didn't think to question why that was. He just assumed that things didn't work out and left it at that. When or if she wanted to tell him more, he'd certainly listen. "I had a serious girlfriend once, but it didn't work out." Mostly because she'd died. He'd learned to live with his grief, but much like Erin, decided that any more information wasn't needed on a first date. Maybe once they got to know each other more he'd talk about Gertie. "So... I guess we're in the same boat. Almost."
So... as much as he'd like an excuse to hold her or have her hold him during a scary movie, he decided to suggest: "Maybe we should watch the comedy?"
