Sookie had been surprised by Matthew. She never been in a relationship with a human and this was more than she could ask for in one. She was truly, deeply, madly in love with him. He'd been more than she could have asked for. Not having to worry about her life did make a huge difference.
She'd teased him about the cupids, but it didn't take a cupid for her to fall in love. A part of her had always been in love with him. Her Gran told her she'd prayed for the man that would truly take her heart. She didn't get it then, but she got it now. When she thought of her Gran doing that, it made her cry.
She was very physical with Matthew. She was always touching him. Sometimes it was just her knee touching his when they sat side-by-side. So her getting in his lap shouldn't have been much of a surprise to him.
She was going to tease about being on Santa's lap when those words came out of his mouth.
Dark orbs widened. She began shaking with excitement. As soon as the words were out of his mouth she kissed him long and hard. Then she pulled away but only slightly, so her forehead could touch his.
A million little things began to run through her mind and all in the blink of an eye.
Softly she answered him, "Yes," she whispered, "yes, yes, yes. Oh and did I tell you yes?"
The ring was beautiful, watching him place the ring on her finger she started crying happy tears. She put her head on his chest, to hear his heart beating.
"I knew the first time I saw you, I was just hoping my intuition was right. Bravo for keeping that from me. I always thought I'd know before you asked and yes I've been hoping you'd ask."
She wanted to get the champagne she'd been keeping, but she didn't want to move from her spot.
She held out her hand to get a look at the ring. "It is beautiful," she was still speaking low as if she raised her voice this would all go away.
