Performance: Jeremy Lewis
When he'd first signed up to audtion for this show, Jeremy honestly didn't even expect to make it ONTO the damn show, much less be here, in the finals. So he'd put no real thought into what he'd want to sing if he made it here. However, the last few weeks, as people began to talk more and more about him being one of the favorites, he'd grudgingly started to plan ahead a little.
He'd found himself, multiple times, completely stunned by the judges' opinions of his performances. The ones he was less sure about? They ended up loving. The ones he thought were going to go over like gangbusters? Ended up getting more or less shit on.
So for the finals, he decided to stop worrying.
In his mind, it was going to take a small miracle to beat Penny anyway. She was a virtuoso, who exuded star quality from every pore. So... if he was going into this as the underdog anyway, why not just have fun with it?
He thought back to his youth, in London, following Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden around, with his best friend Delilah. He missed her... and also knew if she were here to see this, she'd go NUTS if he tried to sing Maiden. It wasn't going to be easy, though. He'd obviously sing one of their songs done with Bruce Dickinson at the helm, but Bruce's voice was also extremely unique and hard to match. For god's sake, he was called The Human Air Raid Siren for a reason!
So the mission was to find a Maiden song that he could sing in his own style without ruining it... AND that fit his general outlook about being here in the finals. And then? It hit him. The perfect song choice. If he was going out? He was going out on his own terms. One last ride.
Shiklah had told him several times that before this was over, she wanted to see him both without his guitar, AND at full confidence. And dammit... tonight? She was finally going to see it.
As the drums and guitar kicked in to signal the beginning of the song, Jeremy came running out onto the stage, in black leather pants, black boots, and a white 'Piece of Mind' tee, this time with no guitar, and only holding the microphone and it's stand.
"I'm stranded in space, I'm lost without trace I haven't a chance of getting away Too close to the sun, I surely will burn Like Icarus before me or so legend goes I think of my life, reliving the past There's nothing but wait 'til my time comes I've had a good life, I'd do it again Maybe I'll come back some time, my friends"
