PERFORMANCE: PENNY ST CLAIRE (2 of 2)
“You were better, deeper. I was under your spell.” At that, she gave the camera a small wink. “Like a deadly fever, yeah, babe. On the highway to hell. I only want to die alive. Never by the hands of a broken heart. I don't wanna hear you lie tonight. Now that I've become who I really am. HEY!” She let out the excited yell and flashed her brightest smile.
“This is the part when I say I don't want ya. I'm stronger than I've been before. This is the part when I break free. 'Cause I can't resist it no more.”
During the final few words of the last verse, the dancers had formed a half circle around Penny and dropped to the floor. As she launched herself into the up tempo chorus once more, they broke into some truly impressive choreography. Penny, for her part, had much simpler choreography, but belted out the words with every ounce of joy in her heart.
“This is the part when I say I don't want ya I'm stronger than I've been before This is the part when I break free 'Cause I can't resist it no more”
The video screen behind them faded from the shot of Galador to a beautiful shot of space with twinkling stars everywhere. Blue and purple lights swept across the stage, casting Penny in a magical looking glow, as she sang a few extra nonsensical notes. She walked toward the back of the stage and took a deep breath before turning around again.
“Thought of your body, I came alive. It was lethal, it was fatal. In my dreams it felt so right. But I woke up every tiiiiiiiiiiime.”
With the final word, she threw her head back and sang to the very back of the auditorium, showing off the sheer power behind her voice. “Come on!” She urged the audience to their feet, and threw her arms in the air. She jumped and danced as if surrounded by a few hundred of her very best friends in the world.
“Oh baby! This is the part when I say I don't want ya. I'm stronger than I've been before. This is the part when I break free. 'Cause I can't resist it no more. This is the part when I say I don't want ya. I'm stronger than I've been before. This is the part when I break free. 'Cause I can't resist it no more.
Hey!” She punctuated the song with that final word, before she turned and strutted toward the back of the stage again. As the dancers around her hit their final marks around her, Penny struck a pose, so she was silhouetted against the video screen, and then the stage went dark.
