Getting the Inside Scoop
Who: Stephanie and Samantha
Where: Mar-Vell Park
When: Same day as her arrival (Here)
Rating: Fairly Low
Status: Complete
One minute, Samantha was getting ready to take down a new threat to the world (almost felt like there was a new one every week now), and the next, she was in some random park with a Soviet dog talking to her and giving her a pamphlet and telling her that she was in space. She was NOT amused. However, when she was able to get in touch with Stephanie, she felt a lot more at ease. At least she wasn't in this place alone. So, for now, wings folded up in their case, she sat on a bench, wondering just how in the hell they put a park on a space ship. This was freaking unreal.
Finally, Stephanie arrived at the park, not even having bothered to change clothing. Still in her gray Army sweats and tight t-shirt, she ran over to her friend and hugged her tightly. "Oh Sammie... I've never been more glad to see you than I am right now..."
Sam definitely did a double take at Steph's appearance before she had the chance to hug her back. "Damn girl, you know I love you, but you look rough right now," she said, hugging her tightly back.
"Sammie... the last few days have been so hard on me, you don't even KNOW." She whimpered, just clinging to the woman. "I don't even know where to start..." She knew her friend would easily accept anything she told her, but that didn't help with where the HELL to even begin!
"Then start from the beginning and go from there," Sam said, holding onto her. She had no idea what was going on, but she knew it had to be rough for Steph to be falling apart like this.
"Daisy and Wanda were both here. I..." She paused, trying to think of how to word it, since the whole thing had happened so quickly, "Wanda and I... we were together." She said, eyes brimming with tears. "I was happy, Sammie. For the first time in my life, I had someone... and now she's gone."
Well, her getting together with Wanda was something that Samantha had hoped would be a long time coming (she was quite observant), but she certainly hadn't wanted for Wanda to get snatched away so quickly like that! "Oh honey, I'm so sorry," she said, hugging her even tighter. "From what that weird dog's pamphlet said, she might come back, right?"
"If she did... she'd likely have forgotten anything that happened while she was here before. What we had, what we..." she blushed, almost saying 'what we did', but then shut up, "It would be just like it was in our world."
"Well...shit." That was messed up. "There's no chance of her remembering this place if she came back?" Sam could certainly guess about 'what they did,' thank you! Steph likely wouldn't be half as torn up without that.
"Hardly anyone has come back though..." Stephanie sighed, at least slightly relieved by seeing one of her closest friends here. "Oh, and everyone here looks at me like some kind of weird freak of nature, because apparently, the versions of me most of these people know is a MAN."
Sammie pulled back in confusion and just stared at her for a moment. "That is just WEIRD," she pointed out. "I cannot picture you as a man at ALL." She had just always been Stephanie Rogers to her. "I'm not even into girls, but you're far too pretty to be a dude."
"Yeah, well... that was pretty much what I said when I got here and met SAM Wilson. Nice looking guy, I must say..." Ok, so she had to tease a little. Just to see the look on Sammie's face. "Maybe you can go flying together..."
Sammie scrunched up her nose and grimaced. "Is he still here? I need to go yell at him to stop twinning me." This was beyond weird and straight into freaky-deaky.
"Yeah, he's here. Oh, also? There's a version of Tony here. And he's barely hit on me. That, to me, is even stranger than you as a man." She laughed, feeling, for now at least, a little more light-hearted, having her friend here to talk to.
"Are you sure we haven't accidentally ended up in a version of the universe that is populated with pod people?" Sam asked her. "That man flirts like breathing. Is he gay here or something?" She'd believe anything at this point.
"No, not gay... if we're being honest, I think he's just still freaked out over me being a woman." Stephanie smirked, rolling her eyes. "It's like if he hits on me, he's gonna feel like he's hitting on the male version or something. Which is fine with me because a) IT'S TONY, EWW, and b) He's already got enough relationship drama here without adding someone else into the mix."
"So still weird to think of you as a guy," Sammie said, grinning. "But ooh, relationship drama? Tell me more. Let me live vicariously through others that have relationships."
"Well, this version of him is with with Pepper as well, first of all. Second, I get the distinct impression that Tony and one of the Avengers from THIS world, a woman named Carol Danvers, started to be really... interested in each other. And then?" Stephanie laughed, not usually the type for gossip, but damn, she missed her pal, ok? "Wouldn't you know it... his Pepper turns up here. Rocket's been darn-near GIDDY because it gives him more to harass Tony about." She paused then, scrunching her face. "Rocket's, um... a raccoon. That talks. And loves to blow things up. And is on Tony's level when it comes to tech."
"Wow...Tony Stark has relationship issues...never would have guessed." Yeah, at home, it was just him and Pepper. Other than playful flirting, he never really LOOKED at another woman. Sammie couldn't help but wonder what went down here. "I'd harass him, too. And a raccoon you say? Now I'm POSITIVE I've heard everything."
"Oh yeah? Then maybe now isn't the time to mention that his best friend is a walking, talking tree. Who honestly might be the kindest, sweetest guy in history." Stephanie giggled, shaking her head. She still couldn't get over how odd things were up here... but couldn't help but ADORE Groot.
Sammie just blinked at that. "I know you're for real, but are you SERIOUS? I take it back. NOW I've heard everything." Well, she'd already been met by a cosmonaut talking dog. Why wouldn't their be a talking tree?"
"If it helps? That was pretty much my reaction too." Stephanie said with a little snort of a laugh. "Really though. You're gonna love Groot. He's as lovable as a puppy, I swear." Stephanie felt like her world was falling apart around her, all while she was powerless to do a single thing about it. But at least her friend was here now. She felt like... like things would at least be bearable now.
