Some Worry
Who: Jodi and Caitlyn's alter, June
Where: Their home
When: Immediately following this
What: Discussing home life
Rating: Low
Status: Complete
After signing off of the network after her brief conversation with Jodi, Caitlyn's alter, June, continued with what she'd been doing. Painting the walls of the arts and crafts room in their home. She couldn't decide on cotton candy pink or lime green and then decided "why not both!". She was barefoot, dressed in overalls with a white tee underneath (no bra). She was pale, blonde, perhaps a little older than Caitlyn in appearance, but not by much. She was also rocking out to Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" while she was at it:
"I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I riiiiiide
I'm wanted (waaaaannnnnted) dead or alive"
Well, this was certainly something Jodi hadn't experienced in a good long while: her wife having a bad enough panic attack over something that one of her "alters" appeared. While she adored June, she also knew that she never showed up for good reasons. So when she walked in, she took a deep breath and tried not to sound TOO upset to see the woman. "June? Hey, sweetie.... wanna tell me what happened?"
"You know, you could at least sound a little happy to see me," June said with a playful pout. She hopped on over to Jodi and took her hands, swinging them. "Loosen up, okay?"
"I'm sorry, Junebug..." Jodi said with a guilty little pout. "I just worry about Caiti... I mean, let's be totes honest here: As much as I adore you, technically? If you're here, that means something bad happened."
June gave Jodi an eskimo kiss. "You know I only ever show up when she's worried about family stuff, right? She always worries about you and Dany, but it's usually mundane stuff like worrying about Dany being out of the house for the first time, or if you'll ever get tired of her, us and cheat." She shrugged and went over to her paint rollers, starting to work on one of the walls. "You know, as good as you look standin' there you could always come help me with this. The work'll be finished in half the time and I fully intend to have this room done before bed."
"...she still worries that I'd ever cheat on her?" Jodi asked with a whimper, feeling her heart break a little. She knew Caitlyn had a lot of insecurities, and it killed her to know that Caiti would ever think she could want ANYONE as much as she still wanted the redhead to this very day. "Alright, alright, you pushy bitch." Jodi grumbled playfully, walking over to June. "Alright. So... I'm helping. Now tell me what's going on with Caiti. Then after that, we can catch up on everything that's been going on here."
June hummed to the music as she painted. "Well, she'll always worry about that. She knows that you have crushes sometimes." She shrugged.
"Anyway." She grabbed a spare paint roller and handed it to Jodi. "You've got a job. Dany's out of the house and dating (and that's a whole other issue, by the by), so... you know. We might be on a different planet, but it feels like her world is getting smaller and smaller. She doesn't function well when she doesn't have someone to take care of or something to do. Although I don't need to tell you that." She gave Jodi a wry smile.
Jodi felt like facepalming. She'd done it again, hadn't she? "Annnnnnnd here I've been, trying to take care of HER." She grumbled. She had a tendency to almost 'mother' Caitlyn at times, which she never did intentionally. "Dammit. As for Dany... yeah, I'm a little freaked out about that too. Especially the fact that she's working for the fictional character I named her after..."
"Mmm. You ever think about the fact that she's about the same age you were when we met?" She traced her fingertips along Jodi's arm. "And sexually active?"
"I do, actually. It's why I'm not... crowding her about it. I'd be a hypocrite." Jodi said, smiling sweetly at the thought of her daughter. "It's why I'm trying to get to know Betsy. I want to be a part of her life, if she's going to be such a big part of Dany's."
June smiled softly, although there was something bittersweet about it. "You're a good egg, Jodi Hanson. Did I ever tell you that?"
"Well? A lot of people shaped who I am. Including you. All of you." Jodi told her, smiling. "I love you as Caiti, I love you as June, I even love the rest of those goofs inside you."
June stopped what she was doing and put her paint roller aside so she could look at Jodi. Really look at her. "Then maybe you should make a point to say that more often? To all of us." She smooched Jodi's cheek. "I love you, Button. But you get lost in your work too easily. She never complains, but... she misses you when you're gone. We all do."
"Oh god..." Jodi said, eyes widening as a hand instinctively moved to cover her mouth. "Do I.... Do I really neglect you like that?" She knew she was a workaholic, but it had never even OCCURRED to her that she might have been a bit absent in terms of affection.
June nodded subtly. She'd likely never mention the fact that Caitlyn had almost cheated on Jodi back home, due to how lonely she'd been. "When you're here you're present. In the moment. It's just... when you work you're not here very often."
"Then that needs to change." Jodi said, her tone resolute. "Immediately. This is a new world. A new beginning. I won't make the same mistakes again." She would talk to Tea, let her know that she needed to either be able to do part of her job at home, or she'd have to look elsewhere. "I'll say this to every one of you if I have to... but I'm so, SO sorry. And I love you, ALL of you, with every single fiber of my being."
June nodded and gave Jodi a weak smile. She was the strongest alter in terms of dealing with emotions and rationality, but there was no hiding the tears in her eyes. "I know. We know," she murmured, reaching for Jodi's hand. "Let's forget that for now. We can have a pizza and paint party and in the morning things will be different."
"If you all will let them be different... I swear on my life they will be." Jodi murmured, feeling gutted that she'd ever let Caitlyn feel like that. Jodi took June's hand, and actually leaned in to give her a loving, devoted kiss. "I mean it. Nothing in the world means more to me than you and Dany."
June sucked her bottom lip into her mouth after that kiss and gazed at Jodi. "I love you more than the number of stars that are in the sky, Jodi Hanson."
"Then be ready to love me more." Jodi said, the kind of determination and fire in her eyes that she hadn't had since she was a teenager obsessed with having people respect her. "Because every part of you, every piece of my girl that's in there, is going to be reminded, every day, of how much you mean to me. You're my forever."
Admittedly it was the fire in Jodi's eyes that had originally attracted Caitlyn to Jodi. She loved Jodi's dedication and felt selfish for wanting more of her time, which was part of the reason she'd bottled up her feelings for so long. June leaned in for another tender kiss. "Forever and ever," she agreed.
"In fact... I have some ideas. About maybe having a way for Caiti and I to work together. So that we can be a team in every way..." Yep. The legendarily random mind of Jodi Hanson was activated again, and she was already coming up with scenarios. She was dead serious about all of this. She would never be neglectful again, not even accidentally.
June chuckled. "And what exactly is your devious mind thinking?" She asked as she brushed hair behind Jodi's ear and gazed into her eyes.
"There's a lot of kids that come through here... and it's basically either 'find them a guardian fast, or they're in an orphanage', to simplify it. But maybe if there was a more attractive place for the kids to STAY, they wouldn't feel like they were getting forced into having guardians." Jodi mused, that brain of hers in overdrive right now. "Something like the Portman Institute, but ALSO for kids with nowhere else to go... I bet Talia would help us with it, and me and Caiti could easily run it..."
June's eyebrows shot up. She knew that Jodi could be quick with ideas sometimes, but this one seemed to come out of left field. "So... you want us to run a boarding house, basically," she asked, trying to wrap her head around it. "For children."
"For children AND for anyone who needs help. Whether controlling powers, overcoming an injury or handicap, etc." Jodi said, the details already coming together in her head. "I mean I wouldn't make any moves without talking to Caiti first... but I can't think of any cons to this."
"Maybe think about it for more than a few minutes," June replied with an amused smile. Caitlyn had been thinking about helping out the communities in her own way, whether volunteering at the new LBGT center or helping to cultivate the land over in Westeros, so she wasn't without things to fill her time with. "What about your job?"
"Well, obviously I'd have to help Tea find someone to replace me, then respectfully step down." Jodi said, giving a sheepish grin. "Don't worry... this is all just.... thoughts. Ideas. Stuff for me and Caiti to throw around. As long as we come up with something that lets us be together more... that's all that matters."
"Well, I hope you figure something that works out for the both of you," June murmured as she grabbed Jodi's hands and swung them between their bodies. "Just... set limits for yourself. Overwork isn't exactly good for you either." She gave her another eskimo kiss, always quick with affection when it came to Jodi.
With a little smile, Jodi tilted her head just then, touching her lips to June's. Hey, it's not like they were fucking, and this WAS still her wife. "I love you, so very much."
June playfully swung Jodi's hands behind her back so she could deepen the kiss unimpeded. She could be an opportunistic bitch. She nipped at Jodi's bottom lip when she broke the kiss, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "I love you more, Button."
