PERFORMANCE - MARY JANE WATSON
Mary Jane like others tonight was sitting on a stool with a guitar, she had a mic placed level with her mouth. In black leather plants, black tank top, her lips curved up into a smirk. She took the judges words and figured she would show them what a rock star truly was. There was no package for her tonight, so she started strumming her guitar, sliding over the strings, and tapping on the guitar in between strumming to give her some percussion.
"My lover's got humour He's the giggle at a funeral Knows everybody's disapproval I should've worshipped her sooner If the Heavens ever did speak He is the last true mouthpiece Every Sunday's getting more bleak A fresh poison each week "We were born sick", you heard them say it My church offers no absolutes She tells me 'worship in the bedroom' The only heaven I'll be sent to Is when I'm alone with you We were born sick, but I love it Command me to be well"
Mary Jane closed her eyes as she kept singing,
"Amen,
Amen, "
Her eyes flew open,
"AMEN
amen"
Looking over the crowd, she kept belting out,
"Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life"
Her lips turned up into a smirk as she looked over at the judges.
"If I'm a pagan of the good times My lover's the sunlight To keep the Goddess on my side He demands a sacrifice To drain the whole sea Get something shiny"
Pulling into herself a little, she became just a woman singing for fun
"yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeaaaah.
Something meaty for the main course That's a fine looking high horse What you got in the stable? We've a lot of starving faithful That looks plenty That looks tasty This is hungry work"
She looked into the camera,
"Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life"
Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life"
Still playing she talked this part,
"No masters or kings when the ritual begins There is no sweeter innocence than our gentle sin In the madness and soil of that sad earthly scene Only then I am human Only then I am clean"
Then started to sing again
"Amen,
Amen,
Amen
Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life."
Her eyes wandered over the crowd singing to them.
"Take me to church I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife Offer me that deathless death Good God, let me give you my life"
Mary Jan played for a moment, still keeping time by hitting the guitar and then stop. She moved to stand, bowed her head thanks and then waited for what the judges have to say this week.
