Making a Friend (With Benefits)
Who: Alex and Gwen
Where: Java the Hutt
When: Backdated to July 29th
What: Making a friend and... something else
Rating: Medium to High - There's some sexual content near the end there
Since she fully intended to stay out all night, Alex decided to go to Java the Hutt to get a caffeine fix, dressed spectacularly in black with her make up done immaculately. The brunette made her way over to the counter and ordered the strongest coffee that she could think of, making sure to flash the barista a cheeky little wink while she was at it.
Gwen had (mostly) given up on getting Peter to pick her over Jean, and was starting to get over her initial bitterness about how fate had played this one out for her. While she didn't feel quite as needed, hero-wise, around here, given that roughly 80% of the people up here had powers of some sort, she was beginning to adjust to being here nonetheless. Sitting alone at a small table near the front counter, sipping carefully at a hot cup of coffee, she looked fantastic, in a short white dress that clung perfectly to her.
"Jesus, don't I feel under-dressed," Alex muttered when she spotted Gwen, taking a seat near the younger woman. She blew at her drink to cool it down before sipping at it.
Gwen couldn't help but hear Alex, and gave a flattered little grin (more to herself, really), before turning to face the woman. Definitely a newcomer,as Gwen knew she'd never seen her. "This place isn't bad. Certainly not the best coffee you'll ever have, but all things considered? Can't really complain, you know?"
"Well, considering where I was before this is definitely a step up," Alex agreed dryly, letting her eyes flick over Gwen briefly. Her first thought was 'straight', but that didn't mean that she couldn't flirt and make a friend anyway. "I'm Alex."
More like 'curious', but that's neither here nor there. "Do I even want to know?" Gwen asked with a husky little chuckle, before offering a dainty, pale hand. "And I'm Gwen. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too," Alex replied, gripping her hand and giving it a shake. "So, are you a native or a recent transplant?" She couldn't help it but ask.
"Transplant." Gwen said with a nod, grinning. "And I like that. Has a nicer ring to it than 'refugee'." She crossed her legs, taking a sip of her coffee. God she wished she was back in NYC, in her world, having the GOOD stuff. "Not really recent though... I've been here quite a few months now. Seeing people that were dead in my world, people from other realities that have the same powers as me.... it's trippy."
Alex nodded. "And here I am, coming here with a woman that I just wanna shank," she muttered, more to herself than anything. "Still... yeah, that does sound pretty wild."
"Somehow, you do not look like the kind of person who'd shank someone." Gwen giggled, obviously having no idea what Alex's history was like. "But then, I guess I don't look like the kind of person who'd be able to climb up walls and swing through the sky, huh?"
Alex paused and assessed the younger woman, then smiled. "Oh, I dunno. You look like the kinda girl that could do just about anything if she put her mind to it."
"Now... THAT is a good answer. I bet you're the type who can always find the right words to get whatever you want, hm?" Gwen asked, admiring that trait in a person. God knew she didn't have it. She tended to talk too much, to let her mouth get her into trouble.
"Oh, I wouldn't go that far," Alex replied in that same dry tone. "So if youve been here a while... you wouldn't happen to know a good place to drink, would you?"
"Well, I just turned nineteen, so... I haven't really bothered with that stuff yet." She gave a cutely disgusted scowl them, just now realizing... "Oh my god... I actually spent my birthday up here. And pretty much forgot all about it. That's what happens when you know NOBODY somewhere."
Well, she was younger than Alex would have guessed. Still, she couldn't help it but laugh at that scowl. "I think it's forgivable considering where you are," she pointed out.
"Still! How messed up is it when you forget your own birthday?" The blonde admitted, shaking her head. "Anyway, enough of me complaining... tell me a little bit about yourself?"
"Well, a belated happy birthday to you," Alex said, raising her drink in a toast. "And really, you're probably going to hear it from someone else anyway, but I was a prisoner before I came here. Obviously I'm not a murderer or anything, considering I'm having a coffee with you."
"Oh, I'm not worried about it. If you meant me any harm. my spider-sense would be pinging like crazy right now." Gwen told her with a slight grin. "Besides, if I were back home, I'd be in constant danger of being in jail myself. With my own father wanting to arrest me. So really, who'm I to judge?"
"Okay, now THERE'S a story that you have to tell me," Alex said with a surprised laugh. This was the kind of girl that Alex had pegged wouldn't have done anything illegal, so consider her curious.
"Oh, it's just awesome." Gwen told her with sarcasm practically DRIPPING from her voice. "Let's see: I became a costumed crimefighter, because what's the use of having powers if you can't use them to help others? My boyfriend didn't want me out there on my own and tried to give himself powers. In doing so he turned into a big vicious lizard." Before Alex could say anything, Gwen raised an eyebrow. "And before you say anything, who could even make this stuff up? Anyway. He ended up dying in my arms. And now the cops, including my own dad, think I killed him. Yay Gwen!"
"Yay," Alex agreed, quirking an eyebrow as she took all of that in. "Jesus, if I didn't need a drink before..." She chuckled huskily. "How are you coping with ... well, everything?" Had anyone even asked?
"Alright, I guess. As well as I can, anyway. I mean, I was in a band, I had friends, I had a boyfriend.... then WHAM, it's all gone, you know? All things considered, being here really isn't all that bad." She admitted, giving a slight, noncommittal shrug. "I mean... I get lonely a lot as of late. REALLY lonely. But aside from that? Being here isn't bad."
"Yeah, I understand loneliness. I mean, I was surrounded by women in prison, but... I felt totally alone." Alex chewed on her lip for a moment, but tried to move on. "I mean, Wade's been really great, he's helped me acclimate here and I've met people who I've actually enjoyed talking to. Plus, it's totally fun to fluster that doctor. I've never seen someone turn so many shades of red before." She chuckled.
"Oh no... Lauren?" Gwen giggled, shaking her head. "You're evil. Lauren's an absolute sweetheart. Wade, though... yeah, I gotta admit, he's nuttier than a fruitcake, but the guy knows how to make things fun around here. Last Christmas? He actually got Kindles for every person stuck here. Anyway... what did you to to fight the loneliness where you were from? Because I never thought I'd get to a point where I was literally CRAVING a physical connection with someone. And to make it worse, a version of my boyfriend, with the same powers as ME, is running around here dating everyone's favorite little redhead, Jean Grey."
"Dude, you have to try it sometime! It's hilarious." Alex laughed. "And yeah, he's a complete basketcase, but for the most part he's a decent person." Alex was very protective of Wade, now that she thought about it. Alex wrinkled her nose at the mention of Peter and Jean. "That sucks. As for how I deal? Meaningless sex goes a long way to help with it."
"I would probably at least TRY that at this point, if it wasn't for the fact that every halfway interesting person here is either with someone or not really into me." Gwen laughed, trying to hide the slight bitterness she felt saying that. She was typically a very positive, upbeat person... but watching the boy she loved swinging around with another woman, no matter the actual reasoning, was taking it's toll.
Alex smirked. "Well, I guess you just have to find the right person to spend your time with. Personally, I'm... I'm done with relationships or dating for now. My ex just killed any desire to be with anyone else like that."
"That sucks... you're a cool chick. Whoever messed you over must've been a real piece of work." Gwen said, realizing that she was really taking a liking to this woman. There was something refreshingly honest and open about her.
"Oh, don't even get me started," Alex joked, shaking her head. The less said about Piper, the better, though. "Still, harmless fun, I'm your girl."
"Not even kidding, I'm probably gonna take you up on that." Gwen laughed, that brilliant smile finally coming through. "God knows I could use some harmless fun in my life right now."
"That's the spirit!" Alex chuckled huskily, shaking her head. Ah well, what was wrong with some harmless fun anyway?
"So what would you recommend?" Gwen laughed, feeling ridiculous asking. "Honestly, other than playing with my band, I barely remember what fun IS."
"Well, if you used to be a singer you could always try karaoke at one of the bars," Alex pointed out, deciding not to say the obvious thing that came to mind.
"Sorry, I was just a lowwwwwly drummer." Gwen said with mock shame, holding the back of her hand to her forehead in a whoa-is-me fashion. "There's nobody here that I hate enough to make then hear me sing..."
Alex chuckled. "What about roller blading then? Or bowling? I'm bound and determined to think of something that you can do."
"You're sweet..." Gwen said, nibbling her lip a little as she did, kind of digging Alex's demeanor and voice. "Bowling could be fun..."
"See, there you go. Bowling it is." Alex replied, glad she'd figured out something fun for the girl to do.
"You'll be coming with, I hope..." Gwen told her, realizing that this was the first time in months that she actually was having fun hanging out with someone. "Trust me, you can't possibly be a worse bowler than me, so.. no reason not to go."
"If you're really that bad then we can do bumper bowling... you know. Like little kids do," Alex teased with a cheeky grin.
"Since you seem to have alllll the answers, lady...." Gwen said with a smirk, folding her hands on the table. "How's about help me find a date in this place? My love life has been more dull than the last season of "Dexter"."
"I'm not cupid!" Although the thought of Alex with a little bow and arrow was kind of adorable. "And have you actually gone out? I mean, looking like you do it wouldn't be hard for you to find a date," she pointed out.
"You'd think, right? But no... not one person who I've had one iota of interest in has felt the same." She sighed, letting a little of her newfound depression show. "I'm starting to think Ana was onto something when she asked who would even WANT to date me."
"Whoa. That's a bit harsh." Alex frowned. "Why would she say something like that?" She asked as she adjusted her glasses on the bridge of her nose.
"She's got every right. I was a total bitch without even trying." Gwen sighed, shaking her head. "I kind of... forget the whole thing about fiction vs reality. And I made some pretty shitty remarks about, well, the woman who wrote her story. And I think it really hurt her."
"Ah. Well, I guess I can understand that. I mean, when Wade said that I was a fictional character I punched him in the arm." She could laugh about it now, but it sure did piss her off at the time!
"I don't think she got that I wasn't insulting HER, just the shoddy writing of the woman who wrote her book." Gwen grumbled, shaking her head. "Ana was one of the few good friends I'd made here."
"Well, I'm sure that if you explain it and sincerely apologize, then maybe you can still mend that bridge. As for friends, hey, you've got me now, so that has to count for something." Alex could actually be a nice person sometimes, okay? It was just... she didn't show that side to many people.
"...you've totally had STRAIGHT women falling at your feet before, haven't you." Gwen laughed, resting her chin on her hand. "Your charm is like a lethal weapon."
Alex pretended to think about that for a minute as she adjusted her glasses, and couldn't help it but grin. "I have charmed the pants off of many women. Although I try to make it a rule not to date the straight ones." Especially after all of the drama that Piper had put her through. That woman had broken her heart too many times now.
"I kinda hate how hot I think you are." Gwen admitted with a blush, rolling her eyes. "Don't get me wrong: totally loving making a new friend here. Just hating the fact that you're so damn attractive."
"Oh yeah, I can see how making a new hot friend would be such a downer," Alex replied dryly. It was nice to see that after the initial shock of her arrival, that her sense of humor remained intact!
"If we're being honest, I've never done anything with another woman... but I really do like to fantasize about it sometime." Gwen admitted, blushing furiously. "I think I just have a type when it comes to finding women attractive."
Alex nodded. "Well, finding someone attractive and wanting to fuck them are two different things." She almost censored herself there. Almost. "I mean, ugh, I understand bisexuality. I understand not wanting to limit your options, and I'll admit to finding Robert Downey Jr. attractive. Would I fuck him? No. Because while someone can be aesthetically appealing doesn't mean that you're sexually attracted to them." She facepalmed. "I swear that made more sense in my head."
"I dunno if I'm 'bi'... but I'm definitely curious. Lame as that sounds." Gwen admitted with a shy glance downward. "I mean, one of the girls from Sailor Moon popped up her and I will NOT lie and say I didn't take quite a few intense showers thinking about her..."
"Jesus," Alex couldn't help it but laugh. Hard. "You can't say things like that to me and expect me not to picture it. That's, like, a new rule. Seriously."
"Hey, picture it all you want! Not like I won't be doing the same." Gwen laughed at herself there, shaking her head. "Told you... I have a type."
"I'm starting to see that." It was oddly refreshing to talk so openly with someone like this. Forgive Alex for enjoying herself. "Still, good for you. I know that a lot of kids these days have trouble admitting it." OH, she couldn't help it but smirk there, the teasing bitch.
"Kid? Come ON now, I just turned 19." Yeah, Gwen, you're old as dirt now.
"Yeah, you're still a kid," Alex couldn't help it but smirk at the indignity of Gwen's tone.
"Oh come ON!" Gwen laughed, reaching over to give Alex a playful little punch to the shoulder. "First, it's not like I'm 13 or something, and SECOND, it's not even like you can possibly be THAT much older than me! I'm guessing like... 31 or 32 at the most. It's not like you're old enough to be my mom or something..."
"I'm old enough to say that you're a little bitch, okay?" Alex couldn't help it but laugh. Gwen was too adorable for words.
"You know? I take back what I said about you being nice. You SUCK." Gwen said, obviously kidding by the tone of her voice. "Sad part is, this is the most social I've been in a while. How messed up is it when you feel more comfortable in a mask and a skintight costume than you do trying to talk to people?"
Alex calmed down enough to think about that. "It's... okay, it's not all that messed up. Obviously people are dicks. Me included."
"Are you kidding?" Gwen asked her, laughing out loud. "You? Girl, this is the most fun I've had hanging out with anyone in MONTHS. You're awesome. And to be entirely honest? Not all that hard on the ol' eyes, either."
"Don't I know it," Alex laughed, buffing her knuckles against her chest. Honestly, this was the first time that she'd felt sane since she'd come here. Wasn't that just weird?
"I can't believe YOU came from prison. Just being honest." Gwen said, shaking her head. "Most women I know who've been in prison look more like truck drivers. You look like someone out of those softcore Cinemax "women behind bars" movies or something."
"Oh, dude." Alex laughed. "I wish prison was more like that. I kid you not, there was a woman named Crazy Eyes. You did not want to mess with her."
Gwen just looked at her for a long moment, as if unsure whether she wanted to laugh, ask more questions, or anything else. "I.... you are easily the single most interesting person I've ever MET."
"Says the woman that's mentioned outfits on more than one occasion," Alex replied dryly, quirking an eyebrow at Gwen as if to challenge her who was more interesting of the two of them.
"Oh, the one I mentioned isn't some hot sexy number... it's a spandex bodysuit with a mask and a hood. Not exactly the kind of thing that'll have Maxim calling me for a photoshoot..." Gwen said with a derivative little snort.
"Spandex. Bodysuit." Alex repeated, still quirking that damn eyebrow at Gwen. This was all too hilarious though. She couldn't remember the last time she'd had so much fun with someone (apart from Deadpool, of course!).
"Yeah. See?" Gwen asked, holding up her communicator to show a selfie she'd taken in costume. "No big, you know?"
"Do you want me to molest you? Because as a woman who's just been a prison with very few prospects, showing me things like that... there's only so much I can take." Was she kidding? Probably not.
"The saddest part here? I'm entirely lonely enough to answer 'yes' to that question and not even bat an eyelash." Gwen laughed, being entirely serious. Hey, she'd always been a little curious. Plus she was lonely. Plus Alex was fucking HOT.
Damn right she was! Alex licked her bottom lip as she thought about it. She had no desire to date a straight girl ever again... but that didn't necessarily mean that she couldn't fool around with one, right? "Then, how about we forget the bowling and I take you back to my place?"
"Are you serious?" Gwen barked out with a laugh, not actually expecting this to go further than flirting. "I mean... I'm not gonna lie... I am ALL for trying new things, and this could be a LOT of fun... I just don't want to lead anyone on, our make you think this would be something it's not. I like you, and I think you're sexy as HELL. But if we do this... All it'll ever be is two friends having some fun."
Alex looked to the heavens and laughed. "The first straight girl who hasn't bullshit me! Hallelujah!" Okay, that was probably a bit too enthusiastic, but let a girl have her fun!
"Just don't dare laugh at me if I'm bad at this, ok?" Gwen chuckled, standing up. "I have literally been with ONE PERSON."
"Sweetheart," Alex started to say as she stood up. She hooked an arm around Gwen's waist. "...by the time I'm done with you, you're not even gonna remember your name."
"Ok, suddenly?" Gwen laughed with a blush. "We cannot get back to your place soon ENOUGH."
"I'm guessing you've got a roommate that you'd rather not keep up all night with your shrieks of esctasy," Alex said in that same dry tone of hers as she led Gwen out of the coffee shop. Knowing her luck Wade would have a few comments to make, but she could deal with him later.
Within minutes, the two were fumbling to get into the huge apartment Wade had gotten for her, Gwen giggling as she already played teasingly at the hem of Alex's shirt. "Get us in there already... You got me ready to GO here..."
The asshole in Alex couldn't help it but think that Gwen really WAS starved for attention, but she wisely didn't say that as they bumbled their way into her apartment. "Kids these days. No fuckin' patience," she said dryly, closing the front door once they were inside and pressing Gwen up against it, kissing her heatedly.
Asshole or not, she was absolutely correct. Gwen had been starved for attention for MONTHS, and was a great big ball of clinginess right now. One long leg was brought up to quickly curl around Alex's waist, causing her skirt to ride up a little. She'd never kissed a girl before, and was pleased to find out it was as nice as she'd imagined. Alex's lips felt like heaven against her own, and her body quivered with anticipation.
Alex purred against Gwen's lips and hooked her hand under her thigh. To her this felt like making up for lost time after being hung up on Piper for so long. She moved her lips to Gwen's neck, tracing the tip of her tongue over her skin, then sucked some of the tender flesh into her mouth, wanting to leave a mark.
Part of Gwen still couldn't believe she was doing this. Or that she was about to do what it sure as hell SEEMED like she was about to do. But she'd been curious for a while now... and damn did she find this woman attractive. And hell, at least this was someone who clearly knew what they were doing! She felt her hips grinding against Alex's as she let a loud moan escape when the attention was lavished on her neck, groaning as she imagined what ELSE that tongue was capable of.
Alex quirked an eyebrow when she heard that moan, but rather than say something snarky or cruel she continued what she was doing, sliding a hand under Gwen's dress to tease her fingers along the pantyline.
Gwen gave a little grin, using her superhuman flexibility to slowly lift her leg even higher, giving Alex much more of her to explore. She sighed happily when those fingers began to play at her pantyline, just DESPERATELY wanting the release she knew would eventually follow.
Alex chuckled, sliding her fingers over the crotch of Gwen's panties just once to tease her before retrieving her hand and reintroducing Gwen's foot to the ground. If only so she could grab her hand and march them over to her bedroom. "Bedroom's this way."
Gwen simply nodded, far too turned on and overwhelmed by everything to be much of a conversationalist right now. She let out a nervous chuckle as they got to the bedroom, her mind filled with various versions of 'holy shit, I'm really about to do this'. What a person for it to happen with though... Alex just oozed sex appeal in every possible way.
