Just as she was getting fully used to the idea that Presto was never going to go for anything much more than friends, he asked her out. It was almost out of the blue, but she wasn't about to argue about it. Plus, her boss was cool with it and more than willing to give her any time off that she wanted.
She wouldn't admit to it, but Wichita hadn't really ever been on a date before. She was old enough before her world went to shit, but she was already running cons by that time, just to survive. She told her sister that if she didn't want to be alone (she wasn't sure if Little Rock had actually made any friends yet), that she could always go to The End Zone and hang out with Rachelle.
As she waited for Presto, she slipped into a little black dress and did her makeup. She didn't want to look fancy, or anything like that, but it was hard enough to get her out of her jeans, just to look proper for a date. Possibly integrating color into her wardrobe was next. When she heard the knock, she looked herself over and grabbed her purse before slipping on her shoes and walked to the door, opening it as she took a deep breath and let it out.
