They Both Have Complicated Birth Circumstances
Who: Victor and Dawn
Where: Mar-Vell Park
When: Monday Afternoon, Aug. 3rd
One thing that Dawn loved about being up in space was that there was no school. OK, she did love learning, but she had learned long ago that she didn't really dig the traditional high school environment and the like. However, she did like learning on her own. This was the same girl who had taught herself Turkish, after all. Today, she had gotten her hands on a book, and figured that a day out in the sun was just what she needed, stretching out over a bench, body soaking up some rays while she opened up the book, eyes scanning over the pages and not paying attention to anything going on around her.
Meanwhile, Victor had been enjoying himself aboard Knowhere, as while he'd volunteered to come here to help out, it was also a chance to escape his problems. Looking happier than he'd looked in a long time, smiling and dressed casually in jeans and a flannel shirt over a tee, he stuffed his hands in his pockets, walking through the park and marveling at how real it all seemed.
It took Dawn a moment to even hear that someone was walking near her. She was far more relaxed here than she had ever been at home, but hearing footsteps still caused her to look up and see who (or what, possibly) was near her.
Vic raised an eyebrow when he saw Dawn sit up, and he couldn't help but walk over to her. Granted, he hadn't exactly volunteered for this so that he could hit on girls... but she was just too stunning not to notice. "Ummm... Hi. How're you?"
And Dawn still saw herself as the awkward kid most of the time, so she had NO idea just how stinking hot she was. When the guy she'd heard started over, she smiled at him. "Hi," she said back. "Doing alright. Just enjoying the day. How are you?"
Running a hand through his hair with a nervous grin, he finally extended his other hand to her in greeting. "I'm... ok. Just doing pretty much the same thing. I'm Victor." And you're gorgeous, he thought, but kept to himself.
Dawn reached over and shook his hand. "Nice to meet you, Victor. So, are you a transplant like me, or are you actually from this universe?" She figured it was as good of a question to ask as any for them, right?
"I am, actually." He said, giving a cute, boyish grin. "From this universe, I mean. One of my teammates came up here to volunteer, and I offered to come with her, just to get away from everything for a while." You know, like being the 'offspring' of one of the most dangerous, psychotic villains in HISTORY... he thought but obviously didn't add.
Well, Dawn of all people understood 'dfficult' birth circumstances, didn't she? "It really is awesome that so many of you guys came up here and volunteered for this. Is it hard being away from home?"
"Not for me, anyway." He laughed, shaking his head. "My father is a completely, absolutely psychotic supervillain who killed my mom. So... Yeah. Home? Don't really have one of those anymore."
"Wow...and I thought my family life was complicated," Dawn couldn't help but comment. Well, hers still was complicated, but still! "How'd you manage to deal with all of that?"
"Well, admittedly, finding out you're the creation of an evil robot puts a major kink in one's self esteem..." He laughed, nervously shuffling his feet.
"I'm actually a creation by monks and was given false memories because my blood opens dimensional pathways between worlds," Dawn told him. "So it looks like we were both a little screwed in that department." That was something she'd never actually had in common with anyone else.
"Wow. A portal between worlds and an android created to destroy the earth's heroes." He said in a deadpan tone, giving a playful grin. "In other words, just two normal kids!"
She laughed. "I know right? I'm pretty sure that we're only missing the spawn of the literal devil and we'd make a fine set," she replied. Which might show up here soon, now that she thought about it.
"You know, dude from The Omen could always show up..." Victor joked, before showing up and realizing that was possible. "Yeah, not liking that idea, actually..."
"Yeah, we should probably keep it to people who aren't totally likely to try and kill everyone here," Dawn pointed out. "Although I don't think that's stopped some people from appearing so far, so who knows?"
"You know... it JUST hit me how I know you. And my friend Karolina is going to lose her MIND." He laughed, honestly not the type to fanboy out like that. Now, if Superman or someone showed up, THEN we'd hear him squeal.
Realizing what he meant, she couldn't help but blush a tad. "Gosh, I keep hearing that. I still can't imagine why people would enjoy watching ME." Her sister and her friends? Sure, but not Dawn.
"If it helps, I know of you, but that's about it. Kari's probably gonna have a zillion questions for you, but... I kinda just see a cool chick here. That's all." Victor said, giving a light shrug.
Dawn gave him a smile. "It's OK. I admit, it's kind of flattering that anyone would focus on me. I'm not really used to it." People's attentions were always on her sister. "And thank you."
