You Can't Be Serious Who: Serena and Jessica Where: Their apartment When: After the battle with Annihilus What: Reunion Rating: Some sexual content
While she couldn't participate in the battle in space Jessica instead focused on making sure that everyone who was on Galador got where they were going safely. It wasn't what she would have liked to have done but it was still necessary and important. While the battle raged above she did stop at one point to look at the sky. She wasn't one for praying but... she hoped that everyone came out alive. By the end of the day she'd read on the network that there was only one major injury and that no one had died. She'd thought about going to the docking bay to wait for Serena but instead went home, took off her leather jacket and set an unopen(!) bottle of whiskey on the desk, along with two clean glasses. She sat in her chair, kicked her feet on the desk and promptly fell asleep.
Finally, mercifully, Serena was back on Galador. She had to admit... as tiring as it all was, she got a thrill out of the battle. She and Chase had made a hell of a team, and managed to have almost instinctual teamwork. Still... once they'd landed? The first thing on Serena's mind was getting back to her home. Back to Jessica.
Still in her flight suit (and boy, did it feel weird to be in some semblance of military uniform again), Serena tiredly walked into the house ready to yell out for Jessica... only to see the brunette conked out at the desk. How adorable.
"Hey. Not to disrupt your nap or anything... but I'm home."
Jessica startled awake and looked at Serena wide-eyed. Despite hearing the good news, she still worried for her safety. She didn't say that with words, though, or exclaim that she was happy to see her. Jessica Jones wasn't good with words. Instead, she stood up, rounded the desk and pulled Serena in for a (almost!) crushing hug. "God you look hot in that flight suit."
"You shoulda seen me and Chase kicking alien ass. You'd have been a puddle." Serena grinned, that old cocky snark coming back to her for the first time in QUITE a while. "Also? Careful. I'll be a lot less hot with broken ribs."
"Sorry. Sorry." Jessica stepped back hastily, a blush(!) on her cheeks. What did she do now? Attentive girlfriend wasn't exactly her default. "Did you want a drink?" She gestured toward the unopen bottle. That was probably more what she wanted right now, so she thought and quirked an eyebrow: "Or a bath? I could run a bath."
"Oh my God. A bath sounds like heaven right now." Serena laughed, unzipping the front of her flight suit. "I am so sweaty and disgusting right now... you'd be the best girlfriend ever if you do that for me. Not that I have any real frame of comparison, but I imagine it's the case."
"I'll take it." Jessica gently tangled her fingers in Serena's and led her over to the bathroom. "So." She perched Serena on the edge of the tub as she filled it with water. She then knelt down to help Serena out of her boots. "Is today something you wanna talk about?"
"Oh, lord yes." Serena laughed, blushing as she said it. "It's embarrassing what a rush it was. Chase and I were SO on the same level... it was like we were symbiotic up there. I'd fly with him again any time. And when we started blowing those dickheads away? GOD I wish you coulda seen it."
One boot taken care of, Jess worked on the other. She didn't know what would be worse, being beside Serena during battle, or being as far apart as they were today. She decided not to dwell on the thought and instead peeled off Serena's socks next. For someone who worried that she wasn't an attentive partner she was doing alright here. "Is it selfish that I hope we don't have another battle anytime soon?" She looked away and added: "Kinda like you where I can see you."
"No, I feel the same." Serena replied, enjoying being pampered like this. Frankly, she didn't know Jess had it in her... but she found ehrself glad that she did. "I'm just glad that when it DOES happen, that I found someone I make a good team with. That can be the best part of military service, is that brotherhood."
Jess nodded. "I can't even imagine what it'd feel like to have that connection with someone." She took a moment to add some lavender oil ("not a word") to the water, then, satisfied that the tub was full and at the right temperature, she turned off the tap. She helped Serena back to her feet so she could strip her out of the rest of her clothes. "You're practically glowing."
"Combination of adrenaline and feeling just.... totally worshiped right now." She admitted with a light laugh. "God, I love you, Jessica Jones."
"I love you more, Serena Cooper," Jessica replied with a brilliant (and increasingly less rare) smile. She smacked Serena's bare ass. "In the tub with you. I'm not done worshipping you yet."
"So bossy..." Serena teased, tossing her flight suit across the room, and letting her bare body sink slowly into the tub, sighing happily as the hot water enveloped her.
"One of the many things you love about me, right?" Jessica purred. She slipped out of her own shoes and pants and sat at the head of the tub, sinking her feet in either side of Serena's body, and started gently(!) massaging her shoulders. She was usually more aggressive when it came to her affections, but she found that she was enjoying herself here.
"One of the many." Serena replied, for once not an ounce of sarcasm in her voice. She moaned happily at how surprisingly good at the massaging Jess was... that was something she'd not expected at all. "You're amazing, you know that?"
"Oh, I dunno about that," Jess replied with a lopsided smile as she continued with her ministrations. "I'm not the one who was protecting the planet from alien invaders."
"Hm. True." Serena said with a faux-cocky tone, "Ok, then we're amazing." She said with a wink, already planning to eventually pull Jess right into the tub with her, even fully clothed.
"We really are," Jessica agreed with a laugh. She fell silent for a moment as she moved her hands, circling the pads of her thumbs over the back of Serena's neck. "You know, I'm wondering," she started to say, her mind going to virtually the same place that Serena's was the moment before, "how long I can hold my breath."
"How long you can.....huh?" Serena asked, blinking a few times before her eyes went very wide. "OH. Oh my. Ok, now that's... that's something I've never experienced..."
"Would you like to?" Jessica purred, pleased with how well she'd managed to fluster to Serena. She felt like she'd never tire of that.
"Good LORD yes." Serena laughed with a blush, eyes locked on her lover. This was a spontaneous side of Jessica she hadn't seen much of... and she liked it.
Well, Jessica was a lot like an onion. She had a lot of layers. With a smile, Jessica manoeuvred out of the tub briefly so she could reposition. Still wearing her underwear, bra and muscle tee (she'd taken off her shoes and pants earlier), she slid into the water straddling Serena's thighs. "Don't say I don't do anything for you," she teased.
"I have a feeling I'm about to become incapable of saying anything at all." Serena said with a nervous, excited laugh, quickly leaning in for a loving, grateful kiss. "You never fail to amaze me, Jessica Jones."
Jessica cupped Serena's cheeks and drew her in for a much deeper, more intense kiss, drawing it out for a long moment. "And you are absolute perfection, Serena Cooper."
One thing Serena had never been good at was holding back when she had something to say. Even when she knew the thing she was thinking was likely to not go over well. As Jessica broke the kiss, she finally let the words just spill out, consequences be damned. "Marry me."
Jessica's first instinct was to play it off as a joke in a we only just moved in together kind of way, but she hesitated when she saw the sincerity in Serena's eyes. "You can't be serious," she said, voice deadpan. Still cupping Serena's cheeks, she smiled brilliantly, then kissed her again, putting more passion and love behind it than she had in any other kiss in her entire life.
Of course, the moment the kiss ended, Serena blinked and just gave a little smirk. "No. I always jokingly ask people to fucking marry me." Only Jess. She knew by now not to take these kind of reactions personally... it was just the way she was.
Well, Jess didn't have much of a verbal filter either, to be fair. She shifted a little in the tub, sliding her hands down to Serena's chest as she met her gaze. "I'll marry you," she said, tone serious this time, no quaver of uncertainty in her voice. "I mean... yes. Yes."
"I should PROBABLY remind you that my last engagement ended with me putting a bullet in my fiance's head..." Serena said with a dry tone, raising an eyebrow to the other woman. "Just saying."
Jess quirked an eyebrow and slid a hand underneath the waterline. "Well, I guess I'd better not do anything to piss you off then." She leaned over to kiss a tender spot on Serena's neck. "Now, relax and lemme take care of you."
"I do like the sound of this..." Serena chuckled, a little shocked she'd actually been able to make a joke about her own past... something that had haunted her for so long.
