Daryl tried to fight his natural instincts to create distances between himself and the people he cared about. It was harder than he wanted to admit. Instead he was around but he threw himself into his work. Working more hours than he did before Hershel was born. It made it easier to stay around because he really didn't want to leave Beth alone to deal with it all.
It was pretty early in the morning. The bar had just closed less than an hour ago. He was getting everything shut down. The rest of the staff had already finished their work and he was ending the work with counting the money for the night. It shouldn't take him too long. He was glad that he wasn't alone. All he had to do was look up and he saw Beth.
"You should play when there's more than just me here," he commented as he continued to handle the money from the register.
