Who: Sookie and Matthew What: Getting to know each other Where: Sookie's house When: Valentine's Day Night Status: Closed and ongoing
What a difference twenty-four hours makes. Yesterday she was spending this day alone and now she had a date. But was it a date? She pondered this about two seconds and decided it was.
She loved cooking. It reminded her of Gran. She imagined the little yellow recipe box Gran lovingly made for Sookie. She could almost see the handwriting on each little note card. How could he have known the song Matthew sang was one Gran had sung to her? She mentally danced with her memories of Gran until it was too painful. She smiled. She knew Gran was watching her and that calmed her.
She spent hours in the kitchen whipping up mashed potatoes, corn and then the chicken for frying. Finally, she made the banana pudding. She made a double batch so if Matthew liked it he could take some home. Finished for now, she went to shower. It didn't take her long to fix her hair and makeup. It did however take a while trying to decide what to wear. Finally she chose a teal sun dress, one that made her look unusually fetching.
She was ready early. Pacing around the house she was a bundle of nerves. She hated waiting for things. The cupids appeared, shooting her with their arrows; she began to sing. I'm walking on Sunshine. She began dancing for real this time. She felt beautiful, young and alive and full of expectation. It took her a minute to notice the doorbell was ringing. Oops she thought. He probably not only heard her sing but saw her dancing through the window. She didn't care. She was happy.
"Hello, welcome too my home. My Gran had a saying if you don't feel at home here that's where you ought to be. Sookie translation, the first time I'll wait on you but every time after you're family so you wait on yourself." The fairy barmaid laughed, it was lite and contagious. Immediately she looked down at her feet she'd forgotten to put on her stilettos. She hoped he didn't tower over her 5"5' frame.
