Elizabeth felt tears sting her eyes at her twin's words. There was so much she wanted to say about this. She always envied the seemingly perfect life that Jessica had. Cheerleading captain in high school, Queen Bee of her clique, the ability to make friends and captivate boys with a simple look or phrase. Elizabeth and Todd had their struggles and went through many breakups, but one thing remained the same through it all, and that was that he was the only boy she ever truly loved. Along with that, for Liz, though she knew it was horrible to think, Todd was the one boy that was hers alone, and only cared for Jessica as a friend would. Now, her twin had Todd, too.
But she couldn't tell Jessica this. For one, what was the point of going off on her over something that had yet to happen in her lifetime? Who knew if that part of the future would change if she ever got back to Sweet Valley? Or if she had come back from the past and already dealt with this, was there a reason to bring up old wounds? And the million dollar question, was this truly her Jessica?
"I guess that's the best I can hope for," Elizabeth smiled slightly at Jessica. Then her gaze panned over to Jake; how he looked like a son Elizabeth would've had with Todd. And the wedding band she just noticed on Jessica's finger. They were married.
"But... what do we do from here?" Elizabeth wanted to run at that moment and empty the contents of her stomach into a trash can. But also, despite her confusion and anger at Jessica, whether it was her Jessica or not, it was the only familiar face she saw here in Sunnydale. She didn't want to toss the relationship aside. They were more than twins, they were best friends, or they had been.
