The welcome center hadn't done anything to make Thomas feel welcome. He couldn't get it out of his mind that it was some type of trick. He didn't stop to talk to anyone. He wanted to make sure that he was able to get out of there. As he stepped out of the welcome center he looked around the open space. It was open space and he gave a breath of relief at that realization. It didn't quell all his fears but it made it a bit better to be there. He'd have to see more of it before he was sure of anything. He started walking faster when he thought he saw someone familiar. "Newt?" he called out. Newt didn’t like the welcome center at all. It reminded him of being trapped at wicked and it made him afraid. He looked around and frowned wondering if Thomas was there as well. He needed to get out of here. He got out of his chair and just walked away, hoping he’d escape. He didn’t know which way to go but he followed the exit signs. Then he heard the familiar voice calling out to him and sighed in relief. “Thomas?” He called back and started running to where he was. Thomas started to run when he realized that it was Newt. Not someone he had been mistaking for Newt. Running until he made he was close enough to wrap his arms around the other. He was so glad that Newt was there. "Are you alright," he said as he pulled away and looked over the blonde. He didn't seem to be hurt or anything. He'd rather ask then go on wondering. Newt nodded with a smile. Hugging Thomas tightly back, glad that his boyfriend was here with him. He could breathe easily now without worrying all the time. "I'm fine Thomas. This isn't Wicked again is it? We're safe?" he asked his voice was full of fear and he knew Thomas would take care of everything like he always did but if this place was Wicked they needed to get out of here. He pulled away when Thomas did and smiled again at him. Thomas might have been relieved that Newt was there with him. He was far from breathing easy. He hadn't stayed long enough in the welcome center to find out what was happening. He had made his escape as soon as he could because he thought it had something to do with Wicked. He wasn't going to stay there. "I'm not sure. I don't even remember how we got it," It was like one moment they were in one place and then they were here. "If we're not we'll deal with it." They've been even worse situations before. "We need to find a way out of here before they find us again. They seemed nice enough but we learned our lesson the last few times. We need to make sure we're safe." he said as he gripped Thomas's hand in his, he wasn't going to let Thomas out of his site. Even though he got the cure from him he still felt weak but he wasn't going to tell Thomas that. He didn't want his boyfriend to worry about him. "We should try and find somewhere to stay and get some food in our system. I don't know about you but I'm starving," he said taking a deep breath he needed to calm down. He didn't need to get worked up especially since they didn't know where they were yet. Thomas wasn't going to let anyone get them again. He knew that for sure. Just didn't know where to go from here. They had even less information than they did in the glade. At least there were boys there before him. "We just have to stay ahead of them," that was if Wicked was behind this. He would have to see his eye out for any sign of them. He didn't care that Newt gripped onto his hand. He welcomed any touch from his boyfriend. Thomas actually hadn't noticed that he was hungry until Newt said it. "Yeah, me too," He just didn't know where they were going to go. "Come on." He started to walk as he pulled gently on Newt's arm. “I know that we do. How are we going to find out if this is Wicked or not? Unless we ask around but they can easily lie.” He didn’t like that but they didn’t have another choice. And this welcome center seemed to confusing. He’d follow Thomas anywhere. He wrote that in a letter in case something happened to him. “Where do we get food?” "We'll have to go back to the welcome center," Thomas said as he was walking. He had no idea where he was going but they could just stand there. "It seems like the best place to get information." He didn't know how honest the information would be. It's better than nothing. Although that's not where they were headed right now. He was looking for where to get something to eat. "I'm not sure yet. We'll figure it out." “Alright I’ll go back there even if it creeped me out. I didn’t like that place at all. Even if the lobby was really well done.” He smiled a bit, he and Thomas has been through a lot. They’ll make through this together. “It’s not the safe haven but better than nothing I suppose.” He said in a tired voice hoping Thomas wouldn’t notice. It was good to know that Thomas wasn't the only one that found the welcome center creepy. He wondered if it was because they thought it was Wicked. "We'll go back later," Because he didn't want to go back there again. That was when he heard the tone of Newt's voice, "Are you sure you're okay?" "I just don't want to sleep outside. Remember what happened last time? Okay, we need to fix the bad memory situation while we're here Thomas. I need to have a good memory with you all the time." he smiled hoping that Thomas wouldn't have gotten offended with what he said. It wasn't a bad thing, he just wanted something happy. They were together that's really all that mattered to him and he was thankful that Teresa never ruined that for them. "Yes. I'm fine. I guess the cure takes a bit to kick in. I was feeling tired when I came here. I don't want you to worry about me. You got to me in time to give me the cure. I was never so worried about you.. I hope you know that." he said especially with what was going on around them that Thomas made sure to come back with the cure. Brenda helped but it was still dangerous "We're not going to sleep outside," Thomas would make sure of it. He didn't know where they were going to go yet but he was sure that they would find a place. He wasn't sure they had the best luck making any good memories. He would settle for not making any more bad ones. Maybe he'd feel better about what kind of memories they'd make here once he knew exactly what this place was. "I'm fine. Right now we're supposed to be worrying about you," He might not have said it yet but he hadn't stopped worrying about Newt. He didn't know what to expect with the cure. He was afraid it wouldn't work. "But it's working, right? You're okay, right?" "Good.. I really don't want to sleep outdoors. I wouldn't mind with you but I'd like to find a roof over my head at some point." This place was warm enough but he wasn't sure if they could trust the welcome center.. the last time they were tricked and he didn't want to have to deal with this again. He sighed a little, he just wanted to be with Thomas and actually be happy. "You don't need to worry about me Tommy I'll be okay. I think it takes a while to kick in. I'm still slightly weak but really I'll be fine." he kissed him softly, hoping that Thomas wouldn't worry about him. Once they found some food then they would look for somewhere to stay. Thomas didn't want to do it all at once. He had a feeling if they did that then it would take forever. He didn't know if he could wait that long to get something to eat. "I heard someone talking about free food to newcomers somewhere called The Crashdown in Sunnydale," it was worth a shot. He was going to keep his guard up. "We'll try there then I'll go back to the welcome center." He wasn't going to risk Newt. Just because Newt said not to worry didn't mean that Thomas would listen. He was already worried. "Okay," he kissed him back. Lingering on the other's lips a little while as he held him. Newt always liked kissing Thomas. It felt natural and he didn’t want to ever lose that. He just wanted to be there for him. They were each other’s soulmates and he knew that. He took a deep breath and pulled away. “I’m going back with you to the welcome center I’m not letting you go alone. But first let’s go to the Crashdown in hopes they do have food like you said.” He grabbed for Thomas’s hand as they walked together. Thomas didn't want Newt anywhere near the welcome center until they were sure. It didn't feel safe. "It would be a bad idea for us both to go," he tried to point out. "I think only one of us should go in. The other should watch from outside." The other being Newt. Thomas started walking in the direction he saw the train. He figured they would find it from there. "I'm not going to let you go in by yourself. Do you really think I'd let you?" he asked nervously, he didn't want to lose Thomas the way he had so many times before in the past. He didn't know if he could just wait outside. "Let's just get something to eat and we'll figure it out eventually," he said as they walked towards the train. He just wanted things to be normal for them. "You'll be watching my back. If I'm not out in five minutes then you'd make a plan to get me," There was a hidden benefit of Newt being outside of the welcome center. The most important part of Thomas whole plan of keeping Newt outside the welcome center. He walked over to the train. Making sure he was still holding the others hand as they made it to the train. "Oh thank god," he said as he pointed out that the stops were labeled. "It shouldn't take us too long to get there," He said as his stomach growled. "Alright fine.. if you really want me outside I'll stay outside. I'll have to think of a plan to get in there and get you out if you're not out a certain time," he said to Thomas, he wanted to make sure the other would always be okay. He knew Thomas was worried about him so he didn't want the other to worry to much, he'd be okay in the long run or he at least hoped that he would be. He squeezed his hand as they walked onto the train and nodded. "Okay. I'm just following you," he said as he rested his head against Thomas's shoulder once they sat down. He could close his eyes for just a few minutes.. or that's what he hoped for at least. Thomas really wanted Newt to be safe. He cared more about it than he did about his own safety. He had convinced himself it was because Newt was still recovering from getting the cure. "Good," because he couldn't handle anymore worry. He was leading the way the best that he could. He did have a good sense of direction. So maybe it was good that he was leading. It didn't take the train long to get to Sunnydale. It was the fastest Thomas ever got anywhere. "Whoa, that was fast," he said as he stepped off the train. "I know that you'll always worry Thomas I just don't want you to all the time it will make you get sick and I couldn't live with that. Then I'd worry," he said teasingly, hoping that he would be able to stay with Thomas and not go to another hospital. That's what he was really worried about. He rubbed Thomas's arm soothingly he was happy they ended up here together. "Yeah that was really fast. We'll have to use the train like that more often. Getting around at least. Now where do we go?" he asked Thomas couldn't help but worry. It wasn't like they had the easiest life. It was easy for them to get worried about each other. "No one's getting sick," As long as they got food in their system and somewhere warm to sleep. "We'll walk around and find it," It couldn't be that hard to find, could it? They just had to walk around a little. "Just keep your eyes open for The Crashdown." He was hoping it wasn't too far from the train. "I just hope that we don't get caught by Wicked again. I don't want us getting stuck in a place where we can't get out of. We need to trust other people." he said sighing a little as much as he didn't want to trust anyone but Thomas but they needed a place to stay. They needed a change of clothes and another shower. It's been way too long. "Okay. Just keep holding my hand Thomas we'll find it," he said looking around as they walked, it was a little cold and he shivered slightly. They had a lot of snow on the ground. "Is that it up ahead?" he asked "Yeah," Thomas agreed with him but honestly he wasn't planning on trusting anyone. At least not any time soon. Too much had happened for him to trust anyone outside of Newt anytime soon. He was good with his small world. He wasn't going to let go of that hand. "I think it is," he said as he looked where Newt pointed out. He was glad that it didn't take to long to find it. "Let's go in. We'll get something to it." He wanted to get out of the snow too. He was already getting cold. Maybe it was because he was so tired. "I wonder why we were brought to this place.. maybe they felt like it would be safer for us here than always on the run?" He asked as they walked towards the Crash Down together. It seemed like an interesting cafe. He wondered what they served here. "It smells pretty good," he said once they reached the door and went inside.. at least it was warmer here. He liked holding Thomas's hand it felt nice and he didn't want to lose the other. "We don't have any money though.. unless it 's free?" He asked looking around, they hadn't had money in their hands as long as he could remember. Thomas didn't even know where to begin with that question. "Why does anything happen to us?" He said as he walked into the diner with Newt. "I don't think we'll get the answer to that. But you're right. It smells amazing in here." It made him hungrier just being around the smell of food. The warmth was nice too. He didn't mind this place at all. It didn't seem like anything Wicked would do. "If the people in the park were right then it's free because we're new," He really hoped that they were right. He moved to hit at the first open booth. He winced as he sat down. He hadn't realized how much pain he was in. Being more worried about Newt and where they were. Newt sat across from Thomas just to give the other space unless he told him to move later on. He would sit next to him if he was asked and then he noticed he wince. That wasn't a good sign, he knew that his boyfriend was shot before he got to him again. That made him furious if the other two weren't dead he would've found a way to kill them himself. "We should get your stomach checked out Thomas. I noticed the wince you just did," he said looking at him and hoped that the other was okay. "Oh then that's good that it's free. I wonder what they're serving." Thomas didn't want to worry about his gunshot wound. It probably hurt because he ran out of the welcome center when they first got there. He shouldn't have been moving so much. "It's all stitched up. I'm sure it's going to hurt for a while," but he was hoping that they'd be sitting there for a minute. He wasn't quite ready to go anywhere else yet. "You can take a look after we eat." Just so that he could make sure Newt wasn't worrying about it. There were menus already at each of the booths. So Thomas reached to grab one and handed another to Newt. "Do you think they have soup?" He really wanted something that would warm him up. "I know it's all stitched. I was there when they worked on you. Did you think I was going to leave your side after you healed me Thomas?" he asked and shook his head, he would never leave the others side again. Especially in this new crazy place they were dropped in. "Okay. I'll do just that. If I see any sign of affection though we're going to get you checked." He'd always worry about Thomas, that's what happened they worried of each other. "They probably do if it's a cafe." He said as he looked over the menu he wasn't really hungry but if he didn't eat something he knew how Thomas would get. "I'm not really sure what to get at the moment," he added Thomas knew that he wouldn't get out of this so easily. It wasn't like a cut or bruise. It was a gunshot. It wasn't something that would be easily brushed under the rug. "It doesn't hurt much, really," He said trying to ease the other's worry. "Just need to not run around again." He was hoping that they wouldn't have to. If this wasn't Wicked then he could finally relax and heal. They both could. He looked down at the menu and the word soup jumped out at him. The food had hilarious names. He was glad that they had come there already. "Guess I'm getting the Spaced Out Soup," he said as he looked up at Newt. "What did you want?" "Are you lying to me right now? Thomas you should know me better than that." He sighed a little but he will drop it for now so they could eat their meal. "You can take a break Tommy. I'll make sure you're taken care of. Though I think we might need to find a place to stay. We're young they won't let us live on our own even though we had to throughout the years." He said sighing angrily about that, he just hoped that Thomas would be able to come with him. He wouldn't be able to go anywhere without him. "Grilled Mooncheese sandwich whatever that is but it sounds good. I'll stick with that and what type of drinks should we get?" He asked they had something called milkshakes and sodas so he wasn't sure what was good. "Fine, it hurts a little but I'm okay," It wasn't anything to worry about right now. They just needed to rest a bit. Which they could while they were eating. He was planning to eat slowly so he wouldn't have to get up for a little while. He hadn't thought about having to stay with someone. "I'll go wherever you go. Even if we have to stay with a stranger," Although he didn't like that at all. It was better than staying with a stranger by himself. "Should we try these milkshakes?" He didn't know what it was but he liked milk. He didn't think it should be that different. "We should've tried to find painkillers or something for you at the welcome center. They're bound to have that or at least you think they should. Which is why we should both go inside. I know you don't want me to but I don't think you should go inside yourself when you're injured." He hoped that Thomas would agree with him, but he knew how stubborn his boyfriend could be. "Okay good. We'll just have to figure out where we're going at some point that's all... not sure where though." He shrugged he figured someone would take them in or he at least hoped that they would. "Yeah why not. Maybe they come in different flavors or something?" he asked but he wasn't sure maybe the waitress could help them. Thomas had been hoping that Newt wouldn't put that together. That the injured between the two of them shouldn't be the only one to go back to the welcome center. He really didn't want Newt to go back there until they were sure about who was behind it all. "Newt..," he wanted to argue with his boyfriend but the rest of the words didn't come out. "We'll figure it all out after we eat," He wanted to handle one thing at a time. Otherwise they'd miss something. He needed to get his head around his before losing Newt again. If they were behind this. Just as he was going to say that was a good idea the waitress came over. She seemed friendly enough. Just asking what they wanted and if they had any questions. "Yeah, these milkshakes do they come in other flavors," Which came with a list of different flavors. "Chocolate and the Spaced Out Soup." Then he looked over to Newt so that the other could order. Newt smiled and shook his head. He didn't want Thomas arguing with him. That wasn't the point at all with this conversation. He just wanted to make sure his boyfriend was healed and safe and not harmed at all anymore. Would he able to do that like Thomas had done so much for him already? he wasn't sure. "Sounds good. We'll be okay I promise," he vowed to him and he was going to make sure they were okay, he wasn't going to beat around the bush with anything while they were here in this weird and strange place. They weren't stuck in another maze and thankfully they had no Grievers. He ordered his meal and the same shake as Thomas. He wasn't sure if the others would be good or not. He smiled over at Thomas as the waitress left. "At least here is warm and comfortable. Kind of a weird theme though don't you think?" he asked wondering what the weird looking things were on the wall. Thomas was too tired to argue anymore. They had already talked about who was going into the welcome center before. It seemed like he wasn't going to win this time. Plus it was nice that they were there together. "I hope so," Thomas wasn't sure how he felt about this place. At least in the restaurant, it was warm and they were going to get something to eat. He hoped that this turned out to be something good. Although he was already preparing for if it wasn't. Planning things in his head for whatever could happen. He smiled because he had just been thinking about it being warm there. "I think the theme is cool," He said as he looked around. "I'm just happy we're getting food into our system. I'm starving. It feels like I haven't eaten since you cured me. Even though I remember eating at the safe haven. Not that I remember what I ate. I was sitting next to you while you slept after what they did to help you." he remembered that the others tried pulling him away but he said no to them. Told them to back off he wasn't leaving. "It's different not something we've seen. Especially after seeing those damn bloody cranks. I hope we never have to see any of them again anytime soon." he laughed softly and then the milkshakes came over first and he took a drink from it. "Hmm that tastes good," he said. Thomas knew that he hadn't eaten yet. The last thing he remembered from home was walking up and just starting to get a look around. He was glad that they were eating too. He hoped that he could keep it down. As starving as he was he felt sick too. "Me too," he said as he looked up to Newt. "Hopefully it doesn't take too long." As Newt mentioned cranks he realized he hadn't seen any. The sun was out and people were going on like nothing. Businesses, people having fun. "We need to get answers about this place," As soon as possible. He looked up when the milkshakes were dropped off at the table. He looked good and he took a sip at the same time as Newt. "Yeah, it is. It's sweet," He didn't think it would be sweet but it was so good. The waitress came over with their food a few minutes later and he was thankful for that and even said thank you to her. “She must’ve heard you.” Newt said laughing softly as he picked up his sandwich to start eating. “Yeah we do but who are we bloody going to get it from? I mean it’s different here. It’s strange that we’re here but we are and we can help protect others.” He wanted to make sure wicked never came here to destroy them or anyone else. “Very sweat but I like it. I think we found a new place to at least eat in.” He grinned as he continued to eat his meal. Thomas laughed when Newt said the waitress must have heard him. If she did, he was glad because he couldn't wait to dig in. He smelled the aroma of the soup. Feeling the warmth come off of it. He grabbed his spoon and started to scoop up his first bite. He felt his body melt into the bite. Starting to shake a bit as he swallowed. Guess he didn't realize how hungry and tired he was until he took that bite. He was more worried about Newt. He rested his elbows on the table as he continued to eat as he listened to Newt. He took a pause in his eating, "We'll figure it all out. I promise," But at least they weren't outside. The food in his system was different. He hadn't a decent meal like this since the maze. They were always on the run. Always searching for an answer. His body was going to have to get used to this. "This food is good.. but you're looking at me like you're worried again," he said laughing, he could always tell how Thomas was feeling. It was strange but that's how it was with them. "I know we will. All of this is just new and nerve-racking. We need a place to go after here." he said worriedly, hoping that they'll find somewhere to go. Thomas didn't want to worry about Newt. He wanted to be able to enjoy a meal without worrying about what would happen to them next. "Maybe a little," He admitted as he looked down to the bowl of soup. "I'm just tired. I wish we could stay here for a minute," He wasn't sure he had enough strength to get up again. He didn't want to say that because then he knew Newt would freak out about it. That wouldn't be good for either of them. "We could ask if we can stay here. It doesn't look that busy. We're both tired. Before we came here we've been through hell and back. I almost thought I lost you.." He whispered and almost felt his voice crack, he wasn't going to cry. He didn't want Thomas to really worry about him. "Want me to order you something else Thomas?" he asked. "Who would we ask? The waitress?" Thomas wasn't sure if they would be able to stay after they finished their meals. He wasn't sure how this place worked. Maybe if they are slowly but he couldn't seem to slow himself down. "You won't lose me." He started to reach across the table but quickly pulled his arm back. That was a bad idea. "I'm okay," he felt the need to say that after pulling his arm back. He shook his head, "I don't know if it would be free. It's just the one meal." He didn't want to risk owing anything because he was still hungry. “Yes. I’m sure the waitress wouldn’t mind if we sat here a few minutes after we ate. She seemed nice enough.” He didn’t think it would hurt to ask, they were warm and rested for a bit. “I know you’re okay now but it was scary back home for a few minutes. Luckily you woke up after a while.” He was glad he would never lose Thomas and he wanted to feel the other right now. “I’ll ask. But I want to sit next to you the second time around. You can rest on me.” He said. Thomas hoped the waitress wouldn't mind just a little wait. He wasn't even done with his soup yet. So it probably wasn't something that they had to worry about. "She does seem nice," But maybe that was her job. Be nice to the people she was serving. He was overthinking things a little bit. Thomas hadn't even thought about what it was like for Newt. He had been shot and went through surgery which wasn't something Newt could help with. "I know it was," he said quietly. He didn't want either of them to go through that. "Yeah, okay," he wouldn't mind rest on Newt for a little while. "Did you want another bowl of soup or something? I might order one for myself since it smells really good," he asked with a smile and he hoped that it was still free or at least whatever they'd get was free he'd just have to come up with money to pay for it. He got up after he was done and sat down next to him. He wanted Thomas to get some rest and comfort at least. Thomas looked up and Newt with a soft smile on his face, "Um, yeah. Let's do that." He hoped that the entire meal was free and it wasn't just for a plate of food for each newcomer. Because he didn't have any way to pay for the additional bowl of soup. He was glad that Newt decided to sit next to him when coming back to the table. He moved slightly so he could easily lean on the blonde. It was a bad idea because it felt so comfortable. "I'm just going to rest my eyes for a sec. Tell me when the rest of the food gets here," he said as he rested his head on Newt's shoulder. His eyes slowly closing as he relaxed his body. Newt liked that Thomas rested his head against him, that's what he wanted to happen. He wanted Thomas to feel safe and they were safe here at least for the time being. He almost fell asleep himself but then the waitress came back with two bowls of soup and a friendly smile. "Thomas.. wake up the food is here." He whispered and he kissed his cheek gently Thomas' eyes remained closed as he heard Newt's words and felt the lips on his cheek. He rubbed his head softly into the other boy's shoulder. He didn't want to open them yet. "Just another minute," He said softly as he rested comfortably against the blonde. He was too comfortable to move quite yet. He just needed a little bit more time just sitting there. Newt hated that Thomas was this tired and hoped that they would be able to sleep at some point. They didn't have to worry about running away from things or he at least hoped they didn't. He wanted a normal life. He let Thomas rest for a few minutes as he started to eat his soup slowly, he didn't want to startle Thomas into anything either. |
