Even as light-footed as she was, Matt heard her coming. He also heard the nervous patter of her heartbeat, which was why he waited and let her decide how to approach him. When she tapped his shoulder and introduced herself, he turned slowly, clutching his cane in both of his hands at chest height and offering her a smile. He was dressed in one of the few business suits that he owned and had round, red-rimmed glasses perched on his nose. He wore them more for other peoples benefit, as if to remind them that he was handicapped.
"Sally, hi." He exhaled. He realized then that he must have worked himself up too much thinking about the possibilities. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Matt." He took his cane in one hand and extended the other hand in a friendly gesture. "I can't thank you enough for coming out here like this."
