Kylo watched her for a brief moment, before picking up the menu himself. During his time here, he had found a few dishes to be similar to ones that he knew at home, and he would likely stick with them. However, looking at the menu bought him some time to think, to judge what topics of conversation would be easiest to stick to. Even if he's not entirely sure he can stick to simple things, and simple things refuse to come to his mind. He glances up at her over the menu and sits it to the side.
"...You've been here for a while," he said slowly. "Have... How has that been?" It's not what he wants to ask; he wants to ask what she had been doing, who she knew, if she was close with anyone. All of that feels too personal right now.
