Enjoying the Night Out
Who: Nebula and Rick
When: Post-Halloween Madness
Where: Ryze
What: Celebrating Normalcy (or what counts for it here)
Nebula walked into Ryze, feeling more in her element each time she walked into the club. She wouldn't admit it to many people, but Rick had done a lot for making her feel more comfortable around people. Barbara had done a lot of that work as well, but Rick had maybe 'completed' it. She felt more comfortable walking around large groups of people. She still sometimes caught herself thinking of different ways of killing everyone around her, but she was becoming less afraid of herself when she did. She was trained to be an assassin. She wasn't that, anymore, though. Now she felt like she was something of a good person. She at least wanted to be and, most of the time, anyway, she felt like that was enough.
The past month had been awful for a lot of people, but Nebula had kind of enjoyed it. She could unleash her more violent impulses on the insane things flooding their world. It had actually been pretty fun. Tonight, though, she hoped for a more...normal kind of fun. Wearing her more regular clothing tonight instead of a dress, she looked around, trying to spot Rick.
The attack by the monsters had rattled Rick a bit. It reminded him both of how helpless he was around all these superpowered types, AND made him remember once again how badly he wished he had been able to be a Spaceknight. So now that the situation had passed, he was doing his best to lose himself in though, watching the various beings that danced and mingled through his club. Still, it was hard for him to think about ANYTHING bad when he saw Nebula walking in. To many, she may have been scary, or creepy, or intimidating... but to him? She was perfection in every way. Even his smile gave that away, as his face brightened the moment he laid eyes on her.
When she did spot him, she gave him a smile in return, heading his way. "Enjoying yourself tonight?" she asked as she sat down. She knew that he liked his club. It likely hadn't seen much business in the past week before Halloween had ended and it seemed that everything returned to...well, normal for this place. It was still something of a chaotic mess of a planet that seemed like it might burn down at any minute because someone did something stupid. People weren't dying as much as they were last month, though, so there was that.
"I am now." He replied, without hesitation. Had anyone ever looked into her eyes the way he did? With that overabundance of admiration, hunger, and maybe even love? "I swear I constantly forget how beautiful you are. It just blows me away every time I see you."
No one had looked at her like that before, actually. She still wasn't quite sure what to make of it, but she knew she liked it. "I'd say that you were trying to get something from me if I didn't know better," she said, leaning over and kissing his cheek. For her to feel comfortable enough to do that? In public? Was impressive enough.
"Oh, I'm definitely hoping to get something from you eventually... but I'd never use compliments to get it." Hah! Was that his way of making sure she knew JUST how into her he was? Shh. He reached over, tenderly laying a palm on the metal of her right arm, reacting no differently to the feel of it than he would the arm of any other person. She was who she was, and he wouldn't change a thing.
She just laughed. She knew that he wouldn't do something like that to her. She could count the number of people she trusted on one hand, but he was one of them. She leaned slightly against him when he put his arm around her. She didn't even mind him touching her robotic arm. She usually only allowed others to touch it if she needed a repair that she for some reason couldn't do herself. "Has the club been quiet this past week?" she asked as she watched the crowd dance and have fun.
"Definitely." He answered, still enjoying just gazing at her as they spoke. "People were afraid to leave their homes, and rightfully so. Not everyone is as bad-ass as you, ya know."
Not everyone had been trained like her, thankfully. She could more than take care of herself, she she had paid a big price for that ability. "It's good that they're able to go out now," she said. "I was able to...weather through it." Enjoy herself. "I know others aren't so able."
Rick, a fun-loving, witty, charming guy... seemed like an odd match for the stoic, serious, violent Nebula. Yet somehow, they just clicked. And in spite of the fact that Rick had been flirted with by some of the most traditionally beautiful women in the galaxy.... damn if he didn't find Nebula to be the single most gorgeous woman he'd ever seen. And the way he gazed at her? Made that clear to ANYONE who happened to be looking. "So aside from all that madness... how's my girl?"
"I'm doing quite well," she answered. She never thought that she would have found someone like this for herself, yet here she was. "How are you doing now?" It had taken some adjustments, but she was finding that she liked caring about the welfare of someone else, too.
"Truthfully?" He asked, giving an embarrassed chuckle. "Right now I feel on top of the world. Just because I'm with you. Kinda feels like nothing really matters as long as I'm with you." He wasn't trying to be romantic, nor was he trying to purposely NOT make a move on her... in his head, Rick was trying to make sure she felt like the beautiful, cherished woman that she was.
"You really know how to make someone feel special," Nebula said, cheeks turning a bit purple with a blush. She wasn't sure if she would ever get used to someone talking to her like that. Maybe that would help her to never take it for granted. "You make me feel on top of the world, too."
"You say that now..." He said, a twinkle of mischief in his eyes. "And you haven't even spent the night with me yet." Give the guy a break, folks. He might have been trying to wait... but GOD did everything about her turn him on.
"As nice as it would be, that's not what makes me feel so...amazing around you," Nebula said. "I wasn't...taught that having any sort of feelings was a good thing. At home, no one cared about me at all. With people like you here...it makes me feel like I'm the person I was always supposed to be. Before Thanos took me." Before she was molded into an instrument of death.
"I'm glad I can make you feel like that, Nebula." He said, leaning in to sweetly nuzzle her cheek. "I've felt a pull to you since the first time we met, but... god you have no idea how much I'm falling in love with you."
She reached over and grabbed his hand, squeezing it. She still wasn't always good at showing genuine affection for people, but she was getting better at it, and at accepting it, too. "I'm very glad that you found me on the network like you did." Even if it had caused her to nearly have a panic attack.
"You know... I kinda made a snarky comment about it earlier, but... I really WOULD love it if you'd come home with me tonight." He said, honestly having to resist the urge to start pawing at her right there.
She smiled, leaning slightly against him. "I think I would be highly amendable to that," she said. Truly, she would absolutely love to go home with him, but she'd just never say it that way.
"We might want to go soon then." He said, giving an adorably boyish chuckle as he almost blushed. "Because I'm having a hard time keep my hands off you here and now."
Nebula laughed, leaning more into him. "I'm fine with leaving as long as you think the club can run fine without you," she teased, reaching up and lightly running her fingers down his arm.
"That's what I have employees for, babe." He grinned, pausing as they stood to pull her in for a deep, sexually-charged kiss, one unlike any he'd given her yet. "You really are the sexiest woman I've ever met."
She kissed him back, moaning softly as she did. She was experienced enough, but with the feelings, all of this was intensified tenfold. "Then I suggest we take our leave and let them do what you pay them for," she insisted.
