Taking Advantage of Being Human
Who: Eric and Dawn
Where: Summers' Residence
When: Backdated to when everyone was human for a week
What: Eric decides to enjoy his new human status with Dawn

Typically, back home Eric had to sleep during the day. Hell, ever since he moved to Galador (with an actual sun) he had to sleep during the day. To prevent the bleeds and a general weakening, as he was sure that every vampire from back home had to do. So imagine his surprise when he woke up in his coffin before noon on Saturday morning, refreshed for the day and in possession of a heartbeat. Well now, wasn't this interesting? He checked the network to see what was going on and felt better for it. As far as he could gather something magical and quite extraordinary had happened.

He decided to take advantage of his newfound humanness to shower, dress and go out into the day. As the sunlight hurt his eyes, he went back into Death & Taxes and found a pair of sunglasses in Lost and Found and decided to try again. Ah. Much better. He extended his bare arms as he walked out into the day, still half expecting to catch alight. Apart from a general (surprisingly pleasant) warmth, he felt fine. Hm. What should he do with this new human body? He smiled as a thought came to mind.

Little more than 30 minutes later he was knocking on Dawn's door. He could have called first to at least find out she was home, but where was the fun in that?

Because of both her job and her boyfriend's....well, nocturnal leanings, Dawn had sleep in as well. Which meant she had missed the initial cluster bomb that was everyone finding out that they were powerless. She had only just gotten up and fixed herself a cup of coffee when there was a knock at her door. Still clad in the boxers and tank top she had slept in, she opening the door, eyes going wide when she saw that it was Eric. "Eric!? What are you doing here?! Get inside before you burn!" She grabbed his wrist, ready to drag him inside.

Eric went inside willingly, surprised by Dawn's strength (and his lack of it!). He chuckled, both pleased and amused by her reaction. "I assure you of I was going to burn I would have done so over 20 minutes ago." He smiled and placed a warm palm to her cheek, something he had never been able to do previously. Vampires tended to run on the cold side, after all. He smiled. "I'm not entirely sure what's happened... but I'll take it while I can."

She blinked in surprise when she felt the warmth of his hand, actually taking a moment to reach out and feel his pulse on his wrist. "What the hell?" she said, astonished when she could feel a heartbeat. She looked up at him. "How is this even possible?"

"If I had to guess? Some kind of spell," Eric replied, slowly and cautiously taking off the sunglasses. The light indoors was kinder to his eyes and made it easier to adjust. He watched her expression, a half smile on his face. Oh, he doubted it was a long term thing, but he'd enjoy the novelty of it while he could. "I thought we should enjoy it while we could."

No, it likely wasn't a long term thing, but it could have serious repercussions! What if this was fixed while he was out in the sun? It was definitely a concern! "Oh yeah? And just how were you thinking of having us enjoy it then?" Dawn asked him. She was ok with taking advantage, just with, you know, being careful.

"Well, I should think one thing would be obvious," he rumbled with a quirk of an eyebrow and giving her an obvious once-over. He couldn't help it! "Buuuut this could be a good way for you to introduce me to all of the foods that you like. Maybe then I'll finally understand why you're so crazy about chocolate." He set a hand on her hip. "Maybe an afternoon walk. Just once."

"See, you say that and suddenly my mind is not on food at all," she admitted with a laugh. "But if you want, I can introduce you to the wonders that is ice cream." Heck, they could do both! Feeding each other ice cream while in bed could totally be a thing, right?

Oh, it totally could! Eric's face lit up. "OK. Walk first. I won't hear 'no' this this," he added. He felt that time was limited with his time in the sun and would like to experience it at least once while he could on the planet. He took in Dawn's sleepwear again and let out a low rumbling sound. "A short walk."

She smiled at him. "Fine. A short walk then," she agreed. It would be nice to enjoy a bit of sun with him. She didn't mind that he was a vampire and night visits were what they were limited to, but this change was definitely worth taking advantage of. "Let's go then."

"As you are?" Eric asked with a low rumble. Offh. Making love in the sun. Did her dare? Of course he did. He gave Dawn a sly smile, tugged her in and kissed her. He was teasing. Mostly. "Put something on," he decided.

Dawn looked down at her outfit before laughing. "Fair enough. Let me get changed into real clothes and we'll go for a walk." She kissed him back before heading towards the stairs so that she could go to her room and get changed.

Eric tilted his head to one side to watch Dawn as she left. He couldn't help it but react a certain way to her appearance, but he set those thoughts aside for now. They'd surely take advantage of his newfound humanness later in the evening, and frankly, he had his mind set on doing mundane things that, due to what he (normally) was, they wouldn't be able to do. He liked Dawn, more than he'd openly say to anyone other than Dawn or perhaps Pam, and since the opportunity presented itself, well; he just wanted to show her how much.

She came back down a few minutes later, wearing jeans and a tank. Sure, she could dress up, and she might later, but she wanted to both be comfortable and not take too long. If Eric could be in the sun, then she wanted to spend every moment possible with him. "Are you ready?"

"Always," Eric rumbled, offering her the crook of his arm for Dawn to take to lead her out of the apartment. He gave her a warm smile and realized then that he'd do whatever it took to make sure that she was happy. He did that for Pam now and before, Godric too; but Dawn? Dawn he'd see the sun for. Literally. Whether he was a vampire or not. "Shall we, my love?"

She linked her arm with his so that they could walk out, practically glowing as she looked up at him. She had already accepted that, with a vampire boyfriend, she wouldn't be taking long walks in the day with him. So to have this possibly one time treat was extra special.
