"I know I already said it a good five times, but... I've never been more grateful and happy to see that face as I am now." Aubrey said, snuggled up in Aurora's lap as they watched television on Aubrey's bed. "It's like I was drowning, and fate threw me an Aurora-shaped life preserver."
Aurora rubbed her hand along Aubrey's back. Aubrey hadn't expressly gone into detail about the few months that she'd been there without Aurora, but Aurora could guess most of it anyway and so, decided not to push. She kissed the spot just below Aubrey's ear. "Rachelle said that I could stay a little while. At least until The Powers That Be find me a place to stay.
"You can't just.... stay forever?" Aubrey asked, honestly only-half-joking. She really didn't understand why Aurora couldn't just stay with them. "I love you, sweetie. You have no idea how much."
Aubrey was lucky she missed the argument that Neely and Morgan had had about it, honestly. ("It's not appropriate," Morgan said. "And we're the poster children for what's appropriate," Neely had replied. Needless to say, Morgan was still pretty grumpy over that). "I love you too. So much," Aurora murmured. "I thought that I'd find an after school job. Maybe when I turn 18 I can find my own place and we can be like John and Yoko for a while. Grow our hair for peace, stuff like that."
"We're forever, right baby?" Aubrey asked, as if looking for confirmation that somehow Aurora still found her worthy of her love. "I think I've already proven I'm a complete dumpster fire without you."
Aurora tsked and gave her a 'what are you even talking about?' expression. "You are NOT a dumpster fire." She gave her a possessive squeeze. "But yes, we're forever. Forever and ever," she confirmed. She hated seeing Aubrey so down on herself. "I really wish you could just... see yourself through MY eyes, because I happen to think that you're AMAZING."
"Mm. 'Great', maybe, but not amazing." Aubrey said, raising an eyebrow as that old familiar smirk returned. "Amazing is what you look like without clothes. Bloody HELL you're absolutely irresistible."
Aurora nibbled on her bottom lip. "Hmm, I wonder what's on your mind," she teased. They'd been together for a while before they became physically intimate, but like most young lovers once they started they just couldn't seem to stop.
"Look who we're talking about." Aubrey said, in a hilariously deadpan tone. "Like there's ever anything else on my mind." If there was a good thing that came from Aubrey being such an incurable nympho half the time, it was the fact that at least it meant she was finally winning the battle against the trauma she'd gone through back home.
That was something positive to be taken from it. For the longest time Aurora worried that Aubrey would never find her way back to herself. Oh. She doubted that she would ever be fully healed, but she'd always take Aubrey as she was, and as much of herself as she was willing to give. "Y'know, I'm still kind of in *awe* of your patience when we first got together."
Aubrey thought about that for a moment. She really had been patient and selfless when they had first gotten together. Especially considering the kind of life Aubrey lived prior to that. "I think... when I saw the woman I loved so sick, and fighting so hard just to stay alive... honestly, making you happy was ALL that mattered to me. My own wants and needs were in the distant background."
"There isn't a day that goes by where you don't do or say something that makes me breathless, you know that right?" Aurora had been *terribly* sick for some time, and Aubrey had stuck by her side through thick and thin, just as Aurora had been there for Aubrey after her rape. They really *had* grown from strength to strength, both as individuals *and* as a couple.
"I suppose that's fitting..." Aubrey told her, looking into her eyes with more love and devotion than she ever thought herself capable of. "Because I'm breathless every time it hits me that of all the people in the universe... you gave your heart to me." She nuzzled the other girl, taking in her scent with a happy sigh. "You make me better just by being near me."
Aurora's eyelids fluttered closed and she enjoyed the moment. Aubrey was being in an especially clingy and lovey mood, and so was she. "Then I guess we're perfect, because that's exactly how I feel. I'm the best version of myself when we're together."
"You know..." Aubrey said, sniffling back a few happy tears, just ecstatic to have the girl back in her life. "I still mean what I told you a while back: one day? I'm gonna marry you." Aubrey had never met anyone that she could even imagine being as happy with as Aurora. She had admittedly had a crush forming (a big one, to be honest) on Noah, but the moment Aurora showed up, that damn near instantly dissipated.
Aurora let out a happy little squeak. "I look forward to it, because I know that it's gonna be the happiest day of my life. But you know what?" She added with a whisper as if they were conspiring something (and maybe they were). "I think today's right up there in terms of happy days. Top five, easily." Aurora really was the epitome of sweetness. When you thought that she couldn't say something to outdo what she'd previously said, the next words out of her mouth did just that.
"Mmm. I agree." Aubrey coo'ed, a content smile on her face as she snuggled closer. "I think if it were possible, I could spend forever just laying in your arms. It's the best, most calming feeling in the world."
Aurora smiled and gave Aubrey a squeeze. She was sure she'd be moved into more permanent lodging with a guardian soon, so she'd take moments like this while she could. "Isn't it though?" Aurora agreed. She held on just a little bit tighter, willing this moment to never end.
"Aurora?" Aubrey asked, looking up at her with wide, adoring eyes. "Can I ask you something without freaking you out? Or is that kind of a ridiculous thing to say?"
"Ridiculous in that there's nothing that you could say that would *ever* freak me out," Aurora replied. Her interest was certainly piqued, though. "What's on your mind?"
"I know we're young." Aubrey said, as if saying what she thought Aurora would respond with before even starting. "And this... this isn't an 'official proposal' or anything... but would you be entirely weirded out if I said I already think of you as my wife?"
Aurora blinked and gave her a surprised smile. "Pleasantly surprised, more than anything." She'd hoped that marriage would be where they were heading, but to hear Aubrey say it just warmed her heart. "What makes you... bring it up?"
"Just thinking." Aubrey said, pausing momentarily to lean in and kiss Aurora's lips. "That my life is a flaming dumpster without you. I only feel whole when I'm with you. Like our souls are already entwined the way a married couple's are."
"Soulmates," Aurora murmured, liking the sound of that. She continued the soft train of her fingertips down Aubrey's spine. "You know, whatever happened, or happens, I'll always stand by your side. And whatever we have to face, we'll face it together."
"I was a very bad girl while we were apart." Aubrey said, not ever about to hide a single thing from Aurora. "But I'm a better person when you're here. You're the only person I want. Ever."
Anyone else might have flown off the handle knowing that their partner had been intimate with someone else. Not Aurora. She'd seen Aubrey spiral, knew where her thoughts went when she was in a bad mental state. She caressed Aubrey's cheek. "It's okay," she cooed.
"You promise?" Aubrey asked, sniffling a bit. "Because I feel like I'm.... just a really bad person right now." Sure, the night she spent with Tea and Bea was still a VERY pleasing memory... but she also felt bad about it.
"Promise," Aurora nodded. One had to wonder what Aubrey had to do to lose the love of this girl. Hopefully we never find out. "And I'd never lie to you." She paused, choosing her next words carefully. "If you ever get to that bad place again, you come to me, okay?"
"I will, I promise." Aubrey said, tears welling up in her eyes. She knew, deep down, that technically she hadn't done anything wrong. She had no reason to think Aurora would ever appear in this world. And her night with Tea was only about calming the raging wildfire inside her that threatened to burn her alive. But she still FELT as though she'd cheated on her. And that feeling broke her heart. "I just... if I knew you were going to be brought here, I would never have done the things I did."
"I know." One could have argued that it *was* cheating and that Aubrey could have excercised some self control, but Aurora had a heart of gold and didn't say anything like that. "It doesn't matter now."
"Every part of me belongs ONLY to you, baby. I swear." She said, before placing Aurora's palm on the side of her head. "Mind..." She lowered that hand to rest on her chest. "Heart..." And then she lowered that hand more, to rest between her thighs. "And body."
"All mine," Aurora agreed as she gave Aubrey's thigh a squeeze. She then leaned in for a kiss, putting a surprising amount of intensity behind it. "Just like I'm all yours."
"I love you..." Aubrey whispered, as she lay back, slowly pulling Aurora down with her. "Forever and always... through this life and the next."
"And every one after," Aurora agreed as she curled up against Aubrey's side and rested her head on her chest to listen to her heartbeat.
