Ben’s blade got partway into the rancor’s wrist. He could have almost been cutting a cake for how much resistance its flesh gave.
It jerked its injured arm back toward him. There wasn’t enough time to react. He was too close. It hit him in the chest and he felt himself go flying through the air. He landed on his back a couple feet away, his head hitting the ground just after his back.
He groaned as he pushed himself back to his feet. He had to make sure the kid was safe. He squinted at the rancor. It looked like there were two of them but he could only sense one.
