The arrival of her children from the future had given Regina hope that her infertility was not as permanent as she once believed. That at some point she’d discovered a cure and had contributed to the growth of Clan Locksley. As the weeks went by she thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them. To learn about their lives. Well, what little they’d share that is. She had even been blessed with getting to know the grandchildren that had arrived with them. Unlike other parents she and Robin were one of the lucky ones when many of them began to be returned to their time. At least that’s what she assumed happened to them. But despite most of her children and grandchildren remaining she was still heartbroken over the losses that they had suffered. Michael and Conan were as much her sons as the others were. It was their loss coupled with Selina’s situation and the loss of her sister that finally tipped her over the edge. Years of putting up a mask helped her keep it from being visible to the rest of the family. But that wouldn’t last forever since she had become so open with her emotions. The weekend away had helped but the extra chaos they’d returned to threatened to derail that. However, that had easily been taken care of. And the guilty parties had received a lecture and she hoped they’d learned their lesson. The appointment with Doctor Burke had given them both a better idea of her condition and her doctors belief that they could find a way to overcome this helped renew her hope. Her meeting with Remus and the other teachers had also gone well and they had a plan for the coming school year. And they’d even had a lovely dinner with their daughter and her significant others. All in all things were going well. So, when the call came in shortly after she had gotten Robyn settled again, Regina, knew it wasn’t anything good. No one called her at that hour in the morning with good news. When she learned that one of her grandchildren was being held in jail and needed to be bailed out she pinched the bridge of her nose. A second later she sighed and let the officer know that she’d be there shortly. Not having the heart to wake her husband she left him a note and used her magic to transport herself to the jail. It took more paperwork than she wanted to have to deal with at this hour but she was finally given word that Eve was being released into her custody. And when she finally came face to face with her, Regina’s eyes narrowed and she merely said, “Let’s go.” |
