RP: Getting ready for surgery
Who: Merry and Terence
What: It's the end of the day
Where: hotel, Portland, Oregon
When: 7th of November, 2000
They had left England in the early afternoon, but with the eight hour time difference, they had still made it to the doctor's office for the seven am appointment. The testing and psychological evaluation had taken most of the morning. Terence hadn't left Merry's side, smiling and saying that he wasn't leaving his girlfriend. Ending all discussions of privacy and no visitors.
After the hospital, they had found a place nearby for food. It was actually a very warm day, much much warmer than England and they just sat around until the hotel had their rooms ready. Terence had already asked for a third room, and then later a forth when Kirley showed up there, looking hangover and sulking. Typical Kirley.
By then, Merry was too tired to care. It was only six in the evening, but it was the middle of the night for them. The next morning, he was supposed to be at the hospital by six, which meant that he could use that excuse to go to sleep.
Terence left their connecting door open. Merry's room was dark, but the light from Terence's room filtered in and Merry could see the man's silhouette.
"I'm going to be up for a little while longer. If you need anything, call me," Terence said, with that smile that seemed never to leave his face.
"I'm okay, thank you. I doubt they have followed us here, when we didn't even know where here was until we got that map," Merry said, grinning.
"Never said I knew my way around Muggles. At least you know." Terence was aware of how much worse this would have been if Merry hadn't known about maps, hotels and dollars. "And they might not be here, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Now get some sleep. We'll need to be up early."
"At least we can skip breakfast." On doctor's orders.
Terence laughed. "No, you can skip breakfast. I'm a growing boy and I'm taking plenty of food with me." He'd been warned that the surgery could take a good six hours and Terence was not going to starve. "Night."
"G'night... and thank you for today, being there for those tests," she added, softly. "I don't know what I'd have done without you."
"You'd have been fine," Terence reassured her. "I'll see you in the morning."
Merry nodded and then settled down on the not-so-comfortable bed. It didn't matter though, because tomorrow, Merry would officially be a woman.
