Percy | Charlie
Charlie had noticed Percy sitting next to Dani. He knew a bit about what was happening there, that Dani had been Percy's girlfriend and now she was married to Lucius bloody Malfoy, and yet it seemed like there was nothing any of them could do about it right now. Charlie had hope that they could use Dani to get to Lucius, because if they killed Malfoy, then Dani would be free as well. That was important too, even if Charlie's motivation was to end every single one of the people who had attacked the wedding, who had helped to kill their parents, George's wife, and most of Verity's family.
Not that that was the sort of conversation one could have in this setting, though it seemed like all Charlie could think about lately. Grief, vengeance, and Penny. Which was why he was sitting alone, morose, instead of socializing like he supposed he was expected to. He just didn't see the point in pretending he gave a shite about this party, and didn't have the energy to pretend everything was normal.
So when Percy approached and asked an innocuous question, it took Charlie a second to register it. If Percy wanted small talk, Charlie could do that. He felt like he understood Percy better lately than he ever had before, and besides. For what had once been such a big, vibrant family, there weren't many Weasleys left. Charlie wanted more than ever to connect with the family he had left, and if what Percy wanted right now was small talk, then fine.
Charlie pulled himself from his heavy thoughts by looking around him at the place Percy was referring to. "Don't think I'll ever get used to it. This place is bloody ridiculous. Who needs a house like this? Or, excuse me, estate."
