He nodded. "I understand, and I appreciate it. I wouldn't ask that you put yourself in a position that could be a conflict of interest," he said, returning the smile. "Well, you're good at it, and efficient. I think I've mentioned before how much I like efficiency and competence."
There was a clatter, and when Garrett looked over he saw that one of the waiters had dropped his tray. He couldn't be sure, but the timing was too coincidental for it not to be at least somewhat related to her laugh. However, since the waiter merely cleared the mess with magic, then headed back to the kitchen, it didn't seem to be that big a deal.
"Jamie is very animated about Quidditch, isn't he?" he said fondly. "Not quite as much about Quodpot, at least not yet. I've been keeping up on the season, the up and coming players, rules and regulations. Preparing, if we ever head in that direction with JSA." Foreward thinking was one of Garrett's best qualities.
The wine was perfect, and after he nodded his head the waiter poured Dottie a glass first, then more into Garrett's glass. With a lingering look at Dottie, the waiter left them in peace again. "A bit of everything, really. Technically I'm Jamie's assistant, but I do everything from contract renewals to a bit of scouting if necessary." Not as much scouting since they'd expanded, but still a bit. "Arrange meetings, keep the office moving efficiently." It was hard to boil his job down to just a few words, as he really did do a bunch of everything.
