Backdated to Thursday Nov. 16th
Who: Emma and Professor Takahashi.
What: Ability discussion.
Where: Professor Takahashi's office.
When: Thursday Nov. 16th, afternoon
Rating: G.
Status: Complete.
Sinful Affinity: It had been a week since that horrible incident and Emma had finally set up a time with Professor Takahashi to have their sit down. She had really been trying to get there earlier but with all these crazy events randomly popping up it felt like there weren't enough hours in the day with training, classes and schoolwork on top of those. However this week appeared to be calm, giving the Empath a moment to breathe as she bounced her way to the professor's office. There were things she desperately wanted to discuss with the man that she felt only he might understand and it was a huge relief having somebody around like that. Before she knew it the slender redhead found herself in his office, tapping lightly on the door to announce her arrival.
into a blue sky: Takahashi was behind his desk, practicing writing with a pencil without using his hands. Force had always been where he was strongest and when it came to delicacy, he was much better than he had been when he was younger, but still nowhere near where he wanted to be. Some of the students he taught seemed to think that once the four years were up, that they would be finished with focus and once the five years were up, they would be finished learning about their powers. The truth was much different, Takahashi had found. The things that he could do now with his powers, he would never have conceived of ten years ago and yet, now he had set his goals so high that he wondered if he would ever be able to reach them. So lost was he in his thoughts that it took a moment for him to realize that there was someone at the door. Had he really heard them? Better to check, one would suppose... Takahashi made his way to the door, pulling it open and smiling when he saw who stood in front of him. Bishop-san. No, Emma. "Please come in," he stood to one side, pulling the door open more so she could enter.
Sinful Affinity: Pulled from her thoughts back to reality with the motion of the door, Emma smiled at the man sweetly. A polite nod was given when she passed, entering the room while glancing about curiously. The office was pretty standard but eyes still sought those little personal touches that might give away some fragment of information. Finding nothing of merit however, her attention returned to Takahashi. Her voice was soft but loud enough for him to easily hear, "good afternoon P-Professor Takahashi. I-I'm sorry it-it took so long for th-this meeting to occur."
into a blue sky: "I'm sure that you have been busy, so it is of no consequence," Takahashi waved off the apology, moving further into the room. There really was nothing in the room that seemed exceptional, the only thing he had moved in was a large, but normal seeming cabinet that stretched across the back wall. Behind those closed doors, were any personal touches he might have brought to the place, but while he'd used to enjoy making his mark on an office, he found he didn't really have the heart for it. Serenely smiling, Takahashi took his seat behind his desk. "What may I help you with?" There was the talk about her progress, of course, but he wanted to see if anything else had prompted her after last week's... mishap.
Sinful Affinity: His understanding was refreshing, keeping the smile firmly planted on her lips. The question brought a torrent of her own to the surface, restraining them from all pouring out and choosing just the right one to start with. "I-I appear to-to be um having some t-trouble w-with my um powers. I-I'm very comfortable w-with my Empathy but I-I'd like to learn m-more about th-these shields you mentioned and was w-wondering if-if we could um maybe do some one on-on one training."
into a blue sky: There was a pause and then Takahashi nodded, still smiling as he looked down at his schedule. It was still fairly open. "You want to learn how to make shields?" His gaze wandered back up to her. As of right now, he still wasn't sure what to think of Emma, but shields would be a good thing for her to learn. "I'm sure we could manage that. What in particular would you like to block?"
Sinful Affinity: That was a complicated question really, with so many answers if one looked hard enough they might see the list scrolling through her eyes. "Well," she began, formulating an answer in hopes it came out right. "I-I'm more about m-minimizing th-the impact th-they have on me th-than completely blocking th-them. Knowing h-how others are-are feeling makes me m-more useful to th-the group most times but th-the feelings can be o-overpowering."
into a blue sky: "Is it just bad emotions that you can feel? Or can you reach out to the group as well?" Takahashi was considering things in his mind, the possibilities seemed endless even though he wasn't empathic himself. Not naturally so. "And what would you like to do for the group?" Once he knew what she wanted, exactly what she wanted, they'd be able to figure things out.
Sinful Affinity: "I. . .I can feel everything," she admitted with a slight frown. "I-I have since I-I was a teenager. My c-control keeps th-them at th-the back of my mind a-a majority of th-the time because I-I don't want to invade anyones p-personal space. But extreme c-cases are-are difficult to-to handle as easily. To th-the point th-they sc-scramble me. If I-I could st-stay focused I-I'd be able to contain th-the negative a-and p-possibly amplify th-the positive for m-my team. I-I believe my t-telepathy would b-be most useful to-to them but I-I'm having trouble w-with th-that as well."
into a blue sky: Looking down at his notes, Takahashi frowned, perhaps his were out of date. "I was under the impression that you aren't able to feel everything," Normally the power levels were well documented, but it's possible that they could have made a mistake. Then, he leans forward, his fingers clasped together as he considered what he needed to say, glad for the protection that the void gave him against mental powers. "Even if you keep it to the back of your mind, Emma, it still is an invasion of privacy because you can still feel them."
Sinful Affinity: Sighing, she bowed her head. "E-Everything might be a bit m-much realistically but any s-strong emotions I-I'm able to pick up on w-with my abilities. Anyth-thing else is th-through observation. I-I know it's intrusive b-but I-I don't know how to shut it off." Her shoulders sank. She hadn't even known this sensitivity was an ability until a few months ago and since then so many things had run through her head. All of those people she had shared emotions with in joy or pain since high school had merely been mistakes she couldn't fix but perhaps she could make up for it now.
into a blue sky: "I can teach you," Takahashi replied after a long moment, nodding his head. It was good that she wanted to shut it out at least, some students wouldn't have been so understanding. "I like the idea of what you could do for the team," picking up his pen, he made a mark in his book. What had worked for her before, wouldn't necessarily work here. Especially with some of the people he had seen thus far. "The mind is a very, very tricky thing and no one has really mapped out the social boundaries of it since there has been so little need. When would you like to meet?"
Sinful Affinity: Relief lit up in blue eyes that lowered to meet his. "Th-Thank you," she whispered with a deep appreciation. She could barely remember what emotional silence felt like but in time maybe she could savor being alone with her own feelings again and leave others to theirs. Nodding her agreement on what she had to offer a team, the Empath appeared relaxed in demeanor. A tricky thing indeed, one she would eventually have to master to fulfill her potential but for now? Baby steps. Considering her schedule she replied contently, "weekday afternoons a-are good for me, especially T-Tuesdays or Th-Thursdays. Whichever is-is most convenient for you."
into a blue sky: "I'd also like to work on you with your telepathic abilities," Takahashi murmured, noting down the times. "Will Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3pm work for you?" She could become a powerful asset to the team, instant communication when her powers were strong enough. She could be the most efficient communication advice that they had, far beyond the reaches of technology simply because it would be impossible for her to be heard.
Sinful Affinity: "Th-That would be wonderful," the redhead replied beamingly. "A-And th-that sounds p-perfect. I-I really appreciate th-the assistance Professor Takahasi. Is-Is th-there anything else you w-wanted to-to um discuss?"
into a blue sky: "I mostly wanted to talk to you about your telepathy," Takahashi shook his head, smiling in response to her smile. She was a nice girl. Bright and with an easy smile. "Is there anything else you'd like to talk about, Emma? How have you been holding up since that incident?"
Sinful Affinity: "I-I'm doing ok. Th-Things are getting b-better," she nodded positively. "N-Nothing else to-to mention off th-the top of my head really. Glad th-things have calmed down."
into a blue sky: Takahashi nodded, closing the small leather bound notebook in front of him and smiling at his student. "Then I think that will be all, Emma. Thank you for your time."
Sinful Affinity: Glancing at the book, eyes raised with a returned smile. "A-And th-thank you again. I-I'll see you um Tuesday th-then." Nodding politely she turned and padded over to the door. Progress had been made here and she was excited for the training to begin.
