Who: Ty & Emma
What: The welcome tour
Where: Underground tunnels, resource centers
When: Sept 5th (Really backdated!)
Rating: G
Status: Complete
metallicseraph: Shifting her weight her sitting position shifts as well on the stairs to the building. Glancing over her shoulder Ty watched as a fellow student walked out and gave her a cheery smile. A wave and a slight bob of head in a nod was the only response before her eyes moved back out to scan. There was a new recruit coming in, or that was so she'd been told, and a crash course on the grounds would be needed so claimed Inanna. How that woman was always involved in everything and so damn cheerful was way beyond her. Grunting her foot kicked at a pebble, bouncing it down the path up to the dorm. God she could use a smoke about now. Shifting again Ty stood and stretched her arms up over her head. Maybe if she just ran up stairs quick she could find an old pack stashed somewhere... Hopping up the steps the mutant began to dig through her pockets in attempts to find which one currently housed her key card.
Sinful Affinity: Oh what a crazy couple of days. Here she was thinking everything was normal only to find out it wasn't. The teachers seemed to think the quiet little empath way special and based on their findings she couldn't disagree. Emma had always believed her "abilities" were something everyone possessed but never spoke about and discovering that wasn't so had turn everything upside down. She was handling the information rather well, even is processing came in bursts and life started to make a little more sense. Slender arms were tight around her folders and books, quivering blue eyes searching the area she wasn't at all familiar with. There was a girl she was to meet, Ty they'd called her and she wondered how this woman got such a strange name. A slow sigh tumbled past her lips, pulling away from her thoughts to focus on locating her guide. Pools settled on the sole figure ahead and her heart leapt into her throat, its beats quickening at the beautiful sight before them. 'Oh not now Emma. Go away you silly little hormones, I have something important to do.' Hesitantly inching closer, she cleared her throat and managed to project her voice enough that maybe the brunette might hear her, "T-Ty?"
metallicseraph: And there came her name. However the voice calling it didn't register on any wave length and her mind snapped to the supposed new recruit. Hands groping at pockets stopped before smoothing out her pants. Those cancer sticks would just have to wait. Glancing over her shoulder slowly her body followed the direction her head had turned in. "Yeah, that'd be me." Eyeing the girl for a moment she summed up what she could only figure to be either unsure or uncomfortable posture of the other. Scanning her memory a name finally stuck out again, now let's see if it matched up. "And you are?"
Sinful Affinity: Tendrils of red fanned over one eye as her head tilted curiously, pondering a moment what the other woman might have been looking for previous to the interuption. Her keys perhaps? It was something she could wonder at a more appropriate time, straightening her posture and adjusting her grip on the items so she could extend a slender hand politely. "E-Emma," she stammered, gulping down the faintest of blushes that threatened to creep onto pale cheeks. It had to be a gorgeous woman, didn't it? Not that she was at all complaining, more concerned with holding her composure so the other woman might miss the slight swooning in shimmering azures.
metallicseraph: A low noise, almost grunt like in nature was the response for a moment before nodding and offering a hand back. Giving a firm two pump shake her hand then easily retracted, eyes showing all business. "You're getting a tour today, yea?" Glancing around for a moment the simple thought occurred that while she had stopped the search for her key card to get into the dorm that was a rather foolish maneuver since she was still going to need it. Stuffing a hand down a pocket fingers almost instantly came in contact with the smooth plastic of the card before retrieving it from her pocket. Key cards were the standard to all the dorms on campus but the cards were keyed specifically to each dorm. Her view shifted over to the taller new comer. "Ready?"
Sinful Affinity: Chills ran up her arm at the firm gesture, returning it the way her mother had taught her before contact was lost. Wrapping the arm about her things again, she replied softly, "u-um, yeah." 'Way to sound so very intelligent Emma. Go you. At least it should only look like I'm nervous, which I seriously am but not for the reason she probably thinks. Wow does she have strong hands.' One brow rose at the brief search before the sliver of plastic brought an answer to her unasked question. 'So that's what she was looking for.' Gaze darted from examining the shorter woman's athletic body to the door then over to meet Ty's eyes with a smile and not. "Wh-When you are."
metallicseraph: Another short nod was given and Ty swiped her card past the reader. A beep was followed by the distinctive click of the door lock releasing. Grabbing the door and pulling it open she nodded for Emma to go first. So far the name she had lined up with the girls it appeared no funny business was going on tonight, which was a good thing of course. The last thing she needed was some crazy bullshit going down the first few days of class. Stepping through the door behind the other girl a couple steps put her back in the lead again and a hand gestured for Emma to follow. "So what's you skill?" Small talk had never been her strong suit, but it wouldn't hurt anyone, right? Leading down a hallway she turned right at an old, almost detective office looking door, pulling it open and heading down a hallway of rooms on either side of them before hitting the door at the other end of the hall and yanking that one open as well. Moving through it was then down a set of stairs, rounding a corner, through another door and down another set of stairs and they were in the laundry room/kitchen.
Sinful Affinity: A prompt click and nod were her signals to enter, a polite bob of her head accompanied by a soft reply, "thank you." Stepping inside the building, she moved to one side and waited for the attractive woman to lead the way. After all, she could get lost in these hallways for days if left to her own devices. easily Ty resumed the leading position and Emma followed close behind, although not too closely. She didn't want to make the other uncomfortable or make it any more obvious she was attempting not to check her out. The question caught her by surprise although she was sure Ty wouldn't be the last to ask it. It was strange coming to terms with her "special" abilities but knowing there were others like her did ease the tension. Collecting her thoughts, a delicate voice filled the air again, "u-um, I-I didn't really know it um h-had a name b-but t-telepathy from wh-what I talked to th-the um, others about." The twists and turns would be memorized in time she was sure but for now she just tried to concentrate on keeping pace. "A-And you?" she followed up a second later, finding herself eager to find out more about the beauty. 'I bet it's something really badass.' Taking in her surroundings as they came to a stop, a soft 'hm' left her throat. They'd set up a meal plan already but she did enjoy a bit of cooking and perhaps once she made a few more friends she could conjure something up for them. What a delightful idea. It brought a smile to her face as she awaited a reply.
metallicseraph: A low noise of confirmation was given so that Emma could know the words were actually processed, not just ignored. A fingers curled up almost mimicking a gun like shape as she pointed to the random door off to the side of one of the driers to indicate where they were going next. Heading for the door Ty began to dig in a pocket again, this time for a new key card and yanked it out, swiping the card through a reader this time instead of just running the card in front of a signal reader like the front door. "Me?" Of course the response asking what she did would be the next natural step but somehow Ty hadn't expected it none-the-less. "Shape shifting I guess you'd call it." A shrug was given, that really wasn't the best description but it was the best fitting she'd found to date. It took a moment but a series of clicks went off on the other side of the door, along with what almost sounded like a pressure release (which would be odd since this door looked like a normal wooden door just like every other door in the building) and Ty nodded towards the door before grabbing the handle. "That's our cue." Pulling it open she waited for Emma to go first before stepping through her self and pulling the door shut with a very distinctive click behind them to reveal that the old facade of the door was a simple illusion and on the other side it was all sterile, clean and smooth metal panels down a long corridor as far as the eye could see.
Sinful Affinity: Continuing the careful inspection of each room, she also noticed the number of keys the other woman appeared to have and wondered if the packet being prepared for her would contain more than one. ‘Doubt it. Realistically I should only need the one to get into this building, unless they have those locks on the outside of each dorm room but that seems excessive.’ Noting the wash room they were soon on the move again but this door had another type of lock which she found interesting. Security measure she was sure and a fragment of her tension evaporated. She would be safe here. . .she hoped. A hard swallow cleansed the bitter taste at the back of her throat and a smile widened on pink lips at Ty’s surprise. The answer to her question was intriguing, causing curiosity to flare even more in the redhead that reflected in her reply, “Wow. Wh-what can you sh-shift into?” ‘Totally knew it was something badass.’ Strange noises from the normal looking wooden panel quirked a rustic brow, head tilting to one side. ‘That’s odd.’ She was hesitant until the beauty encouraged her to step inside, sparkling gaze staring into the distance of a hallway that seemed endless. ‘Damn, this *is* really advanced. Not that I should have expected otherwise. It’s a program for mutants after all. I wonder what else I’m gonna be shown.’
metallicseraph: Allowing Emma to step through first Ty quickly followed suit and stepped around the girl, a hand reaching out in front of them, almost looking for something even though the hallway seemed clear in front of them. Finally her hand rested on something and fingers began to feel over it. After a second a click occurred and a panel swung open, revealing a 10 digit key pad with what appeared to be a touch screen off to one side of it. The new question caused a pinching of brows for a moment as Ty paused, seeming to fall thoughtful for a moment. "Oh, uh. Metal I guess." With the question answered the mutants vision slipped back to the keypad and touch screen. Using her pointer finger, middle finger, ring finger and thumb a series of buttons were pushed before a rather cheerful voice popped up from an unknown speaker. Code confirmed, please proceed with the next step! Glancing back to Emma, Ty then nodded at the machine. "You're gonna have to get used to this. Code, then finger prints." Pressing her fingers, but not thumb, onto the touch pad another noise much like a pressure release sounded. With that a new door swung open, revealing the same metallic hallway. Nodding towards the door Ty spoke again. "Gotta let me go there first, don't think you're in the system yet." Quietly moving past the empath as soon as Ty slipped through the door a device dropped down from the ceiling which seemed to almost be flying and a computer voice sprang forth this time. Retinal scan commencing. Standing still the little flying metallic box scanned over Ty's eyes before the computerized voice popped up again. Retinal scan complete, Welcome Ty. Nodding Ty held one hand back to signal Emma to stay put for a second before stepping all the way through. "Gloria, admit one temporary guest, Emma Bishop." Commencing. She signaled for Emma to step through the doorway. "Now stand there." Ty pointed to a spot on the floor with an 'x' marked in red tape.
Sinful Affinity: Eyes studied the brunette, taking in the process while making mental notes of it all. ‘Metal, huh? Fascinating. I’ve read stories about people being capable of transforming into animals but that’s different.’ Catching the shorter woman’s eyes for but a brief moment she nodded. ‘The tech here is incredibly advanced. Doesn’t look like anyone who doesn’t belong here could get in without a lot of trouble.’ Worries stirring at the back of her thoughts were quieted by the knowledge, simply observing the other female go through motions that were clearly all too familiar for her. When it came time for the Empath to step through the door she inched her way in and stood uneasily at the center of a marked spot. Completely still, the tower of a woman smiled through the unfamiliar procedure and awaited further instruction. In time she’d learn to go about this casually or possibly methodically like Ty but a glimpse at this new world sent her head spinning. Good thing she didn’t easily overload, storing bit by bit for further investigation and avoiding analyzing anything in too much depth. ‘This must be what the Twilight Zone feels like.’
metallicseraph: With Emma all lined up Ty nodded. "Gloria proceed into position." The little flying scanner bot darted up near Emma's face just like it had with Ty's before. "It's going to scan your eyes. Stand still and try not to blink, got it?" Pausing for a moment Ty waited for some sort of confirmation before glancing back. "Gloria begin scan." With the blink of an eye the machine flew in close, producing a red colored wave of light over the Empath's eyes before almost fluttering away and the machine spoke again. Emma Bishop, confirmed. Ty paused for a moment, brows knitting before words slipped out absently. "Huh. Guess you are in the system all ready. That new tech works fast." Shaking her head she signaled for Emma to follow along after her, the door behind them automatically shutting. After a few steps Ty broke the silence. "If you have a nick name or something you prefer they can code that in later, they just start off with the full name for base procedures." The echo of metal resounded beneath feet as they walked down the hall. "There's several buildings on the tour. Training hall, mutes center, hunts and sup nats center, arc center, div and rel center. Starting preference?" A glance was given over her shoulder before getting too far ahead.
Sinful Affinity: The Empath tried her best to follow instructions but the movement of the machine unsettled her. Taking a deep breath she stared forward and focused on anything but the slightly creepy futuristic technology with a voice of its own. Nodding in response to the RA her eyes remained trained on a wall and before she knew it the polite machine had accomplished it’s task. ‘That wasn’t as scary as I was expecting. And. . .Gloria seems rather pleasant. I suppose that may have something to do with me being an expected guest.’ Popping a brow at the brunette’s statement she smiled. Apparently she wasn’t the only one surprised Gloria knew who she was already. Given the signal she was trailing behind Ty again, tthe RA’s voice a settling sound amongst the surrounding silence and again she nodded. She’d probably just have Gloria call her Emma like most everyone else but the information made her curious if “Ty” was a nickname and if so, what for? Though curious she wouldn’t dare ask.
Sinful Affinity: Most people had their chosen name for a reason and she didn’t know the brunette well enough to even consider treading there. Tilting her head at the options, she tried not to sound incompetent, “uh-uhm, wh-whichever way is the easiest to r-remember.”
metallicseraph: A glance was tossed back to the new blood and a thought flickered across her mind. "Muts is short for mutants, div and rel is short for divine casters and religious studies center, arc is short for arcane casters, hunt is short for hunters and the training hall is... well, the training hall." Shoulders shrugged as the one central hallway split in two different directions up ahead. "There's really no shortest way." Waiting until they got to the break Ty stopped. Pointing down the left side she spoke. "Over there the tunnel splits four ways going to the supernaturals, hunters, divine and mutants buildings." Her hand moved to point down the right tunnel. "Down there is the training facility."
Sinful Affinity: Well that made sense but she wondered which buildings would be visited most. There was the obvious but what other buildings should she make a mental note of? ‘I’m going to get lost a couple times, I just know it. This place is HUGE.’ Pausing at the split, she glanced at each direction when it was pointed to. ‘That’s not too hard to remember right away.’ Nodding, she replied softly, “th-this place is very spacious. P-Perhaps we could start w-with the mutant center then play wheel of fortune from th-there?” So, she was no comedian but it sounded funny in her head. ‘The real challenge will be telling the 5 hallways apart.’
metallicseraph: Ty shrugged. Not that it really mattered to her where they started, they had to go everywhere eventually. Nodding Ty headed down the left hallway which appeared to be a straight shot from mallet hall all the way down to the mutant resource center. Ty remained quiet unless pointing out the other parts of the hallway. The first optional right was the supernatural and hunter resource building, continuing forward the next optional right was to the magic Arcane resource building. Moving forward once more the mutant resource building was in view when there was an optional left which lead down to the divine and religious studies building. Making her way up to the mutant resource building there was a large door which the mutant easily moved up to, sliding the secondary key card through the scanner caused the door to pop open much like the door to enter the hallway. "Here we are." Ty gestured for Emma to go first into the old building. They were entering through the basement of the building which was made of solid concrete beside the door. Ty nodded to the steps. "Head up, that's the main part of the building."
Sinful Affinity: Emma was relieved to discover the mutant resource center had incredibly easy to follow directions and eventually she’d have the others down too. A crystalline gaze moved to each optional path as it was introduced, quietly moving along though she was curious about the different names and what they meant. Reaching a door, she smiled politely at the brunette as she passed, making her way into the unfamiliar space. Ascending the steps cautiously it was only a minute before she reached her destination. Eyes explored the new room with intrigue, taking it all in as if she might never see it again. Exploring had always fascinated her and today she would get more than her fill.
metallicseraph: Coming up from the basement the first entered into the main kitchen of the center. The buildings could easily be compared to huge old school houses. The wooden floors were boarded and a huge hearth was the center of the kitchen. There were doorways on each side of the building which exited into other parts of the multi-level house. "There's all sorts of classrooms. You can use this kitchen to cook if you want, these are better kept than the dorm kitchen." Ty shrugged moving off into one of the exiting doorways. A small room hosted spots for students to relax or gather to study as one small group was doing at the moment. Heading down a hall it was lined with doors. Pausing for a moment Ty tested one of the door knobs, finding it open before pushing the door open to revealing a fairly standard looking old school room in design but all of the desks were new and a white board remained next to the old chalk board. The newer piece almost looked out of place in comparison. "Since there's only around fifty mutants in the school this place is pretty much up for relaxing, professor offices and whatever students feel up to. Some people have trained their powers over here even since all the rooms are furnished in one way or another. This building has two common areas, the kitchen which is the connector between the two sides of the building, four faculty offices and ten open rooms for leisure, classes or whatever. Nothing too impressive really."
Sinful Affinity: It certainly wasn’t what Emma was expecting but it held it’s share of charm. Smiling fondly, a nod was given to her guide and she wondered how often people would be found in this kitchen. She loved to cook and though she was on a meal plan it couldn’t stop her from making goodies once in a while. ‘Sounds like I won’t run out of places if I want to study in peace. That’s a relief. God only knows who I might have for a roommate.’ The classroom she was shown looked simple enough. A little awkward in appearance with the new things mingling in an older setting but she liked it. The Empath was surprised to hear there were only fifty students but realistically it made sense considering how little a percentage of the population was “different” than the rest. “Are-are all of the facilities similar to th-this one?” she pondered aloud, still taking in the quaint setting. Anything to keep her from staring at the attractive woman for too long.
metallicseraph: Pausing for a moment Ty nodded thoughtfully. "Except the training center and divine and religious studies center. The arcance center I guess you could classify it more as a... well. I guess more library like." The titan shrugged again. It wasn't easy to explain just how everything worked around here with all the magic and mystery. Not to mention even with all these years behind her she still didn't full get magic. "The training center is really the only building that's high tech."
Sinful Affinity: Ooooh, a library? That was right up her alley and she would definitely be wandering through there when she had some free time. She was curious what subject matter each section might hold and inwardly squeed at the idea of getting lost in such a place. The religious studies center also appealed to the redhead and she couldn’t wait to scope it out. At being informed the training center was the most technologically advanced area a slight worry crept into the back of her mind. ‘I’m going to get my ass kicked by a computer, aren’t I? At least my clumsiness shouldn’t be able to actually break anything in there, except possibly myself. Oh Emma, stop worrying. You’ll get use to this. It’s all just a little strange to think about right now. I could always distract myself.’ Eyes wandered over the muscular mutant which sent a small chill sailing up her back, pools darting away as she fought off heat rising in her cheeks again. “Sounds. . .interesting. S-So where to next?”
metallicseraph: A glance was given over to the other girl. "Back into the tunnels. From here the closest turn off is the DRC if that's cool with you." If it were up to Ty they'd tick off each section systematically so that no back tracking would be left at all. Besides for heading back to the dorms that was. The quicker this could be done the better really was all Ty could think as she headed back for the steps. "Each center has an outside area too, which people are free to roam around it. It's all protected so nothing will ever bother you beside other students." Hopping down the stairs they were back in the basement before heading back into the underground metallic hallways once more, this time hooking a right where their left used to be to head down towards the DRC. "It's pretty much a huge church with different areas for different religions."
Sinful Affinity: ‘I wonder if she’s always this serious. I suppose being an RA she would have to be most of the time and I’m sure this isn’t nearly as enthralling for her as it is me. Probably been down these halls a million times over but it doesn’t seem like she minds too much. . .I don’t think.’ There were places outside each center too? How was that even possible? Boy was that one going to dance around in her brain for a while. Maybe after she settled in some she could find somebody to fire all these questions at. Well, the ones not involving the beautiful RA in front of her of course. Carefully descending the steps and rounding the corner, eyes widened and she couldn’t stifle the joy in word that slipped past her lips, “really?”
metallicseraph: Ty nodded. "Yeah. The upper most part is kind of like a chapel, then there's the middle floor where most of the extra rooms are held and the basement." A pause fell in her words. "I think one of them is like a buddist shrine or something. Each door leads to some sort of extra dimensional space. The Arc's..." She paused. "The arcane professors set it up I guess, so like each room is it's own temple when you open the door." Leading the way down the new hall this one was nearly as long as the one they had walked down to get to the mutant center. "There's a library in there too. All sorts of divine history."
Sinful Affinity: “Wow,” was all the telepath could manage. Exploring this place was going to take a lot longer than she had thought, especially if she got distracted in any one of these libraries Ty spoke of. She’d always had an interest in all books but religion was one of her favorite topics. It was starting to feel like Emma could happily get lost in here forever but she knew realistically it would be best in moderation. There was only so much one could do between classes and she’d promised her parents she’d at least try to be social. Ty’s terminology made sense and she wondered if the other students used them as well. She would have to see but for now the mutant would remain formal. “It sounds l-lovely.”
metallicseraph: Once more Ty nodded. "Yeah, it's nice." While she quite enjoyed religion and was fascinated by all it had to hold, that was a quiet fascination at best and she'd much prefer to keep it that way in the long run. Though it was nice to see someone else who sounded interested instead of groaning and rolling their eyes. Finally the basement came into view and Ty repeated the same procedure as before, easily sliding her keycard again and the door popped open, seeming to appear almost out of no where. Once more Ty nodded for Emma to go first. Best to talk from the back so that you wouldn't be able to see the new kids ignoring you. "It's the same basic procedure for most of the resource centers. The only one that's different is the training center. You'll get in with card, a code and biometrics."
sinfulaffinity: Going through increasingly familiar motions, Emma continued to take in all of her surroundings. This campus was certainly a lot more than she had expected and she doubted it’s wonders would ever cease to captivate her. So much to explore and not nearly enough time she was positive. Stepping in front of the other mutant, Emma stayed focus on the path but quirked a brow at Ty’s statement. “L-Like at th-the first door?” Would Gloria greet her there too? What a strange concept but something the Empath felt it shouldn’t take long to get use to. After all, her computer talked to her, so why not the building? Her mind wandered to the training room, pondering how technologically advanced it might be and which features may be included. They would get there of course and though she hadn’t trained before her new classes surely required it. How else were the “special” students to explore their abilities?
metallicseraph: “Yeah, like the first door.” The rest of the tour would be systematically knocked out building by building, special feature by special feature. Ty had done it three semesters in a row now and she somehow doubted that she’d be stopping this job anytime soon. Somehow she always got sucked back into it. Hitting the other resource centers first, then the training center was the best way to handle things. Keep all the simple buildings first and end with the most advanced. When finally getting to the training center Ty nodded for Emma to go ahead. “Since Gloria’s all ready got your stat’s why don’t you give it a try, got your keycard, right?” Waiting for Emma to go through the motions Ty crossed her arms. The fresh meat went through it without a problem and they headed in, the training center would be short and sweet, an explanation of how it was sectioned off and hitting the key areas of the training rooms and the med bay and they were all set. The first year then had all the knowledge she needed, now it was just time to hope she retained it.
