Hallo Trinity! I'm the OTHER mod, Codie! Thank you for joining us, I'm pumped to see you bringing this character into the game! I love her complex nature, she'll be fascinating to puzzle out! I have three characters to plot with:
Alexis Harlow/Prince - swamproyalty: Prince is a wicked, rotten little party animal with a short fuse and a serious superiority complex. He looks down his nose at most of the other carnival workers, carrying himself like he really is royalty. A New Orleans native, Prince is a practicing rootworker and has an innate understanding of the magical and practical uses for herbs, minerals, and curios. He does the Prince of Pain act for the carnival, a shock torture show that involves such classics as the human blockhead, the bed of nails, sword swallowing and fire eating. He'll approach just about anyone and talk to them, and he makes it a point to know EVERYONE around the Freak Show. He also owns a black pygmy goat named Goetia, who has a reputation for breaking into people's trailers and drinking all of their liquor.
Prince has a dual nature similar to Samperna's, which I think would create a cool dynamic... but Prince HATES the burlesque dancers. No one is quite sure how it started, but Prince had a conflict with one of the dancers and has been at war with her and other dancers for years now. He frequently attempts to sabotage some of them, has done damage to their trailers and vehicles, etc. I have a feeling that Samperna would not appreciate his behavior at all!
James Hawkins/Rodeo - wantedman: A rough-and-tumble cowboy with a secret sweet disposition, Rodeo grew up in a cramped trailer in Tennessee with his little sister and alcoholic mother, learning from a young age to support his family in less-than-legal ways. Formerly a mechanic and a man of crime, Rodeo has been on the run from the law since committing two murders to avenge the near-fatal stabbing of his best friend several years ago. He hides out amongst the carnival workers, but the threat of being caught for his crimes is never far off. He's the head mechanic for the carnival and on open nights he can be seen darting around the lot on a Gator with his toolbox on the back, doing on-the-spot repairs and keeping the show running smoothly. He's happy to be the Freak Show's handyman and will gladly come around to help with fixes or anything that requires brute strength and/or tools during his off hours.
Rodeo is the opposite of Prince, in that he LOVES the burlesque show. He's a lady's man, and he just can't keep out of the burlesque tent. He definitely flirts with the girls during their off hours (really, he flirts with any girls at all hours) and Samperna would be no exception.
Rosarie Lavolier/Lucky - this journal: Lucky was born on the bayous of Louisiana, raised and home schooled by his wildhearted mother and mystic grandmother. Since his earliest days, Lucky has seen and heard spirits all around him. As a teen he moved to New Orleans to live with his grandmother's friend in order to experience the city life, and he made a living for a while as a street musician playing the blues-- until it became apparent that he involuntarily channels these spirit voices while playing music, and his lyrics were often eerily predictive. Lucky decided to try his hand at bartending instead, where he remained until being attacked by a witch hunter after closing. Lucky joined the carnival shortly after. He runs a gambling tent where he goads patrons into playing simple card and dice games with the promise of winning money. Many of these games are surreal and dizzying, with Lucky building them up in a whirlwind of raised stakes until he decides which way to tip the scales.
I can definitely see Lucky and Samperna being close friends. They are both strong and self-possessed, and I think they would understand each other on some level. Lucky is very gentle and kind, having been raised by women, and he's therefore very easy to be around even if Samperna might distrust men on some level.
